Whoooo?

Earlier this year, we hosted a contest on the official Destructoid Twitch channel where several streamers battled it out to impress us with their skills and personalities to win $5,000. As of the time of writing, we’re currently hosting a second one, albeit with a more impressive $10,000 prize, sp??onsored by ?Gfuel!

Although she didn’t win the contest, we were so impressed with one of the entrants – Anabela – that we’ve hired her to stream on our channel every single Friday.

Well, we decided that we should work on a t-shirt design for Anabela. Behold, the latest design for our merch ?store:

Created by Ashley Hay, our latest Whoooo? design is available to buy right now on the official Destructoid merch store, and can be printed on t-shirt??s, tote bags, face masks, hoodies and all sorts of other products.

The design itself features an in-joke with Anabela’s community on her own Twitch channel, although it’s likely? to make it over to our own one. Besides, the owl featured on the design is kind of adorabl??e.

As always, most of the profits from each product on our store go to the artists who designed them. So feel free to check out all of the lovely stuff that ?we have for sale.

Available now at the Dtoid Merch shop

Once uttered by Boll,
Destructoid's famous motto.
“Also, cocks;” our phrase.

Our latest t-shirt,
Created by Ashley Hay,
Available now.

It's quite evident,
We're not ones for subtlety.
The message is clear.

Yet still it’s quite cute,
Just so highly endearing.
A classic, reborn.

In green, black, and white,
On mugs, towels, hoodies, and more,
From our new merch store.

Thanks for the feedback,
To those on our new forums,
It helped us a tonne.

On Dtoid's merch store,
There's many sexy designs.
Thanks for the support!

Shilling in haiku,
God help me, why’d I try this?
There's a clear reason.

Ghost of Tsushima,
Occupies all my free time.
I have a problem.

This post’s at an end.
So, in those immortal words;
“Also, cocks.” Goodbye.

Your name, as printed on an official Dtoid shirt

It’s finally here.

Back when we first announced the opening of ou??r new merch store, we mentioned that soon we’d soon be releasing a shirt featuring the ?names o?f many of our beloved community members. And here it is.

From today, you can now purchase a shirt design featuring ?our site mascot, Mr. Destructoid, rendered in ASCII art made up o??f community member names.

Designed by Eric Weichhart, who our Twitch viewers may recognise as the guy who endlessly torments one of our two official streamers for your amusement, the jbsgame.community ASCII shirt is available in two colour schemes; white and green. You can get it printed on t-shirts (obviously), hoodies, stick??ers, and face ma??sks.

Well over one hundred community members put their names down to be featured on this shirt design, and we legitimately couldn’t be happier with the turn-out. So, as a special bonus, from now until July 25, you can enter the promo code DTOIDFAM at the checkout for 20% off your?? order for this shirt!

We're bringing back a design from 2014

Today, we’re ??bringing back a Destructoi??d shirt that’s nostalgic in a couple of ways.

Designed by the highly talented Drew Wise and inspired by the box art for a certain retro games console, this shirt was first featured on the Dest?ructoid Store back in 2014.

The Pixel Destructoid is now available on our merch store, and can be printed on t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and all sorts of other swag. And fo?r those occasions where you do need to go out during this accused plague, you can look sexy as hell by wearing a face mask featuring this design.

On a semi-related note: we’re currently collecting feedback for our jbsgame.community ASCII shirt, now that all the names on it have been locked in. So head on over to our forums and let us know what you think!

An original T-Shirt designed by Triggerpigking

Today??, we’re? introducing a brand new shirt design to the Destructoid merch store.

Designed by jbsgame.community member Triggerpigking, the shirt features our site mascot Mr. Destructoid, but in the style of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

You might find yourself asking how such a design came into being. A while ago, the folks from our podcast, Podtoid, commissioned him to do the header image for their Twitter profile. An early prototype of the design was featured in the background of the header picture, which we found to b??e amusing.

Suffice it to say, we just had to commission a full shirt design based off of it.

As with all other designs on our merch store, you can also get it printed on m??ugs, tote bags, cushions, and other goods! Alongside that, the majority ?of proceeds go towards the artist, so go show them a bit of love.

On a somewhat related note, we’re also collecting feedback on a brand new shirt based off of our long-standing site motto; “Also Cocks.” Feel free to check out the accompanying forum thread and let us know what you think.

Destructoid has brand new forums! To sign up, go to forums.jbsgame.com register for a new account, and bookmark that while you're at it. Please give us 24-48 hours to approve your account. The forums are now in public beta, but still not yet linked on our site navigation or anywhere but this post as we continue to test. Many thanks to everyone from Qtoid that has already registered and contributed feedback.

And yes, yes, we had forums in the past and they imploded (RIP). I'm told those forums are long gone. Starting from scratch as one of your new community managers, my goal is to make our forums the very best they can, and a truly welcoming place. We're starting over with slicker new software and a brand new moderation team, including fine folks like RiffRaff and all the Dis?qus mods you already know so well. P??lease lend us your full support.

Speaking of support, we’re also pleased to announce the opening of the brand?? new Destructoid T-Shir?t and Semi-Erotic Merchandise store. Tell your lover you need these items and be sure to use the code EARLYBIRDS to get free shipping within the continental US:

//teespring.com/stores/dtoid

We have mugs, wall throws, pillowcases, phone cases, posters, as well as other miscellaneous Destructoid-themed gear. Heck, you could redecorate a fair bit of your office and residence with our ever-foreboding robot mascot. If you enjoy what we do here at Destructoid, we'd love your support, as 100% of the proceeds go towards helping cover our server costs and supporting all of our writers through these wild times. We?? will also be doing regular giveaways so if you're broke we'll try to get you in our gear one way or another, don't even sweat it.

