Zelda and Ganondorf amiibo are slated for later this year

For a minute there, I held my breath!

During today's June 21 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo talked about how successful Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been globally, and I thought for a moment: "Are we getting a Tears of the Kingdom DLC tease?" Nope! Just more amiibo. I'm sure all of you are thrilled.

Nintendo confirmed both Zelda and Ganondorf amiibo figures, which wer?e heavily rumored thanks to some recent datamining efforts. No footage was shown off in terms of what they actually bring to the table digitally, but we did get a good look at the figures themselves, and they are fantastic.

This dual reveal comes directly after the recent news of Zelda amiibo restocks

Nintendo seems committed to getting a ton of Zelda amiibo back into circulation, as they confirmed prior to the Nintendo Direct that there was going to be a wide restock of old figures. This led to all sorts of speculation that they'd reveal more Tears of the Kingdom amiibo, which turned out to be accurate.

We still have the Sages/new Champions too! Maybe we'll get a reveal down the line after the inevitabl??e DLC announcement.

Banana Blocks

The LEGO Company has released a teaser video giving fans a glimpse of some of the new figures headed to its ever-expanding LEGO Super Mario toy line �The five new figures, whic??h were revealed on the company's Twitter, represent the key ??members of the much-loved Donkey Kong family.

In the video, we can see the unmistakable designs of Cranky Kong, Diddy Kong, and Daisy Kong, as well as the main man, Donkey Kong himself. And because no game is complete without a Funky Kong mode, then that totally tubular ape is also putting in an appearance, wraparound shades and all. While the characters' features are yet to be detailed, we can assume that these battery-operated LCD figures will interact with the LEGO Super Mario playsets, much l??ike previous releases Mario, Luigi, and Daisy.

Something appears to be going on with Diddy's tail...?? not quite sure what that's abo??ut.

The LEGO Super Mario series first launched in 2020, featuring the iconic Nintendo mascot and several basic playsets. Since then, the line has greatly expanded, with playsets based on Bowser's Castle, Luigi's Mansion, Bowser's Airship, and even The Big Man himself. These sets feature augmented play action, with sound effects and other neat tricks playing out as the figures are placed on and around the homemade courses. The Donkey Kong family of figures will undoubtedly add new options for set growth, as young LEGO and Super Mario fans build a Mushroom Kingdom of their very own.

What day is it this Friday? I'll tell you what it is, it's MAR10 Day, dagnabbit, and The LEGO Company is preparing to show off something new and special in order to celebrate Nint?endo's mos?t famous and perhaps most beloved character (after Luigi).

On Friday, the toymaker will be holding a special "Lego Super Mario YouTube Premiere" live stream, offering updates on its lovely LEGO Super Mario range and teasing "exclusive content and a big reveal". The action kicks off on the official LEGO YouTube channel at 00:80 PT / 11:00 ET / 17:00 GMT and will be hosted by Jack Gardner �who I am assuming is ?not the form??er 1950 British Empire boxing champion.

The LEGO Super Mario range, which launched in the summer of 2020, has consisted of multiple sets and showpieces featuring the characters and worlds of Nintendo's best-selling series. For younger players, there are sets that allow for the building of "courses" to be played by smart interactive Maxifigures of Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. For the more dedicated collector, LEGO has released prestige (and pricey) kits of the Super Mario 64 Question Block, Bowser's Airship, and The Mighty Bowser himself.

Here's a delightfully nostalgic piece of memorabilia �Capcom has partnered with merchandise maker Big Shots to produce a series of rough 'n' tumble plush toys based on some of the World Warriors of its iconic fighting game series, Street Fighter.

The initial Street Fighter Big Shots line features eternal rivals Ryu and Ken, as well as the All-American Guile, and the Brazilian beast Blanka. Each Big Shot is packed with premium polyester filling and printed? on soft velvet polyester cover. Each character is available in two sizes �22" x 19" or 16" x 14" �and weighs 1.5 lbs or 16 ounces, respectively. Either way, they're built to take a kicking, so you can practice your Shoryukens until the cows come home.

Of course, fans of a certain age will no doubt be instantly reminded of t??he massively popular WWF Wrestling Buddies of the late '80s, which saw similar toys made of stars such as Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Jake "The Sn??ake" Roberts, and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase. I personally never had one myself, but I remember them being around in abundance.

