Tiny Glade has been a phenomenon in the cozy gaming sphere. After the demo was released as part of Steam Next Fest back in June, developers PounceLight were overwhelmed as they reached a staggering one million wishlists.

The cozy building game got its full release on September 23, and players have been sharing some incredible builds in the time since??. As an avid player myself, I’ve had the joy of seeing builds inspired by the daily theme, as well as other, more extravagant or technically challenging designs.

I’d consider myself very much a part of the Tiny Glade community, and while I can’t show off my own builds here (they’ve got nothing on the designs you’re about to see, anyway), I can show you 10 of the best builds I’ve seen since Tiny Glade was releas?ed. You might even recognize some of them.

Spirited Away bathhouse

The bathhouse from Spirited Away recreated in Tiny Glade by Stan616_
Image via @Stan616_/Twitter

Let’s kick things off with this incredible rendition of the bathhouse from Spirited Away, made by Stan616_. Every layer seen on this beautiful replication is an individual building block, and the co??lors and design are so spot on to the source material. The use of windows to cause a sense of size is inspired, and I can imagine the spirits wandering i?n and out of the doors.

Laputa from Castle in the Sky

Recreation of Laputa in Tiny Glade by Thelkana
Image via @thelkana/Twitter

Sticking with the Studio Ghibli theme, as there are a lot of truly incredible Ghibli-esque builds floating around, this rendition of Laputa is truly mind boggling. I’d like to point out how difficult it is to create floating platforms in Tiny Glade, with even the smallest m??ovement of a platform causing stilts to pop out of the bottom. The fact that Thelkana managed to create such an intricately layered platform is testament to their ?in-game design skills.

Castle town with train tracks

A castle town complete with train tracks, built in Tiny Glade by ITASHAKAI
Image via @ITASHAKAI/Twitter

As far as I can tell, this build takes inspiration from nothing except the mind of its creator, and it’s truly beautiful. Pay attention to the train tracks in the bottom left, which are very difficult to create and are a true display of out-of-the-box thinking. The towering Japanese style temple to the right i??s also impressive, with each layer consisting of far more pieces than they first appear to be.

Port Merrick

Port Merrick rebuilt in Tiny Glade by CaptRosySot
Image via @CaptRosySot/Twitter

I’ve seen a few different recreations of Sea of Thieves/em> Port Merrick, but this one definitely stands out as the best of them. Despite the limitations of Tiny Glade, this depiction is true to the source material and the flags are perfectly placed. Although there are no people in Tiny Glade, I can imagine pirates sauntering around this build with very little effort.??

Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom

The Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom made in Tiny Glade by Scribblecloud
Image via @Scribblecloud/Twitter

I’d like to preface this entry by pointing out that Tiny Glade is absolutely not designed for the construction of interior spaces. It’s meant for building buildings, not decorating the individual rooms. With that in mind, this recreation of the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom from Harry Potter becomes even more impressive. Each of the tables is actually a series of perfectly sized gates, but the floor is also made of those same gates. This build is a technical m??arvel, and it never fails to impress me.

Flying Ship

Flying ship made in Tiny Glade by Noxlotl
Image via @noxlotl/Twitter

I mentioned before that floating platforms are incredibly difficult to achieve in Tiny Glade, but noxlotl has absolutely perfected the art of making them. They have created hot air balloons, pirate ships, and a long list of other technically brilliant builds, but this is my favorite of all their creations. With roofs as? sails, countless blocks used to c??reate the ship itself, and a flag-line anchor, this ship is truly inspirational.

Train crossing from Howl’s Moving Castle

The train crossing from Howl's Moving Castle faithfully remade in Tiny Glade by Berry Shortcake
Image via @Berryshrtcake/Twitter

Although it lacks the black smoke that can be seen in the Ghibli movie, this faithful recreation of the train crossing from Howl’s Moving Castle by Berry Shortcake is a marvel. Why? Because not only have they managed to ca??pture the?? feeling of the town around the tracks, but they’ve also built a train, which is one hell of an achievement in itself. The angle of this image is spot on, as well, which adds to the magic.

The Wizard’s Tower from Stardew Valley

The Wizard's Tower from Stardew Valley remade in Tiny Glade by Jessicat
Image via @QyurryusPanda/Twitter

Most of the builds I’ve included on this list have been extravagant and technically challenging, so this one may stand out due to its simplicity. However, what stands out about this Wizard’s Tower by Jessicat is how utterly recognizable it is. You don’t need to be told what inspired this to tell where it came? from, and it’s so true to the source that it stands out from the crowd without being overly complicated.