It goes without saying that Destructoid needs your support as many of our sponsors all went into hiding with the rest of us during COVID, and we're certainly open to suggestions on other ways you'd prefer to support us if shirts are not your thing. If you can spare some shillings, awesome. We're also throwing work at our artist community: Over the next few months, we're going to be collaborating with various artists, including EricW (from Dtoid Twitch) and a collection of new shirts designed by the talented Ashley Hay, and re-colored limited designs from years past, so keep your eyes peeled for those. These shirts will definitely make you 69% more attractive, as verified by our data scientists and lawyers. If you'd like to pitch a D??toid shirt or merch idea do find us in the new forums and send us your sketches.

As mentioned at the top of this story, you can get your name printed on an official piece of ??Destructoid merchandise. You absolutely read that correctly.

Next month, we'll be releasing a shirt featuring our site mascot, Mr. Destructoid, rendered in ASCII art. The text used ?to create this image will be made up of usernames of jbsgame.community and our writers and contributors.

To be featured in this design, all you have to do is follow these instructions. You have until the end of Ju?ne. Follow the instructions there, and you may be featured on this new shirt. We'll be doing a contest to give some shirts away (as store credits) so if you buy one now you can win a different one later.

Anyway, that's a bit of every??thing then. New forums, new shop. It's a circus of values!

Both are by a talented Dtoid community member!

Today, we’re proudly reintroducing two old school Destructoid shirt designs to our merch store – both of which were designed by Meanderbot; a highly talented member of our own community.

The first shirt is a reference to an old Dtoid podcast where there was an oft-repeated plea: “Be Better People.” In his blog post promoting the shirt, Meanderbot implies that he felt inspired by this message. When you pick up a Destructoid shirt, most p?roceeds go towards the artists, so show them some love!

The second of these shirts? Well, its inspirations are apparent from just a single glance, featuring Mr. Destructoid as the mascot for a specific Japan-?exclusive atta?chment to a certain popular line of retro game consoles.

As with all other designs on our store, you can get them printed on mugs, phone c??ases, wall tapestries, and all sorts of other Destructoid collectibles.

We’ll be continuing to add more designs to our merch store over the next few weeks and months. Some of which are returning designs, others are entirely new. You may even see more stuff by some familiar faces from within our site’s community, so keep your e?yes out for those!

On a related note, there’s still a little bit of time left to put ?your name down to be featured on the upcoming jbsgame.community ASCII shirt. Feel free to head on over to our forums to find out how.

100% of profits will go to aid Black Lives Matter

About a week ago, we unveiled the new, official Destructoid merch store to the public. In the introduction post to it, I mentioned that over? the coming few weeks and months, we’d be introducing more designs.

Today, we’re starting to make good on that promise with a brand new design. For a limited time, we’ll be selling a fun??draiser s??hirt supporting the Black Lives Matter Global Network. It doesn't carry any company branding, and 100% of all proceeds will be donated to charity. Whatever gets the word out, we hope it helps.

This design is also available on hoodies, phone cases, and more. Like with the t-shirt, all proceeds?? will go to the Black Lives Matter Global Network.

The design was created in collaboration with Dtoid graphic designer Ashley and conceived by site founder, Niero, who added: “We wanted to create a shirt that says 'I'm not a racist piece of shit' but also 'I'm a gamer, tee-hee'.”

As many within the jbsgame.community will know, we’re a site tha??t’s proud of its user-base coming from many different backgrounds, beliefs, and nations. We hope you'll dig it and help us spread the message.

Guardians for Australia

Last Friday, we told you about Bungie's charitable initiative to sell a Destiny 2 t??-shirt and give the profits to Australia fire relief. Now, that shirt is up for sale and you have the option of chipping in a helping hand wh?ile bolstering your wardrobe.

Here's the Destiny 2 Guardians for Australia shirt:

Here's the shirt's product page. It's selling for $25, and Bungie is splitting the profits between WIRES (an Australian wildlife rescue) and NSW Rural Fire Service (which is set in New South Wales where the fires have been particularly bad). Anyone who buys it will also receive the exclusive in-game "Star Light, Star Bright" emblem.

The Guardians down under need our help.

The fireteam needs your help

Australia is in dire need of help right now as it's ravaged by bushfires that threaten both the human and animal population. Since September, an estimated 10.3 million hectares have burned, resulting in the de?aths of 27 people and the estimated deaths of approximately half a billion wild animals. There's no sign of the fires slowing down, as this weekend's primary threat in the southeastern portion of Australia is a "mega blaze"?? where two fires merged into one.

Bungie is doing its part by selling a new Destiny 2 t-shirt and sending the proceeds to Australia fire relief. Bungie says "Th??e first half of all profits generated by these t-shirt sales will be donated to WIRES, Australia's largest wildlife rescue organization. The other half will be donated t?o NSW Rural Fire Service, which services the state of New South Wales, where the fires have been especially devastating and are in dire need of cont?ainment."

The shirts aren't yet for sale. For that matter, they aren't even finished yet. Bungie plans to share the design early next week. It'll be available to buy between January 1?6 and Februar?y 18. For anyone who needs some extra incentive, the Australia relief shi??rt will come with an exclusive in-game "Star Light, Star Bright" emblem, which can be seen below.

