The recent critical and commercial success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has cemented this collection of live action ??films based on Sega's iconic mascot as one of the best video game adaptations (and best movie trilogies) in the industry. As a result of their huge cultural impact, fans all around the world have fallen in love with its colorful cast of characters.

Whether they're humans portrayed by famous actors or anthropomorphic animals voiced by talented voice actors; whether they are new incarnations of iconic figures from the original video games or they were specifically created for the movies, the characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie trilogy are as likable as they're well-written. The only question is: Who are the absolute best ones in the series? (so far...)

10) Wade Whipple

  • Portrayed by: Adam Pally
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Wade Whipple greets Knuckles in the morning.

On paper, Wade Whipple is supposed to be a minor comic relief character. He's Tom's police officer friend who appeared in a few brief but hilarious scenes in both Sonic 1 and Sonic 3. However, his most prominent cinematic appearance was in Sonic 2, where he has an entire subplot with Agent Stone ??that perfectly displayed the comedic chops of both chara??cters (and actors).

But Wade became way bigger than expected due to the Knuckles TV show, where he felt more of a protagonist than the red echidna himself. As a result, Wade now is quite a polarizing character among Sonic the Hedgehog fans, but he's overall a very funny comic relief whose his presence is always appreciated because he never overstays his welcome. After all, who can hate the man responsible for the "Flame??s of Disaster!" meme?

9) Maria Robotnik

  • Portrayed by: Alyla Browne
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024)

Shadow meets Maria Robotnik.

Longtime Sonic the Hedgehog fans were hoping that Paramount Pictures and Sonic 3 director Jeff Fowler would faithfully adapt Shadow the Hedgehog's tragic backstory from Sonic Adventure 2 into the big-screen and, much to their delight, they delivered on that promise. While there are some obvious differences, Shadow's past was mostly left intact, as it's still cent??ered on his heartwarming friendship with Maria Robotnik.

The movie version of Maria is as friendly, kind and lovely as the one from the game, but she also feels a little bit more realistic, since she acts more like?? an actual girl her age. While we only saw her in a few flashbacks, the movie expanded on her relationship with Shadow in really adorable ways, which made her inevitable death all the more heartbreaking. This version of Maria worked so well that it helped make Shadow and Gerald Robotnik's revenge pl?an all the more understandable (even though it still was cruel and unfair).

8) Gerald Robotnik

  • Portrayed by: Jim Carrey
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024)

Gerald Robotnik's introduction.

Jim Carrey stood out in these movies since day one, thanks to his portrayal of Dr. Eggman. However, he returned for Sonic 3 in a dual role, not only as Ivo Robotnik, but also as his long-lost grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. These two evil geniuses ended up becoming the comedic highlights of an otherwise dark movie, and their c??hemistry was palpable. This is quite surprising when we remember that Carrey was acting with himself all the time.

But what ?makes Gerald Robotnik a really fascinating antagonist is his abrupt and shocking evil turn in the movie's third act, where he reveals that he's actually planning to destroy the entire world due to his resentment towards all of humanity which was born after G.U.N. killed his granddaughter, Maria. This sudden shift made what once was a goofy non-serious villain into an intimidating threat, and his final showdown with Ivo was both funny and emotional. This Gerald is obviously very different from his game counterpart, but this didn't take from the fact that he was a surprisingly solid villain.

7) Tom and Maddie Wachowski

  • Portrayed by: James Marsden (Tom) Tika Sumpter (Maddie)
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Tom and Maddie infiltrate G.U.N.
Screenshot via Paramount Pictures/YouTube

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) focused mainly on the titular character and his relationship with Tom Wachowski, a completely new human character that Paramount specifically created for this film. This honestly seemed like an uninspired choice at first, since Tom was a relatively generic char?acter, but it ended up working quite well, since his story was simple yet effective, and he had some solid chemistry with the blue blur.