Town with a crosswalk and traffic lights

A modern town with modern features made in Tiny Glade by May_orangeto
Image via @May_orangeto/Twitter

Tiny Glade isn’t designed to build modern settings. All of the building styles are very traditional, almost bordering on medieval, and that makes modern style builds very challenging. This builder took this challenge and completely flipped it on itself, designing this very modern town complete with not only a crosswalk (made using differently colored walls that are barely? visible), but also traffic lights. There’s even a car i??n the back, which is staggering on its own.

Dolorian Church of Humanity in Martinaise from Disco Elysium

The Church of Humanity in Martinaise remade in Tiny Glade by c_peterson
Image via @c_peterson/Twitter

Despite being a small build, this recreation of the Dolorian Church of Humanity in Martinaise is something that brought something to the attention of a lot of players. The use of small windows and? arrow slits on the back wall to recreate the stained glass design is absolutely inspired, and although it may not be perfect, the beauty of this build lays in the creativity used to create it.

As promised a little while ago, Tiny Glade is? finally out on Steam, and boy howdy is it a doozy. This beautiful little diorama-focused city-building game does away with management, combat, and objectives altogether. Regardless, its Overwhelmingly Positive review status on Steam promises something truly special and unique.

This isn't the first time we're seeing Tiny Glade in action, of course. Just a few months back, Paula found herself absolutely loving her time with the Tiny Glade demo available over on Steam (and it's still around, if you want to check it out). Now, with Tiny Glade out and about in its 1.0 build as of September 23, we can verify that its charm isn't a one-trick pony. In fact, early adopters are so happy with this game that it's already enjoying an awesome Overwhelmingly Positive review ra??ting, with 96% of reviewers ??loving it.

Tiny Glade is enjoying 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews on day one

Tiny Glade's acclaim isn't just a passing fad, either. On Steam alone, the game has already been reviewed over 1,700 times. Contextualize this with the information that 96% of these reviews are positive, and I reckon the picture of just how good Tiny Glade is should be crystalizing by now.

And, honestly, I can see where the joy is coming from. Tiny Glade isn't about the challenges of managing a troupe of survivors in an i??cy hellscape. It's not a game where you plan and execute heists. Heck, it doesn't even have a visually pleasing gimmick to its name. Tiny Glade has oodles of? charm, however, and its deliberate choice to focus on pure customization and free-form city-building is paying off with dividends.

When even the simplest modern game wants to task you with saving the world or doing something ridiculously grandiose and dangerous, it's a lovely change of pace to play something way, way simpler and humbler than that. Tiny Glade reminds me of the awesome Dorfromantik, in fact. It's one of those games you can just pick up and play and, heck, even if you're not doing all that well, the game still pre?sents you with something pleasing and enjoyable.

Tiny Glade can be found on Steam for the very agreeable price of 14,79â‚? though note that there's currently a 15% launch discount still running, so you can save a few Euro if you're quick about it. Though there's no official support for the Steam Deck available at this time, the game is playable on the de?vice and runs reasonably well. So, if you wanna kick back on the couch and rest your brain, you can do exactly that.

The Tiny Glade demo was released in May 2024 as part of Steam’s Next Fest and took the cozy gaming world by storm, reaching a million wishlists on Steam. At the time, Oda Tilset and? Martin Kvale, the duo behind NokNok Audio, were giving daily prompts on Twitter.

//twitter.com/PounceLight/status/1802376543638786354

These prompts went down a storm and not only brought the community together in appreciation of each other's tiny builds but sparked conversation on both Twitter and in the game’s official Discord server.

I’ve made no secret of how much I adore Tiny Glade. I ended up pouring over 20 hours into the demo, and I'm eagerly (and impatiently) waiting for the full release on September 23, so it goes without saying that I was one of the people sharing my own tiny builds in response to the daily prompts, among many others who did the same.

//twitter.com/paulavaynshteyn/status/1802034166021636559

In the latest development diary from PounceLight, it was revealed that these daily prompts went down so well that they’re implementing them into Tiny Glade itself, and a unique prompt will appear on the main menu of the game eac????h day. There are currently 30 prompts prepared to cover the first month after launch, so there will be a new challenge every single day.

That’s not?? all that was revealed in the development diary, though. Also noted were more features that players have to look forward to when they get to dive in on September 23, including:

  • Water effects which are unique to individual seasons
  • Camera filters, including one that can turn any tiny build into a gorgeous painting

I can’t wait for Tiny Glade to release so that I can fully appreciate all of the hard work put in by Ana and Tom, the duo behind PounceLight, and Oda and Martin. So far, all contact I’ve had with them proves how much they love their work, and it shows in Tiny Glade, wi??th love and passion pouri?ng out of every build.