Wear the dragon

It's still kind of surreal to me that the Yakuza series is actually popular in the West. I've been playing them for roughly one-third of my life and I never expected the series to break beyond its niche. It has truly been a wild ride and I'm happy we can now all agree that Kiryu Kazuma is a badass. Sadly, there has been a dearth of merchandise for fans to show off their love. Apart from pop-up stores in Japan, where else can you get some official Yakuza branded t-shirts?

At the online Sega Shop, apparently. If you head over to Sega's official online store, you'll be able to grab some Yakuza Kiwami 2 themed shirts and hoodies as well as a blanket and phone case. They all sport antagonist Goda Ryuji's golden dragon tattoo, which i??s totally awesome. The prices are a little bit high, but this is likely to be the only offi??cial merchandise we'll ever get.

Jellyvisionary

Jackbox Games has a great thing going with its Party Packs. It's way easier to get people ?to play a game if they already have the equipment, nearly everyone carries a smartphone around these days. I've found that it's far less intimidating to get a group together to play Jackbox games than it is to pass out complicated controllers and explain button configurations. Since all that's required is a touchscreen and?? internet access, you don't even need a smartphone to join in. At my house, we've lent people who don't have their phones a Kindle tablet or a Wii U GamePad, and they were able to play along just fine.

Ease of access is just part of the formula though, and it wouldn't mean much if the games you were trying to share with your friends weren't any good. Fortunately, The Jackbox Party Pack 3 more than delivers on the promise of quality made by its predecessors. This year's installment continues to demonstrate that no one (no, not even them) makes ??a better party game. Each of the Jackbox games vary slightly in quality and complication, but all of them are simple enough that everyone can play. More importantly, they're enough fun to keep people coming back. It's a party in a box, just like it says on the label.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

Jackbox Party Pack 3 (PC [reviewed], Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Amazon Fire TV)
Developer: Jackbox Games Inc.
Publisher: Jackbox Games Inc.
MSRP: $24.99
Released: October 18, 2016 (PS4, PC, Mac, Fire TV), October 21, 2016 (Xbox One)

Unlike previous installments in the Jackbox series, none of the games here have been available before now. Sorry to those who were waiting to grab the likes of Drawful 2 as part of a pack. That's okay though, as the games you do get in the bundle more than make up for it.

There are five games in Party Pack 3, and I'll discuss each of them in turn: Quiplash 2, Trivia Murder Party, Guesspionage, Fakin' It, and Tee K.O. There really aren't any ?clunkers in the bunch, and the group I played with enjoyed each of these games on their own merits.

The first game is also the most familiar -- Quiplash 2, an upgraded version of the breakaway hit from last year's Party Pack. The original Quiplash came into being as a Kickstarted effort, and was popular enough to make it into The Jackbox Party Pack 2 as Quiplash XL last October. Since you play remotely over the internet??, you don't necessarily need to be in the same room to join a game. This makes it a perfect fit for streamers, and I'm not ashamed to admit I've gone looking for games to join on Twitch when I can't get a group of friends together.

For those who aren't familiar with Quiplash, here's how it works: Each player is provided the setup to two ??jokes, and has 90 seconds to answer both of those prompts with the funniest line they can think of. The players who didn't answer a prompt will then vote on which answer they like best, with the winner receiving more points. If the vote is unanimous, the winner gets a Quiplash and a sizable score bonus. Up to eight people can play, and any overflow can still participate ??by voting from the audience. Audience members' votes aren't weighted as importantly as those of the participants, but they can still swing the outcome of a close matchup or provide extra points to their favorite.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

As I mentioned, Quiplash is pretty popular on Twitch, and many of the new features are intended to help make things easier for people who want to stream the games in Party Pack 3. The audience now supports up to 10,000 participants at once. You can require people who join your games to have a Twitch ID, making them slightly more accountable and slight?ly less random. You can also hide the room code that allows access to your game until all of your friends are in, preventing strangers from joining early and pushing your friends into the audience. There's a toggle that allows the first player in to censor player's answers, and perhaps most useful, you can extend the timers for streamed games to compensate for the 12 to 20 second delay Twitch viewers contend with.

Apart from the streaming features, Quiplash 2's biggest draw is the welcomed ability to create your own prompts; you can even make an entire themed epis?ode if you want. You can open up the creation process to your friends just before you play, or build the whole thing yourself before they co?me over. Either way, you can save prompts or episodes to play later. You can choose to keep the prompts secret as they're being written, or make it public to make sure that nothing is repeated. It's important to make sure that everyone understands the format before you open it up to others, or some of your custom prompts may not play very well. If everyone's on the same page though, this feature has the potential to become the best part of the game, with group in-jokes and collective memories adding serious replay value to a game that already had loads of it.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

One unavoidable downside is that the a??nnouncer (understandably) won't read your custom prompts out loud. If you have an odd number of custom prompts or run out midway through a g??ame, that's not a problem, as the built-in prompts will take over seamlessly. The ability to create your own game is a simple addition, but once you've tried it, you'll always want the option there.

I invited a large group over so that we could check out some of the audience features, and these have also been improved since Quiplash XL. Audience members now have the option to answer prompts alongside the players, though audience answers are never seen in the live game. Once a game is completed, both audience members and participants ?can click on the "Gallery"?? button to revisit every answer provided during a match. Both of these are small things, but they do help keep the audience engaged while waiting for the players to provide their answers, time they'd otherwise just be sitting idle.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

The second game is called Trivia Murder Party, and i??t's a perfect fit for all those Halloween parties that are just around the corner. This is the only game in the bunch that doesn't have a family-friendly mode, and I'd recommend not letting kids or grandma near this one, as some of the imagery is disturbing. That being said, it's clear that this is what the development team spent the most time with, and ??of the four brand new games, this is the one my group enjoyed playing the most.

