Taking inspiration from games like Slay the Spire, Alina of the Arena unleashed its gladiatorial combat on PC in 2022. Now it's set to launch on ??consoles later this month.

DANGEN Entertainment and PINIX Games announced plans to bring Alina of the Arena to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox digital stores on November 23, 2023. In addition to the deckbuilding of Slay the Spire, the devs cite Into the Breach as inspiration. Alina of the Arena blends roguelite elements with hex-based tactics, resource management, and more that unfolds in strategic position-based gladiator battles. You can see a sampl??e of its style in the release date trailer and screens.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMCseTgdzrQ

Alina of the Arena follows a gladiator named Al??ina who aims to entertain a particularly bloodthirsty crowd while rising up the ranks. You can pick up weapons the crowd tosses into the arena, upgrade equipment, and acquire new cards to improve your strategy. Some cards may help Alina deal more damage, while others assist in avoiding attacks or even pitting enemies against one another for a tactical advantage.

The flow of? each level spans standard battles, elite battles, shops, events, a??nd ultimately a showdown with the arena's champion. Permanent upgrades can be unlocked along with new builds to give you a fighting chance in successive runs.

Are you not entertained?

Alina of the Arena picked up some accolades following its initial launch on PC. In addition to nominations at even??ts like BitSummit and IndiePlay, it won the Best Design In??die Game Award at Taipei Game Show 2023. Outside of UI updates, it sounds like we can expect the same features that made it a success when it lands on consoles on November 23.

Why do you build me up?

The satisfaction that comes from doing well in a deckbuilding game is like nothing else. Whether you're playing a physical game like the excellent (if dryly titled) DC Deck-Building Game or a video game like the infinite time-suck that is Slay the Spire, it just feels good to build and unleash your own slate of moves. But recently, I've found myself bored by straight up-and-down deckbuilders. A lot of them feel very similar, and while there are plenty of good games playing with the same ideas, I've started actively s?eeking out deckbuilders with slightly bigger ideas.

And if it's big ideas you want, Backpack Hero is your ne??w best friend. This early-access roguelike is on??e of the most inventive deckbuilders I've ever played.

What are ya buyin', stranger?

Backpack Hero wears its Resident Evil 4 DNA proudly on its sleeve. The game is entirely built around fitting weapons and consumables into a limited space, and the eponymous backpack bears a suspicious resemblance to RE4's legendary attache case. But Backpack Hero's survival horror cousin treats inventory management as a neat diversion from a larger game. In Backpack Hero, it is the game.

[caption id="attachment_357593" align="alignnone" width="640"] Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Every item in Backpack Hero takes up a certain number of squares in your backpack. A certain shield will eat up a 2x2 square, while another will only occupy a 2x1 rectangle, so choosing which one to bring along is of maximum importance. But it's not just about what you take with you - it's also about where it goes. Most of the items in the game will be buffed in some way if they're placed in specific slots relative to other items. A helmet, for example, will only function if it's at t??he top of your bag, and a breastplate will buff adjacent pieces of armor. You might randomly happe??n across a really sick sword, but to take it, you'll need to sacrifice a defensive build that you've carefully fostered.

Tough choices like that are central to Backpack Hero. Getting married to any one build early in the game can spell defeat, and you have to be willing to let go of something that's working now if you want to plan for the future. Actual combat is pretty bland and repetitive, but that's not the draw. Backpack Hero is a game about inventory management, and it may feature the best inventory management system ever. Where new cards are simply added to the deck in more traditional deckbuilders, Backpack Hero makes every pickup feel like a little puzzle.

Incredible depth

Most of what I've described here is true of the game's first playable character, Purse. But Backpack Hero has a few other fellows to choose from as well, and they each play dramatically differently. You could also play as a mystic frog, who pulls items at random and uses the backpack as a strategic playing field; maybe you'll end up preferring the bird bard who can tear discreet specialized pockets into his backpack. These aren't just characters with different specialties, a la Slay the Spire, they're characters that totally reinvent the game (think of something like Dicey Dungeons for a good reference point).