Good Smile Company has added another iconic video game character to its classy Figma figurine range �This time, it's the turn of the charming if unnerving overseer of The Nexus, Demon's Souls' esteemed?? and muc??h-loved overseer: The Maiden in Black.

The sweet demon stands a little over six inches i??n height, and is sporting the tradem??ark poseability that is a key feature of all Figma models. The wallet-troubling merchandisers over at Good Smile Co. have opened pre-orders on the next gaming superstar joining its enormous range of ridiculously adorable Nendoroid figurines �And this time around, it's a true icon of the medium, with the coming of Street Fighter legend Chun-Li!

As with all Nendoroid releases, Chun-Li stands a dinky 100mm in height, (that's just under four inches), and comes complete with a stand and several faceplates and accessories �allowing fans to stage The Strongest Woman in The World in all manner of dynamic poses. The additional Faceplates include a business face, a cute smile, and even a tearful expre??ssion, though why you'd use that is beyond me. Accessories include alternate hands, a Kikoken fireball, ??and Chunner's famous Lightning Legs kick!

If you'd like your own pocket-sized Chun-Li to stand guard over your desk, then you can pre-order her right now over at the official Good Smile Co. store and other toy retailers. Sexual tension: Now in chibi form

Good Smile Co. has opened pre-orders on its second Nendoroid figure pulled from Supergiant Games' excellent roguelite, Hades �Joining the huge collection of dinky PVC pop-culture characters is our first boss, the guardian of Tartarus, and Zagreus' rival in both love and war, Megaera.

Meg??aera stands a miniature 100mm in hei?ght (just under four inches) and is packed out with the posing power that comes as standard with the Nendoroid range. The harsh-whisperin' fury sister comes complete with a selection of alternate hands and faceplates, including her trademark RBF and even a rarely-seen smile. Of course, Meg would not be Meg without her trusty whip, though she can also be posed with her Skull Earring Keepsake or her cute, but surprisingly powerful, Battie Companion.

The Hades Megaera Nendoroid is available to pre-order now over at the Good Smile Co. website and other collectible retailers. Meg retails for ¥8,500, (or roughly $58 USD), not including shipping or any potential customs charges. The fury sister will ship in the summer of 2023. Previous Hades Nendoroids Zagreus and Th?anatos are available now. I'm not really a Nendo collector, but if they release all three Fury Sisters then I'll definitely pick the trio up.

While Good Smile Company's catalogue of delightful Nendoroid toys is well into three figures, it is staggering to believe that WayForward's cute genie gal Shantae was still yet to join the r??oster. After all, The Half-Genie Hero seems custom designed for such pint-sized stylization.

Well, after years of longing, Good Smile has finally opened pre-orders on the new Nendo of the purple-haired wonder, ready to come dancing out of the screen and onto your toy shelf. As is the case fo?r all Nendoroids, Shantae stands around four inches in height and features dynamically poseable limbs, so you can have our gal cutting a rug in any way you choose.

In terms of accessories, Shantae comes complete with a stand and three separate faceplates, offering her a cute smile, a cheeky wink, or as much of an "angry face" as she can muster... Somebody gon' get a hair-whuppin'. Shantae also has alternate?? arms posed for dancing, pointing, and fireball flinging, as well as a replacement ponytail in freeform whip action. As the cherry on the cake, Shantae is accompanied by a teeny figurine, reflecting her Monke?y form from the smash hit series. Adorbs.

"Cumulative global sell-in of amiibo figures has surpassed 77 million units."

Nintendo expanded upon their financial? result release for the fiscal year ending in 2023 today, and provided a closer look at some of their best-performing individual IP. One su?ch look was at amiibo, which have slowed down considerably since their 2014 debut: but still persist nonetheless.

Here's what Nintendo p??resident Shuntaro Furukawa had to say a?bout amiibo:

"Next, I would like to discuss amiibo, which we launched in 2014. Tapping an amiibo to an NFC tou?chpoint on hardware can have all kinds of fun results in compatible games, such as the in-game appearance of the amiibo character or special items. We continue to release new amiibo products each year, and cumulative global sell-in of amiibo figures has surpassed 77 million units."

Most of it is a boiler plate statement to keep investors interested in the idea of amiibo, but reading between the lines, Nintendo has no real reason to give up on the initiative y?et. They're seemingly still selling, and the statement hints considerably at keeping the amiibo side of the business alive; at least in the short term.