Tom's wife, Maddie, didn't get much to do in that first movie, but she became a much more prominent character in the sequel. Fortunately, in Sonic 3, they form a dynamic duo who can work together so perfectly that they managed to infiltrate G.U.N.'s headquarters in a brief but hilarious sequence. Granted, both Tom and Maddie have taken a bit of a backseat during the sequels in order to make space for all the anthropomorphic animals and evil scientists, but they still took on the im??portant role of Sonic's parental figures who are always there to take care of him and help him grow. Their adorable relationship with the hedgehog is enough to make Tom and Maddie into two equally compelling characters that should keep making appearances in future inst??allments.

6) Agent Stone

  • Portrayed by: Lee Majdoub
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Agent Stone talking to Dr. Robotnik.

Eggman has had many henchmen throughout the years, like Scratch and Grounder from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog or Orbot and Cubot from the recent video games. Nevertheless, when it came to giving Jim Carrey's Robotnik a new henchman for the very first Sonic movie, the writ??ers at Paramount came up with none other than Agent Stone, Eggman's assistant and best friend.

Lee Majdoub's performance is both hilarious and endearing, as he (and the writers) managed to turn Stone from a generic evil henchman into a lovely friend to Robotnik, who's always ready to help him with his evil plans and/or to prepare some lattes with steamed Austrian goat milk for him. It's not common for fans of a game franchise to fall in love with a movie-only character, but Agent Stone has gotten so popular among Sonic fans that many of them are practically begging Sega to introduce him to th??e games as Eggman's new h??enchman. If they make them have as much chemistry as in the mov??ies, this could end up working extremely well for the vid??eo game series.

5) Miles “TailsPrower

  • Voiced by: Colleen O'Shaughnessey
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Tails arrives on Earth to find music.
Screenshot via Paramount Pictures/YouTube

Tails sadly didn't get much screen time to shine in his introductory movie, seeing as it focused more on Knuckles and his rivalry with Sonic. Fortunately, however, in just a few short scenes, the film managed to make their brand-new friendship with all the more believable and adorable. In pretty much every single Sonic the Hedgehog m??edia, Tails acts as Sonic's younger brother, and this movie series is no ?exception.

As its tradition, Tails is a lovable and intelligent young fox that brings some much-needed youthful energy to these films, not to mention that all of his gadgets, weapons and vehicles have been so useful that I don't think Sonic Team would have ever been able to succeed in either of the two sequels without him. This is yet another perfect adaptation of this classic character, but he just needs a bit more screen time, so I seriously hope he either gets his own spin-off TV show or?? a more prominent role in the upc??oming fourth movie.

4) Knuckles the Echidna

  • Voiced by: Idris Elba
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)

Knuckles unlocks the Flames of Disaster.
Screenshot via Paramount Plus/YouTube

Knuckles the Echidna has been quite inconsistently portrayed throughout the years. Sometimes he's strong and serious, but others he's just dumb and goofy. Sonic fans were understandably worried of how Paramount was going to make him act and sound in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 but, thankfully, this t??urned out to be one of the best and most beloved interpretations of the character.

Movie Knuckles is everything he needed to be (and more): He's serious and is always looking for a fight, but he's also a bit naive and arrogant. These two sides of his personality perfectly complement each other, making him a really fun character that always shines in every scene he appears in. Knuckles' relationship with Sonic and his personal character development were two of the best elements of Sonic 2, and he even went to have another excellent (albeit a bit more minor) role in the third film. He also got the chance to shine a bit more in the Knuckles TV series, but, as I m?entioned previously, that show focused more on Wade Whipple.

3) Shadow the Hedgehog

  • Voiced by: Keanu Reeves
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)

Shadow meets Sonic Team in Japan.
Screenshot via Paramount Pictures/YouTube

Shadow the Hedgehog is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic anti-heroes in gaming and one of the most popular characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The success of Sonic 3 greatly depended on whether the director and writers could pull off this adaptation of the ??"Ultimate Life Form". Needless to say (and thankfully for?? Paramount Pictures) the movie version of Shadow ended up being as edgy, cool and tragic as everybody was expecting, and it resulted in the film becoming a major critical success.