Trivia Murder Party is what might happen if the You Don't Know Jack host became obsessed with the Saw movies and set up a torture dungeon in his basement. You play as cute little Sackboy-esque voodoo dolls, and the goal of this one is to escape a haunted house by answering a serial killer's trivia challenges and performing mini-games better than the other contestants. The trivia questions are considerably tougher than you might find on a YDKJ episode, and for ever?y one you answer wrong, you're ??pitted against the other players who goofed up in various challenges. If you're the only player who answered incorrectly, you might have to "cut off a finger," meaning one of the four choices to answer a question will be inaccessible to you for the rest of the game.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

If multiple living players answer incorrectly, they'll have to participate in a variety of mini-games, from seeing who can answer simple math questions fastest to drawing something intangible like "the future" or "moral ambiguity," and waiting for the other players to vote for their least favorite. There's a great variety of these, and some bring to mind the classic prisoner's dilemma or the Holy Grail sequence in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The loser(s) of these challenges are destroyed rather gruesomely, continuing to play as gh??osts.

Ghost players are treated a little differently than those who haven't been murdered yet. If all living players answer a question correctly, no mini-game is triggered, even if ghosts answer the qu??estion wrong. Ghosts can vote on some of the challenges that living players are thrown into, and are still allowed to answer trivia and earn cash for every correct answer. As the announcer/murderer tells you, though, "Don't get too obsessed with the scores, it's mostly about the killing."

Play continues until only one ??player is left alive. At the end of ten ??rounds or whenever only one player is still in possession of a corporeal form, it's time for the final escape sequence. If the last two living players die at the same time, one is chosen based on their score to lead the escape. During the final round, each player is asked the same questions, and moves closer to the exit for each correct multiple-choice answer. However, the living player is at a distinct disadvantage. Multiple answers can be correct, and while the living player has two options to choose from, each of the ghost players has three.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

If a ghost manages to catch up to the living player during the?? escape sequence, they'll steal the body. This makes it possible for a dead player to steal the victory, but they'll have the same disadvantage if there's still space and questions to answer between them and the door. This leads to some ?great back and forth jockeying for position at the end of a match, and my group all particularly enjoyed how intense this final round felt.

We did have a couple of minor issues with this mode, mostly ??relating to the audio. The announcer/murderer uses a voice deepening vocoder to hide his identity, and the instructions he gives can be difficult to understand if there's any background noise or side conversations. (At one point during our session, the vocoder stopped working, revealing the killer's identity in a well-done audio joke.) Similarly, the audio levels seemed inconsistent, with the jarring noise used to indicate that a player has selected an answer being much louder than the announcer's instructions. This didn't take anything away from the experience though, and I think my group will be returning to this mode for years ??to come.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

Guesspionage, the third game in the bundle, is the one we spent the least time with. That's not to say it's bad, but we did enjoy the other offerings more. Guesspionage plays a bit like Family Feud, in that all of the questions are based on surveys conducted by Jackbox Games. Each player chooses an agent as their avatar, then takes a turn a?nswering?? what percentage of the population surveyed answered a binary question using a sliding percentage scale. When they're done, the rest of the players and the audience decide whether they think the first player was too high or too low.

Points are awarded based on how close the primary player was to the correct percentage, and those who are second-guessing the primary get points only if t??????????????????????????hey correctly guess whether the percentage should be higher or lower. If the primary player gets the percentage exactly right, they get all the points for that round and the second-guessers get nothing.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

Play continues like this until every player has chosen at least one percentage. In large games, if they think the primary player was way off (by 15 percent or more), they can indicate as much on their device. If they're right, their points are doubled for that question, but if they'r??e wrong they get nothing. In smaller games, this feature is disabled until the second roun?d of play.

The ?final round shows a grid of nine?? answers, and each player is given three guesses to determine which of these was the most popular to the question provided. More points are given for selecting the most popular answers.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

As previously mentioned, my group enjoyed this game, but it's easily the one we spent the least time with. Some of the surveillance jokes fell a little flat, and the back?grounds and graphics were a sometimes distracting and unrelated to the topic (a man loading clothes into a dryer, or someo??ne pulling toilet paper off a roll, for example). The game itself is fun and well-made, but I can't help but feel that more attention was given to the other games in the pack.

The next game is called Fakin' It, and it's the one that'll probably need the most explanation. It's basically a technology-enhanced, streamlined version of Werewolf, with one player designated as the Faker, and the other players trying to identify and catch the Faker before three rounds have passed. Unli?ke the other games in the pack, this one only supports up to six players at a time, down from eight.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

Fakin' It is probably the game that will get the least amount of love on streams, but that's because it pretty much requires all of the players to be in the same room with one another. Players are asked to raise their hands, point at one another, make faces, hold up a certain number of fingers, and other physical activities to indica?te the answers to questions sent to their device. Every player but the Faker receives the same question, and the Faker is just told to blend in as best they can.