A few places are sold out, but there will be more in the market

Although the set of three Splatoon 3 amiibo haven't actually come out yet, we're going back to Splatoon 2 this week in some form or another with a Splatoon 2 amiibo restock.

We knew this was coming, but as amiibo News points out, the figure trio are back today online, but several retailers are?? sold out of various stock: meaning, if you wanted to pick these up at some point, now isn't a bad time. Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop have units in stock, but it's not guaranteed any one of them will be in.

At the moment of publication, here is what seems to be available for the Splatoon 2 amiibo wave:

• Amazon has the Inkling Boy (Green) and Inkling Squid (Purple?) for slightly over MSRP
• Best Buy has Inkling Boy (Gre??en) fully in stock at MSRP

More fun merch from Fangamer

Not content with offering some super cool merchandise from indie smash Hades, Fangamer has lifted the lid on its latest collection of physical goodies, which are all based upon Finji's awesome fantasy adventure game, Tunic.

Tunic fans can visit the Fangamer store today to pick up this very cheerful shirt, emblazoned with new artwork of our foxy hero and their myriad enemies.  Designed by artist Jorge M. Velez, the new shirt comes in women's and unisex styles, and features a suitable "leafy-green" color palette. Additionally, a trio of additional clothing items �including another T-?shirt, a hooded sweatshi??rt, and a zip-up jacket �are all currently in the works, and will form a line known as the "Sacred? Geometry" collection.

In collaboration with Stumpy Frog and Mango Mage records, Finji is also planning to release Tunic's beautiful and evocative score on vinyl, with Terence Lee and Janice Kwan’s soundtrack pressed to a stylish and delightfully colored four-LP collection.  The set is available to order right now at the Mango Mage Records store, retailing for $119.99 USD, (not ??including shipping costs).

Be aware that the vinyl set is not expected to ship until the third quarter o??f 2023.

Last, and by no means least, Fangamer has worked with designer Saber Murphy to create this absolutely adorable plush toy of our brave hero. Literally described as a "Huggable Fox Plush", the soft toy comes complete with sword and shield and brings one of gaming's dinkiest but most loveable heroes to light in squeezable glory. Having previously purchased plush toys from the Fangamer range, I've been very impressed with their quality, and this little dude will be a must-buy for the Tunic faithful.

A price and release date for the plush was not revealed, but you can sign up for notification right now. Be sure to visit the Fangamer of your nearest territory, be it the North American, or European version.

Cammy's famous fireball

Street Fighter and Power Rangers continue to enjoy a fun, if altogether bemusing, crossover friendship �Not content with adding the iconic Ryu and Chun-Li into nWay fighter Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, toy maker Hasbro continues to add World Warriors to its brand new action figure line Street Fighter X Power Rangers Lightning Collection.

?As featured in the recent Hasbro Pulse Con sh?owcase, the merchandiser revealed that Ryu's fiery rival, Ken Masters, and Red Delta's stellar operative, Cammy White, are the next two Wrld Warriors in line to receive a Mighty Morphin' makeover. Ken will step into his new guise as the Soaring Falcon Ranger, while Cammy becomes the Stinging Crane Range, complete with a brand new projectile attack!

As with Ryu and Chunners' Power Rangers pseudonyms, the new designs for Ken and Cammy reflect the colors and costumes of their Street Fighter iterations, freshly tweaked to fit within the bodysuited battleverse of the long-running Saban franchise. Ken appears to be sleeveless in his ranger gear, which must be borderline heresy to the Power Rangers community. Cammy is instantly recognizable, and even has a red met??al beret sculpted directly into her battle hel??met.

Ken and Cammy stand around six inches in height and feature full articulation, allowing them to be posed in all manner of dynamic stances. In addition, the figures come with various effect elements, so they can be displayed performing their unique, special attacks. The figures are expected to retail for around $35 USD, and will launch in March 2023. The Ryu and Chun-Li Power Rangers variants are available to pre-order right now, and are expected t?o launch a month earlier in February 2023.

These late stage amiibo are great looking

Thanks to a live showing at the Zurich Pop-Con & Game Show this past weekend, we have a look at the real Sephiroth and Kazuya amiibo ??models for the first time.

Obtained by way of images from Twitter user OctoBoxie (through a conversation with the great amiibo resource Amiibo News), Sepiroth is sporting his signature "winged form" (the term that Smash uses internally), and Kazuya is ready to fight in a battle pose. As you can see from the header image, these look just like the mockups we got months ago from one of the last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate streams. All we have to see now is Pyra/Mythra (which have poses too) and a potenti?al Sora figure.