[caption id="attachment_357591" align="alignnone" width="640"] Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Backpack Hero also has various different character-specific challenge modes that force you to come up with builds that you might otherwise ignore. In addition to providing a ton of extra content, these challenges also expose exactly how deep customization can get in Backpack Hero. Synergies that might seem totally insignificant become vital when, for example, you can't use any traditional weapons. Brute force can be handy, but what if you played music for the enemy until they joined you like a tempo?rary Pokémon? There's a lot to uncover in this game, and it's only getting bigger and more dyna??mic as time goes on.

[caption id="attachment_357598" align="alignnone" width="640"] Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

The game is still in early access, and the developer, Jaspel, has promised significant updates in the future. Apparently, there are plans to introduce a city-building mechanic to provide some progression hooks between runs, and I'm very excited to see how that turns out. To be honest, though, Backpack Hero already feels like more than enough for me. Backpack Hero, in its incomplete state, is richer and more engaging than plenty of full games I've played. I'm excited to see how it grows and changes in the future, but I don't think there's any reason to wait and see. What's there now is excellent, and there's a pleasantly hefty demo that you can try out if you're still not sure.

And I could not be more excited

Slay the Spire is one of my most-played games of all time, so it's always a pleasant surprise to see the little indie game that could from 2017 in the headlines. This time, there's a Slay the Spire board game in the works, and in all honesty, I'm not much o?f a board game?? person, but I am willing to be if it means I get to play a physical version of my favorite deckbuilding roguelike.

Apparently I somehow missed the announcement that Slay the Spire was getting a board game adaptation two years ago, but the Kickstarter page fo??r the project is officially launched. So far they've raised over $1.5 million, and I don't really have any clue how much money it takes to make a board game, but that seems like a pretty substantial chunk of change in my book.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGfSp3Kz7rk

There are four pledge tiers ranging from $1 to $210 -- the lowest tier get??s you access to updates and the Pledge Manager at the end of the campaign, the $100 tier gives you the b??ase game, the $145 version gets you the base game plus some extras like character play mats and metal coins, and that fancy $210 version gets you the game and a whole bunch of extras, like the aforementioned mats, coins, and some beta art, among other things.

There are already some reviews of the board game up online, and with all the little bits and baubles (that I am ?bound to lose) it seems that the mechanics are a very faithful adaptation of what we're used to seeing in the video game. It looks to me like a p?retty luxe purchase for collectors and fans of the game, so I'd probably suggest giving the original a few runs before playing if you haven't already.

Keep those genre mashups coming, game devs

There are a lot of video games out there in the world. Shooters, platformers, narrative adventures, fighting games iconic genres that have almost forty years of precedence to make them what they are today. Various developers and studios have given us some truly amazing entries in all of these genres an??d many more, but sometimes, I find myself wondering if there's anything new out there that will shake up the industry. Of course, this is always a silly thought, because people are endlessly creative, especially when it comes to game design. The industry has plenty of answers for keeping things moving forward, but my absolute favorite trend in games right now is genre mashup.

That's right, it's as simple as taking two game genres and combining them but the outcome is almost always effective, giving us a new perspective on some gameplay systems that might have otherwise become a bit tired. Developers have been borrowing design elements from all kinds of games pretty much forever, but it seems like in the past few years, the main conceit of? "this game mixed with that game" has become more prominent than ever before.

Exhibit A: Deckbuilding Roguelikes

One of my favorite examples of a genre mashup is Mega Crit's 2017 indie darling Slay the Spire. This game has had a chokehold on me for over a year now, and in that time I've loaded 250 hours into it on my Switch. For those who aren't familiar, it's a deckbuilding roguelik??e, which happens to be two of my favorite genres in the first place.

Slay the Spire is a great game genre mashup

You completely start your deck over with each run, and getting to know the cards and how to max out your builds makes for a really fun gameplay loop. On their own, both deckbuilders and roguelikes mak??e learning the details of the game mechanics a core part of their design, so putting the two together is a match made in heaven. It's like peanut butter and chocolate two great things on their own make something even better when combined.

Deadpan Games also has a title coming up this year that I absolutely can't wait for: Wildfrost. It's a deckbuilding roguelike, just like Slay the Spire, only with an adorable, snow-and-ice theme. I'm honestly super excited to see the combo of these two subgenr?es becoming more prominent in the games space, because the?y make for endless fun and replayability.