It's all about balance, because Shadow is a cool-looking and sounding character who excels in every scene he appears, while still maintaining an important element of emotion and tragedy, which are crucial for the character. As a result of this impeccable characterization, his interactions with Sonic - both their heartwarming conversations and their amazing battles - are the absolute best parts of the entire movie. Despite the fact that he only appeared in one movie so far, this is such a perfect portrayal of Shadow that he could easily star in his ve??ry?? own feature film or TV show.

2) Sonic the Hedgehog

  • Voiced by: Ben Schwartz
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Screenshot via Paramount Pictures/YouTube

The formula to make a video game character as iconic and beloved as Sonic the Hedgehog work in a movie was quite simple, yet effective: Write him as? an aspiring superhero, who begins his journey as a cocky and im?mature kid who doesn't know what to do with his amazing superpowers and, slowly and throughout the course of 3 films, learns that he wants to use them to protect both his loved ones and the entire world.

Sonic's development already make him a compelling pr?otagonist, but his characterizaton is also absolutely perfect (which Ben Schwartz helped elevate with his impeccable voice performance) as mo??vie Sonic is funny, lighthearted, arrogant and strong. He does love making constant pop culture references a little too often, but that's not enough to ruin what is otherwise an incredible and iconic protagonist. Paramount has a great character in its hands, and Sonic is definetely going to keep shining in every future movie he appears.

1) Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Eggman)

  • Portrayed by: Jim Carrey
  • First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3.
Screenshots via Paramount Pictures/YouTube

Let's be real: Jim Carrey's excellent performance as Dr. Ivo Robotnik AKA Eggman is the best part of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. Yes, this may have started off as ye??t another goofy and over-the-top Carrey character but he gradually transformed into the Dr. Eggman we all know and love, in both terms of appearance and personality. This legendary comedic actor brought his a-game in order to transform Eggman into one of the most hilarious and lovable movie villains ever made.

Granted, this incarnation of Dr. Robotnik can lean way too much into the comedy side of the character, but he still can be extremely intimidating (like at the end of Sonic 2) and heroically inspiring (like at the end of Sonic 3). This character is so amazing that he even encouraged his actor to come out of reti??rement just to portray once again for the third movie. While it's impossible to know what future holds for this version of Eggman, Carrey has already stated that he will return ??for a fourth time if he's interested in the script. I seriously hope Paramount Pictures will be able to get him to join one more time, because the live action Sonic the Hedgehog films wouldn't be the same without Eggman.

And it's not even finished its world tour

Paramount Pictures has revealed that the blockbuster Sonic sequel is continuing to pull in the punters as it speeds its way through worldwide theaters. As reported by Deadline, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has smas?hed past an incredible $400 million USD box office since its release in?? April of this year.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=47r8FXYZWNU

The movie, already pushing to be the highest-gro??ssing video game adaptation of all time, sees The Blue Blur (voiced by Ben Schwartz), in a race against the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) to recover the fabled Chaos Emeralds. Sonic is assisted on his journey by long-time pal Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and must face down the powerful and mysterious echidna, Knuckles (Idris Elba). The sequel was praised for its comical script and likable characters, but criticized for its length ??and relatively rote narrative.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently number eight in the Top Ten Highest Grossing Movies of 2022, with the sequel still yet to hit the financially lucrative box office markets of Hong Kong and Japan, which will likely add further coffers to the Paramount Pictures vault. Of course, the incredible success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a consistent reminder of how things could have been so different for the cinematic adaptation. Still, it's good to know ?that the "ori?ginal" movie Sonic still eventually found his way into cinema history.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is available now on streaming services, with a Blu-ray and DVD release planned for August. Sonic Origins launches today?? on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Sw??itch.

Sonic boom, sonic boom, sonic boom

I try not to have opinions about the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It’s dangerous. What’s wrong with the series? Wh??y does it have such a ravenous fanbase? What games are good? Which ones are bad?