The photos confirm that these detailed figures line up with the great quality of the new Splatoon 3 amiibo. As a reminder, those were shown at the Comic Con/Made in Asia convention in Brussels, Belgium. Nintendo is really bringing out ?the big amiibo guns to trade shows thi??s year.

Supergiant's fantastic action-RPG Hades is custom designed for merchandise, thanks to its attractive visuals, cool aesthetic style, strong colors, and varied cast of memorable characters. Bafflingly, however, Hades gear has been incredibly? hard to come by, with ?nary an art book or pair of Zubaz pants in sight.

Enter merch-makers Fangamer, who has finally decided, two years after release, to bless fans of Zagreus and his Hades brethren with a fun line of items styled ??after the game's underworld denizens. While the full line is yet to be revealed, a teaser image appears to include long and short-sleeved shirts, art prints, and a badge set featuring Nyx, Thanatos, Megaera, and, of course, Zagreus himself. No Artemis or Tis, but it's fine.

Perhaps best of all, the image features plush dolls of two of The House of Hades' most important employees: three-headed, bone-munching Good Boy Cerberus, and the lovely, hardworking, and ever-fangirling housemaid, Dusa. Better still, the?? Dusa plush talks! Yes, I will be purchasing both of them.

Hopefully, the full range will include further shirt designs and/or other cool gubbins, but I'm still stunned by the possibility that Hades is yet to receive a lavish, hardcover art book �which seems an absolute given for such a striking-looking release. Regardless, the fun-looking Hades rang??e is set to launch on the Fangamer site on Tuesday, July 26.

Spine-busting collectible coming from Apex Toys

Just yesterday, we reported on Storm Collectibles' upcoming premium figure of Guilty Gear badguy... erm... Sol Badguy. But what if you aren't all about Sol, what if you're all about the mischievous? but thoroughly loveable Jack-O Valentine? Well, fret not, as Apex Toys has also announced that the Halloween lovin' gal is getting her own figure at some point i?n the near future.

As revealed during WonFest 2022, (and reported by Siliconera), the new Jack-O figure is scaled at 1/9, which translates to roughly eight-to-nine inches in height... or at least she would, if she were standing upright. Y'see, Apex Toys has teased the new figure with a suspiciously familiar silhouette, suggesting that our girl will be sporting her back-breaking, censor-worrying, meme-creating, crouch pose �the very same pose that took the internet by storm last year in the form of the "Jack-O Challenge."

Apex Toys did no?t release any other info in regards to the new Jack-O pose figure, so we don't know the release window, price, or pre-order dates. But given that we don't even get to see an unpainted prototype, or even any new concept art, we are probably still a long way out from having to explain to our friends and relatives why the centerpiece of our lounge is a young woman in a bodysuit and a Halloween mask is essentially... well... "presenting."

It's a crouch pose, mom. You wouldn't understand.

The weekend's San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) brought with it a wide variety of plastic fantastics, as various merch-makers showed off tabletops full of figurines, statues, and other paraphernalia related to some of the biggest and most popular global gaming brands. Storm Collectibles was in attendance, shining a spotlight on various upcoming Street Fighter and Darkstalkers figures for its partner, Capcom.

But Guilty Gear fans did not go away empty-handed, as Storm also brought with them the completed prototype of GG's hard-edged and hard-edgy poster boy Sol Badguy. The new premium figure sees the badass bounty hunter ready to lay the smack down on his next opponent, armed with his faithful and ferocious blade, Outrage Mk?II. The Sol Badguy figure features a finely sc??ulpted, fully poseable body and comes complete with five pairs of interchangeable hands, three head sculpts, and an optional flame effect to punctuate his more dynamic poses.

Storm, curiously, has not listed the height of the new figure, but Sol Badguy is listed in their 1/12 scale category, so we can probably expect him to stand between 10-to-12 inches. Retailing for a very princely $95 (not including shipping), pre-orders for Sol are live over on the official Storm Collectibles website, ahead of his expected rele?ase window of early 2023 �which is qui?te a fast turnaround for a modern collectible.

Uh, I'll believe it when I see it

A Funko platformer? Uh, maybe I'd play it! I mean it is Fu??nko. But it's also a platformer! I'm erring on the side of "this won't excite a lot of people."