Exhibit B: Neon White

Another recent game that's been getting a lot of love recently is Neon White, Angel Matrix's new speedrunning FPS puzzle-platformer. It's such a unique mix of gaming conventions that you have to list at least three different genres in its description, and I think that's beautiful. Neon White has been a standout ever since it premiered back in early 2021, and al??though I haven't gotten the opportunity to play it?? yet myself, from what I hear it's delivering on everything we could want from its premise.

Neon White demo screenshot

It's fast-paced and action-packed, but the game also requires you to think of each level like a puzzle. I love a game that gets me out of my comfort zone, and from what I can tell, Neon White will do just that. I've caught a few glimpses of my roommate playing, and they told me how much the game is challenging them to try new things and implement strategies that they normally wouldn't. In the same way that Hades pushed me to find a love of real-time combat, they insist that Neon White will help me get over my trouble with platforming. Neon White wasn't a game I was expecting to get excited for this year, but it is sitting pretty at the very top of my S?team wishlist.

Exhibit C: Eternights

We also have some more great genre mashup games on the horizon during Sony's State of Play last month, we got a first look at Studio Sai's dating sim/action game combo Eternights. With some dungeon-crawling mechanics and character relationships being at the forefront, it sounds like there's some Persona inspiration going on there.

Eternights screenshot

I love action games, but when you're bombarded with level after level of intense fight sequences, it can get a bit exhausting. On the other hand, even the most adorable of dating sims can feel like a grind to me sometimes because the gameplay doesn't vary all that much. Now there's obviously no way of knowing until I get my hands on it, but as of now I can imagine Eternights actually having a more agreeable pacing for me by contrasting fast-paced?? action moments with quieter story beats in the romance sections.

I ?could also imagine great character moments having to do with the mortal danger they're in during the fights. It's all speculation at this point, but as someone who loves both romance and action games, this is definitely one that I'm looking forward towhenever it comes out.

In conclusion...

The games I've listed here are only a few of the genre-mixing titles that I'm excited about t?here are so many more out there, and you can probably find one that combines two or more of your own favorite genres. One of the things I love most about video games is how quickly this industry innovates and iterates on the ideas that keep our games moving forward, and something as simple as combining motifs from different genres is a perfect example of developers' creativity at work.

Sometimes, all it takes to make something awesome that no one has ever seen before is combining two things that you alrea??dy love. When I'm at my most cynical, insisting that I've seen it all before, devs from small indie teams all the way up to AAA prove me wrong with ideas like genre ma??shups, and I honestly wouldn't want it any other way.

Get ready for the deckbuilding roguelike of your dreams

One of my favorite parts of my job is when I get to gush about the games I love, and no one can do anything to stop me. Slay the Spire is one of those cases.

Throughout the two-plus years we've been in quarantine, I've gone through phases where games absolutely consume my life. First it was Hades, and after clocking nearly 400 hours in that game, I finally decided to retire it. I have brief stints with both Stardew Valley and Breath of the Wild, which were both replays of comfort games, so they don't fully count. The next game that consumed my every waking hour, though, was Slay the Spire, which just so happens to be one of April's free PlayStation Plus games, and I need everyone to know how freaking amazing? it is.

Here's a crash course: Slay the Spire is a deckbuilding roguelike, which is such a fun combination of genres it make??s me wish there were more of them out there. The main premise is that there's this giant vertical spire you have to climb to the top of, floor by floor, encountering enemies, friends, and other surprises along the way.

It's kind of similar to FTL: Faster than Light in that you can see a map of the entire area between encounters, so you can plan your route accordingly. It's also like FTL because there are tons of random encounters that can really hurt you or help you depending on what you get. You slowly accumulate cards as ??you climb higher, and with any luck, build your deck ??full of super-powerful combos.

Gameplay specifics

You can play one of three classes: the Ironclad, a tanky fighter-type that uses blood magic in a high-risk, high-reward type of build, the Silent, which plays like a traditional rogue character with shivs and poison damage, and the Defect, which is a robot character that summons orbs with different abilities in combat (that last one is hard to explain succinctly, but it's one of the most creative combat mechanics I've seen in a game like this, and makes him my favorite class to play by far). There is also a fourth class that unlocks after you've played for a while, the Watcher, a monk-style character who enters stances of Calm and Wrath in extra high-risk, high-reward gameplay. She c?an be fun, but it's harder to get further with her due to how difficult she can be to play.