Well, we certainly go back to the Sega Genesis titles a lot, which is what Sonic Origins is. I’m pretty sure I’ve accidentally bought Sonic the Hedgehog more times than I’ve intentionally bought any other game. Sonic Origins promises to be more of a remaster,? but that's a weird way to use that word. It’s widescreen now. I guess that’s something.

Sonic Origins Chemical Plant Zone

Sonic Origins (PS4, PS5 [Reviewed], PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch)
Developer: Sega
Publisher: Sega
Released: June 23, 2022
MSRP: $39.99

For the record, Sonic Origins is a compilation of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Admittedly, there’s a lot more to Sonic Origins than just widescreen ports; the upgrades are just very granular. I could go down the list of changes, but they don’t amount to a whole lot. Some of them you have to pay extra for, which is absolutely galling.

The changes are mostly to be found in each game’s anniversary mode. Titles that couldn’t support different character configurations now do. You can play as Tails or Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog. You can play as Tails and Knuckles as a pair in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Tails is also in Sonic CD (but not Knuckles).

Notably, in anniversary mode, limited lives have been removed. While I can’t say I miss them, the games were developed around them being an obstacle. Without limited lives, the games are all a lot easier. Making progress is as simple as barrelling ahead to the next checkpoint. You can choose to play in classic mode, which restores them to their former difficulty, but then you don’t get the widescreen option, so/p>

[embed]//youtu.be/ZzHXjAJ86Zw[/embed]

The processing is just so blast!

Another big addition in Sonic Origins is animated cutscenes that bookend the games. That?’s a neat idea, since the original games mostly had their stories told exclusively through the medium of instruction manual (and no??t all that accurately). They’re not very enlightening, as they’re short skits without dialogue, but they set the stage reasonably well. The early series narratives were basic to begin with abstract to the point of confusing so the added cartoons definitely do their job.

There’s the obligatory museum that I have never been capable of getting enthused over. It’s useful if you want to play the "drowning music" on loop. Because who doesn’t want to listen to the musical representation of anxiety r??epeatedly? Some things you need to unlock using coins, which are given to the player as a bonus instead of the lives and continues that the original Sega Genesis releases doled out. However, that’s not the best use for coins.

Coins are used to retry those horrible Chaos Emerald bonus stages when you fail at them. That way, you might be able to see the actual ending to some of these games instead of just a screen that informs you of your disappointing performance and asks you to “Try Again. Those aren’t how bonus stages are supposed to work. That’s just how Sega prepared c??hildren for a society t??hat provides insufficient incentive for ceaseless suffering.

Sonic Origins Bonus Stage

Widescreen!

Mission mode is probably what interests me the most in Sonic Origins. Playing through all four games in the collection sounds daunting. Sonic games aren’t the longest, but they certainly aren’t the shortest. However, it shows a level of cohesion you don’t get in many game collections. It wouldn’t work for every series out there, but the Sonic games are similar enough that they flow together well. I’m not sure why Sonic CD comes before Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but I guess it works.

It’s really not that there aren’t any improvements to these games. I don’t want to undersell how difficult it likely is to repurpose a Sega Genesis game into widescreen. The whole idea behind the new collection was apparently to “modernizethe games; moving them into a new engine (amusingly called the "Retro Engine") rather than simply emulating them. If that’s the case, why stop with widescreen? Why not add new levels now that they’re in a modern engine? Couldn't they have added Metal Sonic as a playable character to add some value? Why not add in the extra animations of Sonic Mania rather than just the drop dash mechanic? Sonic Origins just doesn't impress.

There’s also a bit of controversy about them replacing parts of the soundtrack in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, presumably due to the wider acknowledgment that Michael Jackson was involved in their composition. Maybe. Initially, I thought this would be a small change that I wouldn’t notice because I’m daft and don’t typically notice minute alterations. However, the instant Knuckles made his introduction, it was obvious to me. It just feels wrong. I donâ€??™t even have a tonne of nostalgia for the title or its soundtrack, but it just doesn?’t feel like it matches.