This is a great example of how much fun asymmetric gameplay can be, and Fakin' It is one of the best use cases for Jackbox Games' phone-as-a-controller technology. You have to keep up a steady poker face?? if your phone tells you that you're the Faker, and it's hilarious trying to interpret your friends' actions to determine if they're the chosen one. This game plays best in small groups of four to six; three seems like too few, though the game compensates by removing one round to assist the Faker. It also helps if all the players know each other fairly well, so you can pick up on unspoken dialogue and facial expressions. We brought a new player into our group, and since he didn't know anyone, he was at a huge disadvantage trying to figure out? who was fibbing.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

At the end of a round, all players are asked to vote for who they think the Faker is. If they vote unanimously and correctly, the Faker is caught and play moves on to the next round. Audience members can vote too, but their votes aren't counte?d. The percentage of audience members who correctly identified the Faker is shown on-screen though, so it can help the players determine which of them is faking. Communication between players is encouraged, thou?gh it might have been nice to have just a little more time between rounds to discuss what had been learned from the previous question. If the Faker manages to evade capture for three rounds, they escape. Points are awarded based on how long the Faker avoided capture, and whether anyone voted for them while they were lying.

The final round changes up the rules, and each player is given a couple o??f questions to write down the answers to. This is very well done, as the Faker's questions are related to the rest of the groups, but probably won't match up exactly. For example, during one round the main group was asked to write something good about themselves, while the Faker was told to write down something they look for in a mate. Writing "Looks" or "Personality" would allow you to blend in, but typing "Giant knockers" would get you caught in a hurry.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

Fakin' It has the highest learning curve of all the games in Party Pack 3, but it has the potential to be the most rewarding. My group liked the retro-sixties, Spy vs. Spy aesthetic of this activity, and this is the only game in the bunch that's hosted by fan favorite Cookie Masterson (Tom Gottlieb). The tutorial recommends using real names and sitting in a semicircle around the TV so that everyone can see anyone else, and my group ignored this advice at our peril. Our first game didn't go very well, and the people I played with agreed that a practice round before the game started would have been appreciated. Once we had the hang of it though, Fakin' It turned out to be a lot of fun.

The final game in the pack is Tee K.O., and it's the artistic game in the bundle, the spiritual successor to Drawful and Bidiots from earlier Jackbox Party Packs. In this game, players are encouraged to create pictures and slogans that will be combined to create a t-shirt, and the rest of the players vote on which design they like best. While drawing on your phone is never easy, Tee K.O. removes some of the frustration by allowing you to undo a mistake and? choose between several colors to create your masterpiece, so it's much more forgiving than those prior games.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

In the first section, each player must draw two pictures of anything they like within 90 seconds. The second section encourages them to write as many slogans or phra??ses as they can. The third section shuffles these slogans and drawings so that everyone gets a few that they didn't make themselves. At that point, they'll need to choose the picture and phrase that they think will make the best, funniest t-shirt design. Everyone will get three pictures to choose from, and depending on how many slogans your fellow players created, you'll get three or more to match up with these drawings.

Each t-sh?irt is matched up against someone else's design in a head-to-head battle, and both players and audience members can vote on which design they like best. Unlike some of the other games in the pack, audience member votes carry equal weight, so your design might be the favorite in the room and still lose the battle. The winner of a round faces the next?? design until all the T-shirts have been displayed, and there are bonuses if your shirt survives for several rounds or comes out as the winner in this head-to-head section.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

The aesthetics in this game are worth mentioning; everything is vivid and colorful, and my group noticed that the backgrounds made even the crappiest line drawings on the shirts look like works of art. There are cute mascots for every player, and the announcer's British accent means he says "drawrings" fairly frequently. If a shirt design gets 100 percent of the vote, a deep voice will announce "SHIRTALITY!" in a nod to the Mortal Kombat series, befo??re the losing shirt is burned and crumbles into ash.

After the first head-to-head section is complete, each player creates one more drawing and adds as many slogans as they can think of, then there's another round of t-shirt creat?ion and battle. Any pictures or slogans that weren't used in the first round are added to the pool for the second,?? so players may have a few more slogan options in the second round.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 review

As you might imagine, there can be a long time between rounds as everyone is finalizing thei?r drawings and selecting the wittiest slogans to match them. There's a toggle that allows audience members to submit suggestions which will appear on the main screen, though they can't draw or submit slogan ideas unless they're actually playing. Unfortunately, I didn?'t find this toggle until after we had shed players and didn't have an audience, so our audience was stuck doing nothing for long sections while others were working on their shirts.

We did n?otice that the la??ter a design appeared in the battle phase, the more likely it was to win the tournament. A repeated joke is only funny a few times, so the novelty a new shirt has gives it the advantage in the battle sections.

Tee K.O. has some additi??onal features included that are pretty neat. After a game is completed, you can check out a gallery of all the designs created. You can tweet a design if you like, and you also have the option to custom-print and order a shirt created using the game's interface. Transactions are handled through Paypal; it costs $16 with free shipping in the US, and there are a variety of men's and women's sizes available. I can't see myself ordering shirts this way, but it's really cool that they made it an option. My friends and I did have some trouble going through the ordering process, but t??hat may be because the game hadn't officially released yet.

There were a few other technical glitches with Tee K.O. as well. Near the end of the first section, two of the announcer's audio tracks triggered at the same time. This happened in every game we played, so there's probably an errant line of code causing the overlap. We weren't able to access the gallery consistently either, with some players getting stuck on a loading screen until they gave up. So?me players had difficulty choosing slogans based on where the buttons showed up on their device, and at one point I got locked out of the shirt creation process and had to forfeit that round. While annoying, none of this was game-breaking, and we all had a blast pitting our tees against one another.