What really makes Slay the Spire stand out for me, though, are the relics. They're random objects that you can acquire that have powerful abilities, and they're far and away my favorite part of the game. Their powers range from g??iving extra gold or healing to making you deal more damage to helping you draw more cards per turn. The more you collect in a run, the more likely you are to get crazy overpowered, and those runs make for an insanely fun time.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="3333"]GAME ON: 'Slay the Spire' doesn't get old [Image Source: MegaCrit][/caption]

You get out what you put in

It's one of those games that gets more fun the more you play it. Getting to know the decks super well is a huge advantage, because you're able to craft the perfect build from the get-go. You also unlock new car??ds, relics, and potions as you go, most ?of which are specific to the class you're playing, which means if you plan around them, they can break your build in the best way.

If you get tired of grinding in the main c??ampaign, there's also a daily challenge mode where you take a run with special modifiers and compete online against other players for the highest score. I found this to be a really fun challenge, and a great way to switch it up after normal runs started to a get a bit stale. While I also like to ?play in hours-long marathon sessions, you start fresh with each run, meaning it's perfect to play in little chunks too, if you prefer that.

While Slay the Spire was originally released on the PC, I will say that it makes for an excellent Switch game. Sometimes control schemes don't translate well when a game is ported, but I personally like the Switch controls better. Plus, it even plays well on the touchscreen if you're playing handheld. It's also a great option to play if, like me, you like listening to podcasts when you game every so often.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1920"]Slay The Spire is the best new CCG on Steam - Polygon [Image Source: MegaCrit][/caption]

What are you waiting for? Just go play it

For having a pretty straightforward premise, I think Slay the Spire does an amazing job of balancing e?ach element just so to make it a finely-tuned, incredibly well d?esigned game.

Of all the games I've obsessed over, it probably has the least amount of content overall, and yet I've still managed to sink 250 hours in and I'm still not tired of it. The game has a cult following, but Slay the Spire deserves to be up there with some of the best indies just based on the quality of its gameplay design alone. I'm also hoping that we can persuade the devs to m?ake a sequel, or at least some DLC, and the more people join the bandwagon, the better the chance is of that happening.

If you're looking for a new title to sink your teeth into this month, you've gotta grab Slay the Spire if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription. If you don't, y?ou should totally just buy this game anyway, because if you ask me, it's totally worth the hype.

Multitasking at its finest

When I'm exhausted, my goal with media is to help me shut my brain off so I can relax a bit. One of my favorite ways to do that, I've found, is to play games while listening to a podcast, show, or some music at the same time. Do I need to bombard myself with stimuli to shu?t my brain up so I?? can breathe for a minute? Who's to say, but I do know that I think it's a lot of fun.

At this point I feel like something of a gaming-while-a?lso-listening-to-a-podcast connoisseur, and I've tried out a whole bunch of different titles so you don't have to. Without further ado, here is my list of the best games to play while you're also listening to something else.

Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire

Recently, this game has had a chokehold on me. Slay the Spire is a combination of my two favorite sub-??genres in games: deck??building and roguelikes. It's one of those games where the more time you put in, the more you'll get out of it, because you get to know the decks really well and start maximizing your builds. Turn-based gameplay makes it perfect for picking up and putting down any time you want to, and this is also just a well-designed game full of fun surprises that more people need to know about.

Hades

Theseus is a real nuisance in Hades

So I have around 400 hours in this game, and while that's be?cause it's a near-flawless action roguelike, it's always because it was the perfect activity to keep ??me engaged while I was listening to my podcast of choice. It's beyond worth it to play Hades the first time through with the sound on, trust me. Once you get a decent way into the post-game, though, you've pretty much heard everything there is to hear, and that's when a po??dcast is perfect.

Stardew Valley

Holding down a button to greet your Stardew Valley animals all at once is such a time-saver.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is another game I've put way too many hours into, and for good ?reason. The gameplay might feel a bit repetitive to some after a while??, but I find the routine relaxing, and the perfect way to keep myself occupied as I listen to, well, whatever I want to listen to. It's a modern classic of a simulator game, which is a genre that lends itself well to listening to podcasts, music, or shows in the background.

Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus

I definitely recommend playing this one the first time through with the sound on, because it's one of the most iconic soundtracks in all of gaming. In any subsequent playthroughs, though, this is a perfect game to use to pass the time. It has a much slower pace than more recent entries in the open-world action-adventure genre, which means it's a great option while you're traversing its expansive world.? You might need to pause and concentrate during the boss fights, though.

Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker

A classic mistak?e while trying to beat an especially difficult Mario Maker level is to think too hard, or as my Southern grandma would have said, to work yourself into a lather. I find that listening to something else while I'm trying to beat a game that's giving me trouble can be really helpful, because it keeps me from overthinking things, and distracts me just enough to get the ??job done.

The Binding of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac has gross sounds, so a podcast can help

I honestly prefer to play Binding of Isaac this way, because I find the sound design ?to be pretty grating. I know it's supposed to be like that, but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable. It's another roguelike, which means it can ?be played in perfect bite-sized bits, and isn't so overwhelming that you'll miss whatever your podcast hosts of choice are talking about.

Forza

Forza Horizon

This goes for most racing games, but Forza ca?n be a great way to keep yourself busy while listening to a podcast. Like a Hades or Cuphead, it's a real-time game so you're paying closer attention, and it's easy to get into a flow state. I've foun??d that paying attention to someone talking actually helps me play better, because I'm not overthinking what I'm doing.

Civilization

Civilization

Strategy games are another grea??t option, because they require that same type of flow state, engaged-but-not-really kind of thing. You reach a point, too, where a lot of stuff is going on its own anyway, so it falls into just the right level of attention it requires from you. Civilization, and other like games, also don't really require the average player to need the sound on, so it's fine to have any other audio you want going on? in the background.

Cuphead

Cuphead is weirdly easier with a podcast

The Mario Maker logic also applies here. I've been stuck on the same bo?ss in Cuphead for weeks (again), and having something else to concentrate on helps keep me from g?etting too frustrated when I keep dying. At this point, it feels more like I need a podcast on to help get me through the game, rather than wanting to just have something on in th?e background. Either way, it works well for me.

Buckle in, folks

I don't know abo?ut you, but I'm a bit of an anxious flyer. There's something about being on a plane that makes i??t impossible for me to get comfortable. I think it might have to do with being in such close proximity to strangers, especially right now. That can make it a bit difficult to get through the five-hour flight I've had to take to get home the past few years since I moved to the West Coast. Thankfully, gaming has been the one thing that seems to help during my holiday travels.

Of all the things I've trie?d to bring onto a plane to keep me busy, games seem to be the only thing I can have with me that helps me relax a little. I think it's because games are such an active activity, I usually get so involved with w??hat I'm playing that I completely forget I'm on a plane at all.

So, in an attempt to help any other travelers who get a bit nervous during their journey, here's my guide to the types of games to play when you're traveling. Oh, and I travel with my Nintendo Switch, so yo?u're going to need o?ne of those if you want to follow along.

Simulators

Sim gaming like Animal Crossing: New Horizons can relax you during holiday travels

Alright so you're gonna wanna go ahead ??and start with your favorite simulator game. I find these are great for the ride to the airport, waiting in li?ne for TSA, waiting at the gate, and waiting for takeoff once you've boarded. They're obviously some of the most relaxing games you can play, which is going to help you deal with all the stress of getting through the airport.

Animal Crossing is a great one as you can use this time to get all your da??ily chores done, but Stardew Valley is also a solid go-to for me here because it divides up time into nice, digestible chunks. You need to wait an hour? Nah, that's only four d??ays in Stardew time. Plus, the slow-paced nature of this game means that you can easily look up from your console as ne?eded without risk of dying or loss of progress.

Other good simulator games to try are My Time at Portia, Sto??ry of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, Spiri??tfarer, and Farming Simulator.

Turn-based

Ace Attorney can be a good change of pace during holiday travel, especially on a plane

If you're someone who needs a little more action in your life, turn-based games are a great way to go. Like simulators, they're easy to have going when you're multitasking, because they kind of pause themselves every few seconds while waiting for you to do your button input, whether it's making your turn or simpl?y pressing A to progress the dialogue. These are great for any of the lead up to your trip, plus the first half of your flight when you're waiting to be interrupted by the drink cart.