As for the details, well there isn't much, but there's something! Funko actually revealed the news at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this past weekend, noting that the partnership involves a development deal with 10:10 Games, and "some of the indust??ry's best creators." The UK studio has no rea??l pedigree right now as an organization (it formed in mid-2021), and the "AAA Funko platformer" due in 2023 will be their first test.

Right now they're focused on "developing AAA content for current and next-gen consoles and PC," and the project itself is untitled. Strangely, the game is aiming for a "T for Teen" rating, which will be wild to see play out in real time. Hopefully it ends up faring better than the now-closed Gears Pop game.

That said, if this is somehow as far removed from the Funko aesthetic as possible, a "AAA platformer" sounds enticing on paper. You just don't see very many of them anymore, as that's mostly reserved for the indie space. Sadly, Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions could have had that area on lock, b??ut they were folded into various bits of Activision as support studios.

Does Not Come with Puppy

The sun is shining, the weekend is just around the corner, and Good Smile Company has opened pre-orders on this ridiculously adorable Nendoroid of Guilty Gear's mysterious, straight-fa??ced apocalypse lover, Ramlethal Valentine.

Like so many of her compadres in the mammoth Nendoroid range, (thou??gh only the second pulled from Arc System Works' anime fight franchise), Ramlethal stands a dinky four inches in height, (and most of that is her big ol' hat), and is authentically bedecked in her bladed coat and hot pants combo. Packaged with Ramlethal a??re Lucifero and her semi-sentient greatswords, an alternate set of arms, and an alternate face plate �so you can have grumpy or grump-and-shouting. Clear stands allow Ramlethal and her swords to defy gravity, giving the impression that they are floating in place. Nice touch.

So, if you want a teeny world-eater of your very own, then the Ramlethal Valentine Nendoroid is available to pre-order now over at the Good Smile Co. online store. Ramlethal retails for ¥9,500 (roughly $70 USD), not including shipping or any potential customs charges. Ramlethal is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2023. On the road again

I may not buy m??uch merch from Good Smile Company these days, but showing up to see which video game characters have been immortalized as stylish figures is a fun pastime. How will they be represented in Nendoroid form, and what are the accessories? I like to poke around. In the case of this 30th Anniversary Nendoro?id Kirby, it's all about the faces.

Nendoroid Kirby: 30th Anniversary Edition comes with accessories like a bindle (the lore of the Kirby series ne?ver ceases to amaze me), a sweet potato, a heart, and a Star Ro?d.

You can do a face-off, too �Kirby's starry-eyed look is a fine default, but there's also "spiral eyes," "a flustered face," and my favorite, the "retro face." Kirby looks so determined! Much like plump Pikachu, it's fun to reflect on how character desig??ns have shifted over the years. Come to think of it, Kirby's retro face smile reminds me o?f a Mii.

The 30th anniversary Nendoroid Kirby costs $47.99 with an estimated ship date of February 2023, so consider this a present to your future self �how surprised will you be when you bust open the box next year? Pre-orders are open today through July 13, 2022.

Another goodie caught my eye on Good Smile's shop page: a "nap pillow" plush of Waddle Dee that's shaped like a loaf of bread. "I have no mouth, and I must scream," indeed.

30 years of pleasant platforming

In August, the Kirby series will continue its celebration with an anniversary concert at Tokyo Garden?? Theater. It's ?been a long and generally pleasant journey, hasn't it?

1996's mind-blowing Kirby Super Star and this year's Kirby and the Forgotten Land are at the top of my list. (Granted, I've missed a lot, but it's hard to imagine anything else resonating with me on this level; both games we?re a "right place, right time" sorta deal.)

Warning: Statue is Top Heavy

Yesterday saw Arc System Works make a series of announcements pertaining to its flash fight franchise Guilty Gear. In addition to the news that a huge, gameplay-changing update is headed to Guilty Gear Strive for the game's one-year anniversary, the stream also took the time to talk about some cool upcoming toys, figurines, and statues for the Guilty Gear die-hard's bookshelf.

Leading the pack was the announcement of a massive 1/6 scale Guilty Gear statue of the wandering samurai Baiken. Currently in the works at Union Creative, the statue is set to be pretty damn huge, in more ways than one, and (according to the image used) will likely depict the buxom warrior in the thick of the fight �rising to ??her feet to deal another mighty blow. Given the recent pricing of 1/6 statues, it is very likely that Baiken will retail for a princely sum. But I'mma start saving anyway.