So, let's sum up. Quiplash 2's new prompt creation gives it near infinite replayability, though your experience will vary based on who you're playing with. Trivia Murder Party is a bloody, comic horror take on You Don't Know Jack, and it might just be my favorite of the bunch. Guesspionage is a perfectly fine game, but doesn't reach the heights of some of the others in the pack. Fakin' It works best with a slightly smaller group, and is loads of fun if you can get a group of old friends together. Finally, Tee K.O. combines artwork and silly phrases well, though it may bor??e your audience in between battle sections.

There's a lot of value here for the price, and even if you could buy each of these games separately for five bucks apiece, I'd still recommend picking up all of them. You'll need to invite at least three friends over to get the most out of these games, but if you have the means and the opportunity, you'll get way more than your money's worth out of The Jackbox Party Pack 3.

Show your naked crying boy pride

These Binding of Isaac shirts from theyetee.com combine the terror of Isaac with nostalgic love for Zelda, creating something that is making me reconsider my “no game t-shit” policy. The three new shirts include a re-imagining of some Zelda art, a par??ody of the classic “it's dangerous to go alone” scene, and a much less inspired g??eneric spooky skull, if you just want to look like you're really into death metal or something.

I'm still playing Rebirth months after giving it an extremely positive review, getting down to the hardest challenges and most obscure items. It's left me a husk of a man. Maybe some cool t-shirts will help me fill the void in my heart while I wait for Afterbirth to come out and gi??ve me some new?? items and bosses to enjoy and obsess over.

The t-shirt, not so much

Club Nintendo has more physical rewards available: two 3DS game cases sporting some cool (and varied!) artwork, and an NES Remix 2 t-shirt featuring Samus in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Just slide those Coins over her?e,?? nice and easy. Thhhhat's it. No one has to die today.

You know I love these Pikmin designs.

These are great too!

The t-shirt is a bit much.

Pick up this Destiny shirt for charity

Commemorate your time with the Destiny Alpha release this year by picking up the tongue-in-cheek Wizard shirt from the official Bungie store. Then, don't sit around hating your?self for all the money you've spent this week what with the Steam Summer Sale and all, because the profits from this T-shirt go to charity via the Bungie Foundation.

I've been fighting with myself over whether or not I want this shirt, because promotions for charity like this always get me. Remember the "Save Carmine" shirts from back in the day? I bought one of those, too. It's buried in my closet somewhere. I kind of want this one as well, especially since it makes me chuckle. How 'bout you? Will you be picking one up while getting prepared for Destiny's impending release?

Edit: Source??. Peter Dinklage sounds bored out of his mi??nd.

Wow, I really don't like the American offerings any more at all now

Just look at this awesome shirt that members of the Japanese Club Nintendo are getting. Meanwhile, I'm stuck wishing I had enough coins for the things I wanted. It's available today for those lucky enough to live in Japan for 600 poins, but it's available for 500 if you happen to register Mario Kart 8. Just look how stylish it is. Stylin' and profilin'. I'm ??jealous.

Oh, and I don't recommend moseying off to go loo??k at the other Club Nintendo rewards on the Japanese site. You're just going to make yourself sad.

The glow-in-the-dark ink is fancy

Keita Takahashi (creator of Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy) and Venus Patrol have launched the second shirt in the Videogame Romantics line, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I dug the first shirt with its varying gradients and adorable cursive font, but this one is adorable in a compl?etely different?? way.

You can pick up the latest shir?t in a nice subdued grey or the midnight navy version with glow-in-the-dark ink. Personally, I'm more partial to the midnight navy shirt, because ??it's darker and the print stands out more.

Purchase either shirt (and the previous design) here for $25 apiece. My birthday is M??ay 18, just so y?ou know.

Fire Emblem and more to hit online store soon

Okay, I think I bought a girl's shirt. Cruising the floor at Anime Expo today, I saw and had to have this shirt featuring Gato from Chrono Trigger, but with the purple backing and pink font, I'm not sure it's meant for me. I'll wear it anyway, but I was also impressed with some of the other designs at Sanshee, including the new Fire Emblem one that debuted at the show.

We've got photos of the ?aforementioned Gato shirt, some other new designs that debuted at Anime Expo, and also of Sanshee's booth below.

W??ould you wear a purple and pink Gato shirt? I know?? I'm going to.

Limited edition shirt determined by your votes

[Update: Voting ends on this?? soon, so get your votes in! ??Tell your friends!]

Teenage Pokemon is doing OK. The five current episodes are at 1.6+ million combined views, with the most-watched episode Console Wars sitting at 515K+ views. That's afte?r being out there for about a month. I am not?? sad about that.

The art is the show's major draw. In fact, our recent gallery post showing off art from the show had quite a few people asking me to put together a Teenage Pokemon art book. Nothing would make me happi?er, but book publishing is not a thing that I know how to do. I'm also not to sure Nintendo would? be too keen on that idea.

One thing we can do is put out a limted-edition Teenage Pokemon t-shirts. We've got a few?????????????????????????? variations on a group shot featuring art from Lindsay Collins, two designs based on Bidoofshock Infinite and a "Poke-splayers" by Sarah Thomas, several designs by Micheal Jordan based on S??arah and Lindsay's artwork, a Poke-heart design by Ben Mangum, and one special design that called "We keep it real."

Vote for the art you want the most and we'll do our best to put out a limited ??edition t-shirt based on the winner. These designs aren't 100% final and are subject to change, but we'll do out best to make you proud. So go vote!