Pounce Light has announced that its free-form scene creator, Tiny Glade, now has a release date. It’s hitting PC on September 14, 2024.

Tiny Glade (I keep writing “Grove is a cozy game where you construct little buildings using an impressively intuitive editor. There’s no judgement (no “wrong answersas the developer says), so the goal is to simply create scenes that please you. Maybe pe??t the sheep while you’r??e at it.

//youtu.be/CdWpq2efN8Y?feature=shared

The unique hook here is? its editor. It’s not grid-based, and features that you place adapt to being morphed. The struc??ture adapts to objects placed, such as windows, so it’s all about plopping and dragging. It’s a game that really sells itself because even watching the trailer and the gifs on the store page is satisfying.

I’m someone whose mind has been polluted enough by modernity that I feel the need to have some sort of progression, and it doesn’t look like Tiny Glade has that, but the creation kit alone has me wanting to play it. Considering the fact that poor life choices have practically ensured that I will never own a home of my o??wn, the idea of being able to easily create one from my imagination is appealing.

Tiny Glade had an impressive demo this past May’s Steam Next Fest. Paula Vaynshteyn gave it a look and came away with a craving for more.

We won’t have to wait long, as Tiny Glade launches on PC September 14, 2024.

Tiny Glade has taken the co?zy corner of the internet by storm since the release of its demo on May 30, with players sharing their builds and figuring out all of the tiny details over on Twitter and the game's official Discord server.

Today, though, marks a huge milestone for the two-person development team Pouncelight Tiny Glade is now on over one million wishlists on Steam, and it comes as no surprise. So what’s next for Ana and Tom, the minds behind Tiny Glade?

//twitter.com/PounceLight/status/1802376539884962019

Well, not least of all they’re hoping to clean their kitchen, and honestly I know the feeling. However, top priority is a break after the chaos they’ve faced since releasing the Tiny Glade demo. With nearly constant demo patches, they’ve definitely been ??busy making sure that everything runs smoothly.

Tiny Glade Steam demo extended one week

Most importantly, they’ve decided to extend how long the demo will be live, giving players another week to dive in and start building their own tiny worlds. You now have until June 23 to download Tiny Glade on Steam and experience the joy that so many already have, and continu?e to on a daily basis.

Sadly, the daily prompts provided by the Nok Nok audio pair Oda and Martin will be coming to an end. These prompts have proved hugely inspirational, allowing players to really test their building skills and come up with some gorg??eous tiny builds.

Over the last week, we’ve had the following pro??mpts:

The final of these prompts is perhaps the best yet. Players have been tasked with building a Tiny Tavern, with Oda and Martin citing the need for somewhere to ??gather and celebrate all of the excellent demos experienced during Steam Next Fest.

I first heard about Tiny Glade way back in 2022 and now that I’ve been able to experience the joy of playing it, I’m even more excited for the game to release fully later in 2024. I can’t wait to see how far Tiny Glade will go.

It’s safe to say that there are a lot of games included as part of Steam’s ??Next Fest, but I’ve scrolled through all?? of them (yes, all of them, it took me a very long time) and downloaded all of the coziest games I could find.

Some of these games offer pure cozy vibes, while others may be better described as cozy-adjacent. Theyâ€?™re not all life-sims, but they all offer something unique and provided me with positive vibes while I play?ed. Here’s the ten that came out on top in my playtesting.

Garden Witch Life

Character in Garden Witch Life

For at least 15 years now, I’ve had a hankering for a game which gave me the same satisfaction as Cooking Mama. I didn’t expect to find it in a game about a girl who just lost her job and is looking for her place in life, but Garden Witch Life scratches the Cooking Mama shaped itch in my brain. I mean, you actua??lly get to chop the ingredients for soup!

That, along with the glimpse into the heartwarming story offered in the demo, leave me impatiently waiting for the full release of Garden Witch Life. You get te?n in-game days to explore your new home, so make the most of them.

Tiny Glade

Town made in Tiny Glade
Screenshot by Destructoid

It’s no secret by now that I love Tiny Glade, the demo for which technically released before Next Fest by a couple of weeks. However, it is included on the list of games available so ?you know I had to include it here.

Effortlessly create tiny little towns or medieval ruins, erect a monolithic tower fit for Rapunzel or design a miniature secret garden - Tiny Glade lets you do it all without the worry of having to actually figure out the mechanics, because the game does all of that for you. Where paths intersect a wall, a door or arch is created. Windows are freely movable and flowers pop up at the click of a button. Tiny Glade is set for big thin??gs when it releases later this year.