For those who prefer their fighters a little more on the happy-go-lucky side, Broccoli offered up its first painted prototype of this utterly delightful May figurine. Rocking her GG Strive hoodie and accompanied by her trusty anchor, the seafaring adventurer will be made available to pre-order on June 6, although no price was announced. Stay tuned to the official Broccoli Twitter for more details on this gorgeous piece.

Next up, premium merch maker Prime 1 Studio will be making figurines of two very popular GG veterans, Dizzy and Ramlethal. These figurines are not quite the same scale as yer gal Baiken, and will stand roughly nine inches tall �a pinch higher than your average Kotobukiya model. Again, there were no prototype images available, but perhaps the concept art will give us a sneak glimpse at the posing Prime 1 will be going for. Prime 1 Studio is a premium retailer, so prepare y??our wallet, Dizzy fans.

Meanwhile, Storm Collectibles is working on a more typical action figure for Guilty Gear poster boy and card-carrying scene kid Sol Badguy. As you can see from the image below, Sol looks more to be an action figure of the common variety, complete with full articulation and several accessories. Storm has done an excellent job in capturing the distinct chunky proportions of a typical GG character model here.

These are unlikely to be all of the Guilty Gear-related merch headed to hobby stores over the coming year, especially as the title gathers speed heading into its second season. It's pretty mind-blowing to see that Baiken, of all the fighting game characters, is in line for the 1/6 statue treatment, but I'm not?? complaining, obviously.

The next PlayStation character to get a Nendoroid is none other than Astro from Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom, and that goes to show how far this masco?t has come.

I mean it! We were talking about Good Smile Company's figure for Aloy (of Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West fame) just a few days ago. A?nd now here's the humble little bot, looking like a champ. When's the next game? There's got to be another one.

Good Smile Company is taking pre-orders, and you'll have until June 29 to partake. The Astro Nendoroid costs $63.99, and it's aiming to ship in February 2023, but as Siliconera points out, these things have a tenden?cy to slip. You'll need some patience either way.

Aside from the default face, Astro also comes with swappable "dizzy" and "smiling" expressions, as ??well as? accessories: a fuse, a PlayStation coin, and laser feet.

I love this design as is, and it's a natural fit for the Nendoroid line, but one thing is missing. Imagine if they recreated some of the collectible PlayStation console "artifacts" from Astro's Playroom. The pack-in PS5 game was such a nostalgic, nod-filled ?collect-a-thon.

The Astro Bot figure is so cute and pure, I feel guilty for neglecting Astro's Playroom �a game I got all of the trophies for but admittedly haven't thought about much since the PS5 launched. I should download that again (you can never have enough free spac?e...) and try to improve some of my times. Or maybe I'll jus??t pop back in to soak up the jams.

But I found some anyway

Good Smile Company's range of pint-sized Nendoroid figures are well known for their wholesome adorability... But I think this latest effort takes things to a whole new level of cuteness. The intrepid Aloy �protagonist of Guerrilla Games' acclaimed Horizon f??ranchise �is taking aim at your heart and? wallet.

Like the many Nendoroid releases before her, Aloy stands a dinky four inches in height and comes sculpted in high-quality painted PVC plastic. Aloy comes packaged with three faceplates: a sweet gri??n, a little grumpy roar, and a winking/aiming expression. Aloy comes loaded for bear with her trusty spear, bow & arrow, and even a power-enhancing Focus segment. As a cool little extra, the Alo?y Nendoroid also comes with a super-scaled-down version of the reconnaissance machine: The Watcher.

While Nendoroids are well known for their fun detailing and petite nature, Aloy here has really captured my heart, and might be my favorite Nendo since Overwatch's Sombra, which debuted way back in 2018. ??If fancy an Aloy for your very own, then you can pre-order the new Nendoroid over on the official Good Smile Co. website. Aloy will retail for ¥6,500 (or roughly $50 ?USD), not including shipping or any potential customs charges, and she is expected to ship in October of this year.

Waddle dee is the latest

If you're keen on some Kirby amiibo restocks just in time for The Forgotten Land, Amazon has been?? getting some lately in waves, seemingly with?out warning.