Everyone's doing it, so why not Fangamer? I've been a long time fan of their game-inspired shirt designs, and it seems they've heard the voice of costumers out there who have been frustrated with so many of their popular designs being out of print. They've initiated a Kickstarter campaign to remedy the situation, with funds being used to reprint several designs as we??ll as new ones exclusive to the campaign.

While you'll be paying full price for the shirts ($22??) at the lowest levels of support, pledging $80 will net you four shirts with a $2 discount on each. The hoodies are also available for $45 as opposed to their usual $47+ asking price. And shipping is included. A pretty good deal if you've had your eyes on these designs.

I'm particularly fond of the Chronometer and Space Jump shirts and the Dark Omen hoodie (all seen below), and the promotional video above is quite entertaining. Which designs strike your fancy, and with all the Kickstarter fatigue going around these days, is this a pretty good way ?to go about usi??ng the funding tool?

There's a lot to see and do here on the San Diego Comic-Con show floor, but nestled away in a tiny booth in the middle of the massive convention center was Meat Bun's boo??th with several interesting shirt designs on display.

I was immediately drawn to an Outrun-inspired shirt referencing one of my favorite pieces of music from its soundtrack titled "Passing Breeze" (available in both white and yellow), as well as the tantalizing design above featuring a woman covered by a variety of gooey creatures from across the world of gaming. I see everything from a Dragon Quest slime and babble to a Final Fantasy flan and an adorable poring from Ragnarok Online. Can you name them all?

If you can't be here at Comic Con to pick up a shirt for yourself, you can also visit them online where they have several of the designs ?available here at Comic Con as well as many others. And don't fret if you don't see the shirt you want as many of these were reprinted just for Comic-Con and will be available via the online store again ver??y soon. Which is your favorite?

If you ever need a reminder of the importance of the 80s in videogame history, just take a look at any one of the numerous major franchises that have been celebrating their 25th anniversaries lately. Now it's Metal Gear's turn at the plate.

In April, Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo will be selling 14 different T-shirt designs based on most every entry of the venerable series, from all the way back to the MSX2 days through this year's Metal Gear Rising. As posted on Hideo Kojima's Twitter, the shirts vary from basic to snazzy. I kinda think my favorite one is the black number with the tiny parachuting Snake sprite on the front corner and the crawling Snake on the back. I dunno, it's just so simple.

Hopefully, the shirts will be available at the New York Uniqlo stores as well as online, but unfortunately the Revengeance shirt will be exclusive to the Ginza distr?ict i?n Tokyo.

I haven't finished my Christmas shopping yet. That wou??ldn't be a problem if I still did the brick-and-mortar thing, but I've gone completely digital??. Thus, I am at the mercy of the combined forces of the United States Postal Service and FedEx. I don't always emerge victorious.

The rest of you bums might want to hit up Fangamer and check out some the new stuff they've got available. The big item of the moment is Version 2 of the Mother 3 Handbook, the companion literature to that one game of which people totally bought a physical copy and didn't just download a ROM and install a translation patch. I scored m?yself a copy ?of this when I went to PAX East last year, but this new edition sports new illustrations and is available in hardcover.

Then there are some pimpin' shirts like the Zelda-inspired "Mysticeti" and "Fabled Blade," the FFVI-inspired "Runic Nouveau," and the SNES-themed "Gaming Loop." There are also restocks of items like the E-Mug, the stress-tested Mega Man coffee commander. Check 'em out and see if you can cross a few undes??erving names off your shopping list.

A lot of times, girls don't have the opportunity to buy licensed t-shirts in their own sizes, having to make do with guys' sizes. Luckily for them, this Techno Kitten Adventure shirt is available only in girls' sizes. You can now buy them in t-s?hirt or tank top varieties and show your love for an iOS and Xbox Live Indie Ga?me that is like having sex with a unicorn.

Sadly for us guys, there is no corresponding male t-shirt adorned with kittens and rainbows and stars, and I have no idea why. People buy shirts with Nyan Cat on them, I don't know why they think guys wouldn't sn??ap this one up.

While geek chic has become ever more popular and more and more of us fly our geek flag with pride, it is never surprising to see the increase of outlets that have caught onto this by producing ranges of geek-inspired clothing. Insert Coin is just one of those companies, and to my delight, this Brit-based team of gamers produce some amazing designs and quality t-shirts that I have adm????????????????????????????ittedly fallen in love with.

I interviewed Dan Long, Head of Communications, and Jon Rhodes, Creative Director, as we talk inspiration, designing, the importance of knowing your cotton count and what we can expect to see in the future. Don't forget you can follow Insert Coin on TwitterFacebook or go straight to their website to check out their stuff -- th??ey don't charge for shipping, even worldwide!

So let us start with the basics, who or what is Insert Coin clothing?

DL: What i??s Insert Coin? That's a difficult question! I guess it is j??ust a group of people who love gaming, love tees and love bringing the geek out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Or we're a tee company making sweet gaming designs that people like wearing. One of the two, ha ha!

JR: As to who we are, well, there are about five of us now, but it started out with just me and Dan -- we worked together before. And while we're still the people who drive things forward, we'v??e brought other people onboard to keep everything tight and focused.

DL: We've got really varied backgrounds -- design, writing, fashion, stagecraft. I used to design and build planes -- so it's a bit of a mad mix of skills and that's something unique to Insert Coin I think.
What prompted you guys to even get started? There were already places out there selling gaming-based clothing, what really pushed you to think? 'hey, we can do this too'?

JR: To be honest, it was because of what was out there already. I was looking for some new?? tees, thought I'd get something gaming-inspired and I was just really dis??appointed.