Fields of Mistria

The farm in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you took Stardew Valley and said “hey, how come the Wizard is the only magical one here? you’d get Fields of Mistria

I won’t go into too much detail, as you can read my full opinion of the game here, but it’s safe to say that I’m waiting for the full release on July 5 with bated breath. You get three in-game days to play, which isn’t nearly enough to explore and discover everything, but you d?o have the option to play again when your three days are up.

Amber Isle

Screenshot by Destructoid

Imagine you’re a dinosaur, setting out on the biggest adventure of your life, only to fall out of your hot air balloon and through the roof of a newly renovated shop. That’s the start of Amber Isle, before you meet the incredibly grumpy May?or of the town and set out to ??impress him with your crafting and shop-keeping skills.

What cements Amber Isle on this list is the character creation. The options are endless, with a full RGB color selector, which mea??ns you can be truly unique. You can change the color and design of everything from your arm tufts to your teeth, so you’re unlikely to look exactly ?the same as any other dinosaur out there.

Galaxy Burger

The first order in Galaxy Burger
Screenshot by Destructoid

??I would say that this is the strangest offering on this list, but it isn’t. You'll see a weirder one later.

Galaxy Burger sees you running a string of burger joints across the galaxy, beginning on Mercury. It starts out easy enough - griddle the patties, try not to burn the cheese and fulfill orders for cats in mech ?suits. As soon as you progress to Venus, though, you have mu?ltiple customers and a hugely expanded cooking station, not to mention you need to memorize multiple different recipes if you want to get top points for cooking time.

I know it doesn’t sound very cozy and, in truth, there was some stress at times. However, there are cats involved and that instantly makes anything cozyRight? In my defense, I did say that some of these games wo?uld be cozy-adjacent.

Love, Ghostie

Ghostie and his mentor in Love, Ghostie

Love, Ghostie is a game from Janbeh Games where you play as a Ghost who is newly haunting a house of shared occupancy?. Without being seen, you need to help the r??esidents of the house couple up, by leaving gifts from one resident to another.

You need to manage your resources and decide which residents would make the best couples before becoming a spectral cupid, shooting arrows to make love happen. The art style is captivating and honestly, Love, Ghostie is just a joy to play all around.

Tavern Talk

Fable in Tavern Talk
Screenshot by Destructoid

I don’t know about you, but I’m so used to being on the adventurer side of RPGs that it would be nice to be on the quest-giving side of things every once in a while, almost like being an NPC. Tavern Talk offers that, and you play as the barkeep in a tavern visited by adventure?rs from across the realm of Asteria. You gather rumors and use?? them to create quests, which can then be picked up by any adventurer who enters the Inn.

One visitor, Fable, is an elven girl suffering f??rom cripplingly low confidence and self-esteem issues. She se??eks advice, and you give it, but it often feels like you’re giving advice to yourself. Or maybe that’s just me.

Alongside the visual novel aspect to Tavern Talk, you also have to mix drinks to specific recipes. Each ingredient corresponds to a different attribute, which will all be very familiar to anyone who has ever played an RPG before, including Dexterity, Strength, ??????????????????????????and Charisma.

Cats Around Us: Giant Cat

Cats Around Us: Giant Cat
Screenshot by Destructoid

Now hear me out: I know this? is a hidden object game at the most basic level, but there’s more to it than that. Not only do you have to find the 31 hidden cats in the demo, but you can also turn the picture itself i??nto a coloring page and honestly, what’s more calming and cozy than doing some coloring on a rainy day?

Like I said, there are 31 cats to find, including the larger than life Giant Cat from the title, but that’s just one level of what will eventually be the full release of Cats Around Us. There’s also a speedrun mode, so once you’ve pinpointed where all of ??the cats are, you can race against yourself to beat your best time - but doesn’t that go against all things cozy?

Farlands

Character, AI cat bot and spaceship in Farlands
Screenshot by Destructoid

Farlands reminds me of Stardew Valley in a huge way, but if some kind of bizarre event happened to turn your farm into a planet in its own right, and a thousand yea??rs passed. The mechanics on the planet are essentially the same, but there’s a whole universe to explore with the help of your spaceship.

You can use crops and forageables to create fuel cells and? then use the fuel cells to visit every planet in the solar system, meeting new friends and finding new items at every stop. What’s not to love about exploring a galaxy filled with aliens and building questionable relationships with them?