Those Kirby amiibo restocks include the Smash edition of King Dedede, the blue base Kirby figure (on a star), blue base Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee. While several of those are out of stock or are now above MSRP, Waddle Dee is currently available with Japanese packaging. All of these are being recirculated as a result of recent CPSIA certificates, and extend to five total amiibo reprints (the aforementioned four, and Byleth). It's possible more will s?huffle in, so keep an eye out and set up some alerts.

Keep in mind that this PSA mostly impacts collectors, as the amiibo gameplay functionality as it relates to The Forgotten Land is very minimal. As we discussed in our preview writeup, tapping amiibo to the NFC point wil?l grant you bonus items, which you can oth??erwise find in-game. You can tap five figures per level, and you can't repeat the same figure until you've finished a stage.

So you can skip them! But i????f you don't own many amiibo yet, grabbing a Waddle Dee for under MSRP at the moment isn't a bad deal, as long as your expectations are in check.

Warning: Figure Does Not Float

It has been a while since we last heard from the LEGO Super Mario line, but today sees the reveal of not one, not two, but three brand new sets featuring Princess Peach. The fair princess will be the next character in line to receive an electronic, interactive figurine �?followin??g on from the Super Mario Bros. themselves.

The first LEGO Super Mario Princess Peach set is the "Adventures with Peach Starter Course" (71408). This 354-piece set includes the LEGO Peach figure, along with a basic course that includes a Start Pipe, a Goal Pole, a swing set, a "Lava Bubble" challenge, a Flying Question Block, an?d two (very cool) figurines of Yellow Toad and Koopa Kid Lemmy. The starter set will retail for around $60 USD and is the key purchase for those wanting the LEGO Peach interact?ive figurine.

The second new set is the "Cat Peach Suit and Frozen Tower Expansion" (71407). This 494-piece kit includes a super cute cat-suit skin for the LEGO Peach figurine as well as a diorama of the Frozen Tower. Features include an Ice Block, Yellow Fruit, POW Block, and LEGO figures of Toad, irritating? sorcerer Kamek, and the rarely seen Cat Goomba. The Cat Peach Suit set will retail for around $80 and is designed for use alongside previous LEGO Super Mario starter kits.

Finally, the centerpiece of this collection is the "Peach's Castle Expansion Set" (71408). This 1216-piece set consists of a detailed diorama of Peach's castle, which includes a reversible throne room, a Time Block, and five unique LEGO character figures �including Toadette, Bob-omb, Goomba, Ludwig von Koopa, and the big bad himself, Bowser. The Peach's Castle expansion will retail for a princely $130 and is designed for ?use in conjunction with previous LEGO Super Mario starter sets.

The Building Blocks of Life

No doubt many of you are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to delve back into the wild, retro-futuristic universe of Aloy and Horizon Forbidden West. And, if you fancied sitting a piece of that strange wilderness on your shelf, then soon y?ou will be able, courtesy of a brand ??new LEGO set.

As spotted by VGC, the new set will recreate one of Horizon's t?owering "Tallnecks" in delightfully blocky form, complete with a small base featuring some of Guerrilla Games' world in all of it?s luscious greenery. Better than all that, however, is an utterly adorable minifig of Aloy herself, preparing to take on the Tallneck and any other mechanical monstrosities set to come stomping her way.

As you can see from the above image, the LEGO Horizon kit is a really great-looking d??iorama, boasting 1222 bricks in total. And, given its vertica?lity, it won't even leave much of a footprint on your display shelf. The set is expected to launch at all LEGO stockists on May 22, priced at around $80 USD.

Of course, the Horizon Forbidden West x LEGO collaboration is just one in an increasing number of brick-based video game adaptations. Recent years have seen The LEGO Company ply its trade with beloved franchises and IPs such as Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, and Overwatch �not to mention the plethora of LEGO video game releases, tied into franchises such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Marvel and DC Comics.

Horizon Forbidden West launches February 18 on PlayStation platforms.

We all love Hades, right? Of course we do, we're not monsters. But I'm sure you'd agree that for such a cool-looking, stylish game, packed with the hottest cast this side of Asphodel, there is a shocking lack of available merch �Where the hell is my plush Artemis? Still, Good Smile Company is trying t??o get the boulder rolling, opening pre-orders on a new Nendoroid of Hades' swoonsville protagonist, Zagreus.

As is typical of the Nendoroid line, the trouble-causing Prince of the Underworld stands a dinky four-inches high, and will also come complete with a selection of fun accessories �including a Bloodstone cast, his trusty Blade of Stygius, his Captain America-esque Shield of Aegis, and a little bottle of nectar to offer Dusa, Than, Nyx, or Good Boy Cerbereus. Zagreus comes packaged with a base, weapon stands, and?? alternate faceplates, seemingly depicting "grin" and "rogueish grin".