My favorite turn-b??ased or otherwise visual-novel-esque games to travel with are Ace Attorney and Slay the Spire. Ace Attorney has the benefit of its ep??isode structures, because I can make it through one during the five-hour flight it takes to get back to the East Coast. Slay the Spire is such a fun game and it's ho??nestly slept on it's a deck-builder roguelike that's perfect to play in short bursts.

Other great turn-based or visual-novel-styl?e games to try are Pokemon (duh), Octopath Traveler, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario: The Origami King, and pretty much any of the famous JRPGs.

Immersive

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can distract your from travel woes

Okay, this one will come in clutch for any o??f my other anxious flyers?? out there download an open-world game you know you love. You're gonna start playing, and soon you're going to be so consumed with what you're doing that you totally forget about your holiday travels. Anything with real-time action will be your best friend, because it forces you to focus more on what you're doing.

My personal go-to is Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, because no matter where I jump into a save file, I can immediately have fun with it. It's become some?thing of a comfort game on planes for me, honestly. I've also considered trying ??out shooters that I know I enjoy like the BioShock series, because the storytelli?ng and gameplay are so involved, I think it would have the same effect. More than genre, what's key here is to find a game that you feel sucked into.

Other immersive games to play while trave??ling are Minecraft, The Witcher 3, Monster Hunter, ?Assassin's Creed, and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Twitchy

Hades might be the perfect game to play while traveling

If all else fails, that's alright, we just need to bring out the big guns. If I'm really having a hard time on the plane, I put on whatever game has the twitchiest controls I can find. I want fast-paced, real-time gameplay that requires dodging, strategy, timed jumps, and so on. These types of mechanics not only require all of my attention, but my a?ctive brainpower, so I really have no other choice than to focus on the game over my anxiety.

The one catch with this one is that you usually need to bring a Switch Pro Controller along, set up the screen on the ??tray table, and play that way. It actually works pretty well, if you don't mind the extra bit of hassle. Hades is hands down my go-to for th??is, and has gotten me through those last few exhausti??ng hours of the flight pretty nicely.

Other twitchy games to try are Hollow Knight, Celeste, Cuphead, Super Smash Bros., and re??ally any other fighting game that you might enjoy.

Man, typing this all out really makes me feel crazy, but this is really the process I go through playing game?s during my travels. If nothing else, I hope that this could help someone else as they navigate one of the most stressful times of the year. And of course, feel free to give these a try if you're just at home needing an escape from your family this Christmas. I have a feeling I'm going to this year. Good luck out there, gamers.

Blindfolded Sekiro, a Slay the Spire run, and more

Ch?arity speedrunning event Awesome Games Done Quick has finalized the schedule for its 2022 event. And it's a pretty solid, surpr??isingly modern lineup filled with a lot of runs that seem like they'll make for excellent showcases.

The event will run from Jan. 9, 2022 through Jan. 15. If you're new to Games Done Quick, runners will showcase their talents of getting through games in surprising ways as fast as possible. Demonstrations? happen around the clock, and often categories will feature unique parameters or even competition, adding some extra fun.

The full Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 schedule is live here, and the site will adapt to your local t?ime-zone as the event goes on, so it's worth checking back on when AGDQ is live.

Highlights in my eyes are definitely some of the stranger runs. I'm a big Slay the Spire fan, so a four-character unseeded run of the game sounds incredible; same goes for the Hades All Weapons Race and Risk of Rain 2 Any% runs. With a Returnal run on the schedule too, it's a good year for rogueli??te running.

There's a surprising number of recent releases on the list this year, including Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Axiom Verge 2, Lost Judgement, and bonus game Resident Evil Village. It seems like runn?ers have spent a lot of time already breaking down the newer games for showcase-ready runs.

Some impressive exhibitions are on display as well, like The Centurion category for Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and a blindfolded Any% run of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I don't even know how you get that done. And I'm also a sucker for long RPG runs, so count me in for the five-hour estimate Final Fantasy XIII run on Tuesday morning.

Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 will once again be held online this year, for the health and safety of its staff and participants. And GDQ has, in my view, made an excellent jump to virtual events due to health concerns over the last year or so. Last year's event raised over $2.75 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundatio??n. I'm? eager to see how this year's event shapes up, too.