Oddada

Two crabs who hit bells with their eyeballs in Oddada
Screenshot by Destructoid

Remember when I said that Galaxy Burger wasn’t the strangest offering on this list? Well, let me introduce you to Oddada

Oddada is a game about creating music using toy-like objects which spark a huge amount of nostalgia for childhood years. It’s like putting wooden blocks together, except those wooden blocks are musical and depending on where you put them, or when you place t?hem down, you get a different song at the end of the game.

Playing the Oddada demo might have been the most bizarre yet most relaxing ten minutes I’ve had in a very long time. It’s so easy to just zone out and simply play w?ith blocks, and while the music I created definitely won’t be topping any charts (and probably shouldn’t ever be heard?? by anyone outside of myself), it’s quaint and I felt oddly proud of myself for what I’d achieved.

At the end of it all, you get to design a cassette tape to go with your song. And if you don’t know what a cassette tap?e is, thanks for reminding me just how old I am.

The Tiny Glade demo released on May 30 and is featured as part of Steam’s Next Fest. It seems to have taken over the cozy gaming corner of Twitter, with players sharing their miniature creations in droves. I’ve spent over 10 hours absorbed in the demo, and I’m still ??loving it.

Back in March, I wrote about Summerhouse and how amazing it is to just place blocks in order to build adorable houses. Tiny Glade is like taking Summerhouse and making it 3D,? giving you creative control over a small area to create dioramas fit for any RPG world. ??;

The Tiny Glade demo offers you control over an appropriately tiny piece of land, on which you can erect square buildings, circular towers, build crumbling walls, plant flowers, and even hang your laundry between windows. There’s not a lot to it, admittedly, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a tin??y world? of possibilities to discover.

One of the things which makes Tiny Glade so endlessly enjoyable, at least for me, is the camera mode. Not only do y?ou have free reign over your builds, but also free reign of the camera. You can take wide angle shots of an entire build, or zoom ??in incredibly close to capture the most minute of details, really putting yourself into the tiny world you’ve built.

The buildable zone is very small compared to the space we’ll have once the game releases fully and we don’t have access to all features, which does limit you s??omewhat. However, the space is ample for miniature builds and the features we do have access to reduce the feeling of limitation somewhat.

Buildings can be circular or square, and windows can be placed pretty much anywhere on flat walls, in corners or as dormers in the roof. They come in different designs which automatically connect to create bigger windows, allowing you to make a feature out of them if you want. There is a certain window which comes with a towel hanging out of it. Placing two of these windows close together, but not quite touching, will result in a washing line stringing between the two, even stretching acro??ss alleyways between buildings.

Whether you're building Rapunzel's tower or a ramshackle town fit for a medieval saga, each building can be modified in whichever way you choose, with any paths you place automatically creating doors or arc?hways which grow depending on the size of the path. You ?can stretch walls, curve the roof or flatten it entirely to create turreted lookout towers and walkways. If you place two roofs together just right, a small nest filled with eggs will appear in the joint. Those small touches make the game feel alive.

Once you've designed your miniature vista, you can add flowers and lanterns. While flowers are always the same, something I'm hoping is worked on before the?? full release to add more variation, lanterns will change from free-standing to wall-hanging with no effort, allowing you to place them wherever you like. If you change the time setting to nighttime, those lanterns automatically light up, casting soft light across the paths and brickwork.

All of this works together to bring whatever you create to life, despite the lack of people wandering the streets. Thanks to the free roaming camera mode, you can explore your creation from within and it's easy to imagine meeting people in the streets, or residents in the houses going about their lives as the windows illuminate?? the dark of ??night. The mode feels like walking through a quaint English village late at night and I can almost smell the wood burning fires.

With that said, Tiny Glade isn't entirely devoid of life. There are some sheep wandering the area and one particularly cute feature is what happens when you modify the terrain underneath a wandering sheep, or erect a building on top of them. Moving the ground underneath a s??heep will cause it to fly up into the air and do their best Mary Poppins impression by floating down with the aid of an umbrella. If you happen to tr??ap a sheep inside a building, they will audibly voice their confusion and a speech bubble will periodically appear until you let them out again. Did I mention that you can pet the sheep?

During Next Fest, the team at Pouncelight are issuing daily prompts over on Twitter. There have been three so far - House on a Hill, Secret Garden and Tiny Neighborhood - which have seen players sending in a ton of screenshot?s. I’ve sent in one myself, though I’ve been put to shame by some of the other beautiful diorama builds I’ve seen.

I have to admit, it’s taken me this long to feel like I’m getting the hang of things and I still don’t fully understand how to do everything I want to do in Tiny Glade. I want to build huge arches and elevate buildings, but I’m just going t?o have to keep playing to figure that out.