If you fancy the bad boy (who doesn't?) for yourself, then you'll be pleased to know that pre-orders are now live over at the Good Smile Co. website. The Zagreus Nendoroid retails for ¥5,500 (or roughly $??55 USD) and is expected to ship toward the very end of 2022. He's almost a ye?ar away! Good Smile Co. will close pre-orders on March 9, so you still have over a month to get your name on the list.

Hopefully, this will kick the Hades merchandising game into gear. Can we get an art book? A Nyx figma? Hell, at this point I'll even take a pair of t??hree-headed Cerberus slippers. You're sitting on a gold mine.

You were expecting anybody else?

Kotobukiya has released the first images of the first King of Fighters figurine to join its long-running Bishoujo line �As we have previously reported, fiery kunoichi Mai Shiranui will be the first in a series of figurines based on SNK's legendary fighting game The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest.

As you can see from this first painted prototype, the beloved ninja gal is looking mighty fine, resplendent in her sculpted form. Like all of the figures in Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line, Ms. Shiranui is a 1/7 scale figure and is expected to stand in the region o??f about seven to eight inches tall. As is always the case with this line, the figurine is based on original artwork drawn by the fantastic artist Shunya Yamashita.

It was always worth putting good money on the possibility that Mai would be first in the new sub-series �She's easily one of SNK's most popular characters ever, if not the most popular. Surprisingly, however, the second figure will not be Athena Asamiya, or Blue Mary, or even Chizuru Kagura. No, the second figure will be a feminized Terry Bogard, much like the character that appeared in SNK Tag Team Heroines. You can check out the preliminary artwork for our boy... umm... girl, right here.

Kotobukiya's Bishoujo Mai Shiranui ??is expected to be available for pre-order soon, with the figurine launching in late-2022. If recent Bishoujo release trends are to be followed, then we can expect her to retail somewhere in the region of $100�20.

More Smash, some other stuff

The original plan of providing amiibo figures for every Smash Ultimate roster member succeeded. Well, until DLC threw a wrench in the works! Although Nintendo is still pursuing this lengthy goal, not all of the figur?es are actually out yet, and may not even all come out by the end of 2022. He??re's a great big 2022 amiibo recap.

So first up in "spring 2022" is the next Smash wave, which will bring the amiibo count up through Steve/Alex. Yep! Both of the Minecraft characters are getting their own release, separately (Japan is?? also offering a double pack). Min Min is also in this same "spring 2022" window.

Next is Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, around the "summer/mid" 2022 window. That will probably coincide with the launch of the game, and will include a new Palamute and Palico set of figures, alongside of Malzeno, the new big bad monster (similar to the original Rise amiibo scheme). Then at? some point later in the year we'll get Sephiroth, Pyra/Mythra, Kazuya, and Sora, if everything goes according to plan.

And Wrench is coming along too!

She's been a very, very long time coming, but Sky, the bird-loving best pal of Half-Genie Hero Shantae, is finally getting set to join her pals on the CharaGumin kit figurine line. The range already includes the nefarious Risky Books, the mischievous Rottytops, and of course Shantae herself, but soon the quirky quartet will be co?mplete.

As a quick refresher this CharaGumin range, which is handled by premium merchandise maker Volks Inc., these are "kit" style models, which require a little cut-and-paste assembly and by your good self. Fortunately, the pieces are pre-colored, so you only need to connect the segments and apply a few decals before you can display Sky alongside her friends in all of her glory. But if you are a master painter, you can sand off the protective layer and repaint Sky yourself. As you can see from the prototype image below, Sky (and he?r winged pal Wrench) are already looking pretty fab?ulous!

According to Volks Inc., Sky should be seeing a North American release around July 2022, just in time for next summer's Anime Expo event. No price point has been announced, but Shantae, Risky Boots, and Rottytops all retailed for around $85, (not including some pretty hefty international shipping), so you can probably expect that to apply here. The four girls will certainly make for an amazing collection for the dedicated Shantae follower.

Back in the digital realm, WayForward's Shantae and the Seven Sirens recently received a free "Spectacular Superstar Update," which rebalance?s the game, tweaks enemy placemen??t, and includes several additional new modes.