I just can't

He's still the fastest thing alive

I am very much behind the idea of re-releasing older games on newer hardware. The industry has only recently become forward-thinking and begun giving token consideration to the preservation of games. But the Sonic the Hedgehog games for Sega Genesis aren’t at risk of becoming unplayable. Do you know what is? The Game Gear Sonic the Hedgehog games, or Knuckles Chaotix. I would probably be a lot more p?olite if they were included here.

But!

There are a few situations where you should still jump on Sonic Origins. The first is the very rare chance that you don’t al?ready own these games somewhere. The improvements her??e are so minor that I wouldn’t recommend buying these games again for the sake of them. Really, my favorite new feature is being able to replay bonus levels because gathering the necessary rings can be so onerous.

Another reason would be if you want to introduce these titles to the younger generation. The removal of the rather stingy lives/continues system makes them much friendlier experiences. There’s no getting to the end boss, choking, and having to start over. While the games in Sonic Origins were obviously designed around them, the existence of lives in video games was mostly just to make sure we couldn’t rent games and beat them overnight. That’s not really a reality anymore. Corporations? have new and exciting ways to make children suffer. They donâ€??™t need our dusty old methods.

Gotta Get Cash

Sega has proudly announced that Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is officially the hig??hest-grossing movie adaptation of a video game franchise at th??e U.S. box office.

The colorful, action-packed sequel has smashed a $331 million USD in U.S. ticket sales, surpassing that of its predecessor, Sonic the Hedgehog, which raked in an equally impressiv??e $319 million during its spring 2020 release run. For the sake of clarity, it should be noted that the original movie was released during the early days of the global COVID-19?? lockdown legislation, which obviously hampered the film's initial performance at the box office.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=47r8FXYZWNU

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which opened April 8 in North American movie theaters and March 31 in international territories, had a fantastic launch, grossing $72.1 million in its U.S. ??opening weekend while debuting at No.1 in the box office charts in 47 global markets. The sequel is still yet to open in Japan, which will only serve to add higher numbers to the film's bottom line. Directed by Jef??f Fowler, the movie follows The Blue Blur, his buddy Tails, and their human pals as they attempt to wrest control of the mysterious Chaos Emerald away from no-goodnik Dr. Robotnik and a mysterious echidna known as "Knuckles."

Of course, the forever fascinating footnote to this entire affair is the controversy that plagued the initial trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog. The disas??trous reception to Sonic's initial appearance led to the entire character design (and all related merchandise) being scrapped and restarted. It was a studio decision that, without a doubt, saved the film series from being remembered as one of gaming's greatest calamities, and a reminder that, sometimes, it's best to simply not mess with the classics.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 opens in Japanese theaters on August 19.

Our little Tails is all grown up

At this point of late-stage-capitalism internet, nothing surprises me anymore. When I saw that Sega had turned precious little Tails into a Vtuber I was like, "of course they did." There's also the fact that Sonic got the same treatment last year, so we really should have seen this one coming. He's going to have his own show called TailsTube, and while all we know so far is that the first episode is dropping sometime next week, there is a teaser up on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter to give us a small taste of what ??we're in for.

He tells us that he'll be answering some frequently asked questions, and will "maybe even bring on some specia??l guests on the show," and if I know anything, that means he totally will have special guests on. The capt??ion on the announcement tweet also says that TailsTube will be "fun and informative." What he's informing us on, I'm not entirely sure, but at least it will be conveyed to us in a charming, adorable way, as is expected of Tails, even if I do feel that VTubing treads a bit too far into the uncanny valley for my liking.

This news comes just in time for some big releases that are on the horizon from the Sonic brand the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie hits theaters on April 8, where Tails will be making his debut in that version of the Sonic universe.

The other big release is the next main entry in the Sonic video game series, Sonic Frontiers, and is excepted to drop sometime in late 2022. The game will feature an open world map with multiple biomes that the player can explore, and will have a story written by comic book writer Ian Flynn, who is a veteran of the Sonic franchise.

Sounds like Sonic fans have a lot of great?? stuff to look forward t?o.