DL: We used to chat all the time about games and tees and so gaming tees would always come up as a topic -- and in particular the lack of decent ones. I remember the day Jon brought one in ... it was
terrible. The tee was thin and wispy, the design was badly printed -- we knew that couldn't be the best
anyone could do. We knew we could do better and give gamers tees that wouldn't fall apart and that'd
look damn cool too.

JR: It really was a wake up call. We knew we had the skills and the resources to do this and
so Ins??ert Coin was really borne out of the crushing disappointment of those first tees we bought.

As we know you have started Insert Coin as a completely new business enterprise, what was that hardest thing you had to overcome?

JR: I think that whenever you start up a business, it's hard. If anyone thinks 'ohh, they just make tees --
it's easy' then that's really only the tip of the iceberg. There's so much to ?consider, so much?? to do and you have to work at it with everything you've got to make it a reality.

DL: A?nd then work even ha??rder to make it a success. We've put a lot of effort in because we know that this isn't the best time to start any kind of new business. But we've been overwhelmed with the response we've had.

JR: This is so true. Pe?ople forget -- or don't even realise -- that we're not even a year old yet. In that time we've come a long, long way and while it's been to??ugh at times, it's been so much fun too.

DL: The hardest thing I think is explaining what we do. At first, the idea was difficult to pitch to people -- making gaming tees that didn't have a huge picture of the main character on the front -- but now it has all fallen into place. Pe??ople already know the great work that Dark Bunny and Last Exit do in the world of films, so now they know that if they want gaming t??ees with the same kind of subtle, stylish sensibilities, they come to Insert Coin.

Who does your designs? Do you think of them yourselves or do you look out onto the internet for some creative talent?

DL: Everything we do is in-house and, when it comes ??to the designs, then it comes down to Jon -- as our creative direc?tor -- to make them a reality.

JR: But the original ideas and concepts are very much a team effort -- we all pitch in and work around designs that we?? like and that we think other people will like too.

DL: I think if you liv??e and breathe games you notice these little design flourishes that are lovingly put into titles and they inspire our designs and guide our creative process.

JR: We do get loads of external ideas and e??ncouragement too though. Our fans and followers are really great and they're always giving us suggestions -- it must be at least two or three a day we?? receive. They help us shape what games to look at next and what sort of style designs people are interested in. And of course, we ran a competition with another gaming website forum to develop one of the ideas for our spring range -- so that's one of our fan's ideas directly inspiring a finished design!

What has the reception been like from the fans? We all know how people on the Internet can be when it comes to sharing their opinions.

JR: We've been really surpr??ised -- they've been overwhelmingly positive!

DL: It's been lovely really, we seem to have really tapped into a great community and they're always positive and constructive with criticism and even when you do get random 'less good??' feedback, it's normally good to help steer the company in the right direction.

JR: The only 'bad' things people say are things like 'why haven't you done this design yet' or 'more tees inspired by this game' ... it's just so difficult because there are so many great ideas and so many tees we? want to do, we just can't do them all at once! We wish we could ... but it'd probably be impossible to search our site for what you wanted, ha ha!

DL: Sometimes people question the pri?ce point of our tees and hoodies too ... whic??h we kinda understand, but they're actually much cheaper than most other geek or gaming tees, particularly when you consider they're made from scratch and not just standard 'off the peg' items. We also offer free delivery anywhere in the world. No one else does that and so it makes our tees cheaper overall ... and take that from someone who's bought tees online from all around the world -- from Japan to Brazil!

JR: But overall, yeah, we've been really, really pleased with the response. Quite touched really ... we get some gre??at emails sent in about how much people love what we do and that's what it's all about.

Personally, what has been your favourite design and why?

DL: It's difficult because it's always changing! I do love 'Calbers' t??hough as it is just so beautifully oblique and obscure and Jon's done a great bit of treatment on the ??initial idea.

JR: I always gravitate towards the black tees ... I think 'Klobb' is getting the most ch??est-time at the moment!

DL: Oh?? yeah, Klobb on a hoodie awesome ... simple but those gamers who see it instantly get it!

Have you ever been in trouble because of your designs?

JR: We haven't really had a lot of problem with our designs to be honest. In fact, we've had a?? great support from inside the industry -- Naughty Dog, Sega, Xbox, EA, LucasArts, Capcom, Blizzard and more each day. We offer a very simple?? approach to it all though and are quite transparent that the majority of our designs are inspired by our favourite games. We're more than happy to work with any games companies! We've already got some deals in the pipeline that are very, very special indeed.

DL: The big piece of news that we CAN tell you is ??that we were asked by Sega to produce two celebration tees for Sonic's 20th birthday. They're still under wraps at the moment as they're with our friends in Japan, but they are scheduled to go live i??n about six weeks.

JR: Sonic is a huge part of all our gaming lives and so it's a hu??ge honour to be involved with this kind of celebration ... it's going to be really cool!

Now, not that you want lots of competition to start springing up but what would you say to someone out there who wanted to started their own business or someone who wanted to start promoting their designs?

DL: Well, we're still learning all the time too, so this is only what we know so far -- ha ha! First of all, good luck! Second of all, be prepared for long hours, sleepless nights, an unbearable?? knowledge about cotton weights and the m?ost fun you could ever imagine.

JR: You need to do your res??earch. That's the key. You need to know every aspect inside out and you need to work bloody hard to make it wo??rk.

DL: And you need to keep at it -- determinati??o??n goes a long way!