Sonic 3, and Knuckles

Paramount is putting more Sonic the Hedgehog productions into development. A third Sonic the Hedgehog movie is officially in development, and? next year a live-action series featuring Knuckles will come to Paramount+.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 doesn't premiere for the public until April 8, but it seems like Paramount is keen on keeping the Blue Blur running. Details aren't out yet on where the third movie will go, but Paramount has confirmed that the Knuckles series will still have Idris Elba on board. The Paramount+ Sonic series will premiere sometime in 2023.

//twitter.com/paramount?plus/status??/1493706463704858625

Despite a rough start with that first trailer, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie went on to garner a pretty decent showing. In a press release today, Paramount says the first adaptation has earned nearly $320 million in the worldwide b??ox office.

A third movie is one thing, but a live-action series is pretty interesting. Long-time Sonic fans know that the hedgehog has had several TV adaptations already, but all animated. With this ??one being live-action, it seems like Paramount is building up a ??bit of a Sonic universe.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRkKZG1z9PY

The next game for the Blue Blur, Sonic Frontiers, is set for late 2022. As shown off at last year's Game Awards, Frontiers is an open-world take on the speedster's exploits, coming to current and next-gen ??consoles.

It's been quite a big year so far for Sega's speedy star, between what's coming out now and even more in development. Hopefully we see more of the Sonic crew hit the silver screen in future adaptations. Between characters like Amy and Shadow??, there's still a lot of runw?ay for Sonic stories to cover.

Chaos Emerald Eyes

Video game film adaptations, much like live-action anime adaptations, can really be hit or miss. For every Mortal Kombat (1995) there's a Mortal Kombat (2021). It's probably best to go into these movies with low expectations. At worst, their awfulness doesn't shock you. At best, they can completely surprise you with how fun and watchable they are. That's what happened to me with Sonic the Hedgehog. While not anything amazing, it easily hurdled the low bar set by its contemporaries to be what I consider the best film adaptation of a video game. After watching the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 trailer during The Game Awards last night, i??t looks like the sequel is poised to clear that bar as well.

From Jeff Fowler, director of the first Sonic film and an upcoming Pink Panther reboot, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 continues the story of the Blue Blur as he adjusts to our world and battles new threats brought by a returning Eggman. The entire cast is back on board with Ben Schwartz returning as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Robotnik, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Tom and Maddie Wachow??ski. Rounding out the cast this time are Idris Elba as Knuckles and Colleen O'Shaughnes??sey as Tails, a development I'm particularly excited about given how often the film industry gives these types of roles to big-name actors rather than voice talent.

For as long as Knuckles has been an ally of Sonic, it's easy to forget he got his start in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as an unwitting antagonist who sided with Eggman. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will release exclusively in? theate??rs on April 8, 2022.

This is a family film, y'all

Actor Idris Elba will be playing Knuckles the Echidna in the upcoming sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. And no, he's not trying to make it sexy.

Elba has played many a suave heartthrob in his time, but in an interview with ScreenRant, the actor confirmed that he's not trying to add any of that kind of heat to the role. When asked how his, as ScreenRant phrases it, "history of debonair English characters" would pla??y into his Knuckles performance, here's what he had to say:

"Honestly, I cannot say. Contractually, I?? cannot say anything. But I wouldn't say he was sexy. I don't think I'm going for that. That's for sure."

Look, on the one hand, no one should be surpri?sed. This is a family movie, y'all. Everyone needs to take a breather. But also, Idris Elba has an incredible voice and I'm now frankly curious what his Knuckles portrayal will even sound like. Point is, let's cool down, and keep these sweet, innocent actors far, far away from the fan art.

The Sonic movie even getting a sequel should already be exciting enough, after the extensive redesigns it went through over the lukewarm reception its original look received. By some accounts it sounds like the movie was still at least somewhat successful; at least enough to make a sequ??el and tie in an actor like Idris Elba.

So while those looking for a sexier Knuckles will have to look elsewhere—there's a sentence I never envisioned myself typing until now—the Sonic sequel is ?still getting made, and let's le??t that be that.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set for April 8, 2022.
