MultiVersus is adding Teen Titans' Raven and Adventurer Time's Marceline as DLC for Season 4. The Teen Titan joins the platform fighter's roster on November 12, while Marceline leaps into the fight late???r on in the season.

The teen hero has been announced as a MultiVersus fighter with a debut gameplay trailer, showing her skills as a spellca?ster. She thumps the heck out of Beetlejui??ce, unphased by his undead appearance. She also detests Steven Universe's pink flip-flops in the trailer.

The press release says she has the powers of "telekinesis, flight, projection of her Soul-Self, and control ove?r darkness itself, making her a formidable opponent for anyone in her way."

Additionally, Raven has alternate outfits to ??unlock in the free-to-?play game. She has the White Raven and Rule Breaker outfits that are featured in the trailer.

Two new maps have also been revealed by developer Player First Games (now owned by Warner Bros. Games). One is called Back to the Past, inspired by the cult-classic Samurai Jack animated series. It makes sense as the samurai himself is a fighter in the game. That stage will drop on November 12. Later on in the season, Candy Tavern from the Adventure Time series is getting added as a stage.

If that isn't enough, MultiVersus is adding a new ?mode on November 12 called Arena. It has eight teams of two players going at it in hea?d-to-head round based matches. It seems to be like a tournament mode. You'll get in-game rewards like Prestige to gain special outfits.

MultiVersus Season 4 will last from November 12 to January 21. It will have two ba??ttle passes to ??complete with four themed events, new rifts, and plenty of skins.

The Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz is also expected to be a featured character in MultiVersus sometime soon, especially with the film Wicked around the corner. She shows up in the upcoming comics series based on MultiVersus and has been seen in the game's files. The Joker was previously leaked in the game's files before he?? was officially announced.

It's cool that this game only needs 15GB of storage, especially when compared to other sports titles like NBA 2K24 (110GB) and FC 25 (100GB)

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions recommended specs

To run th?e game to how the developer Un??broken Studios recommends, you'll need the specs listed here:

If you manage to cast Accio on a Radeon R9 290X or higher, you should be able to run the game on High settings with a 1080p resolution. Thankfully, the Quidditch Champions PC requirements don't require too much of an investment, and it doesn't seem like it needs an SSD. It's likely to open up more players to the game when it releases this September.

Warner Bros. Games has acquired the MultiVersus developer Player First Games for an undisclosed amount. The platform fighter developer is now readying for MultiVersus' second season of content, set to make its debut this ?week on July 23, 2024.

Player First Games is now a part of Warner Bros.

In an official press release, WB Games announced its acquisition of Player First Game. Studio Co-Founders Tony Huynh and Chris White (also Head of Technology) will report to Carlos Barbosa, Vice President and Studio Hea??d of Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

“We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games,�said president of Warner Bros. Games David Haddad. “The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.�/p>

One reason behind the Player First Games acquisition by WB Games is cited as a smoother integration process between the studio and the publisher, perhaps with better communication surrounding its IP or faster production time to release upcoming characters quicker. Huynh also explained that "having [their] development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.�/p>

Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice are around the corner

Season 1 included four characters: The Joker, Jason Voorhees, Banana Guard, and Agent Smith. The rollout has been relatively slow, however, as Agent Smith is about to launch for ever??yone nearly two months after the game's release on May 28.

Season 2, so far, will give us the cartoon classic Samurai Jack, along with the grot??esque ghosty Beetlejuice, who seem to be in the game for promotional reasons as a sequel film heads to theatres this September. The Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch and Scooby-Doo have also appeared in the artwork for upcoming MultiVersus comics launching later this year (via Bleeding Cool), so it's likely t??hey'll arrive ?in the platform fighter shortly.

Warner Bros. Games also owns NetherRealm Studios, the Chicago developer that makes the Mortal Kombat series, so Player First Games has great company in the fighting game space. Seeing Sub-Zero clashing with Batman and St??even Universe sounds ??riveting.

Delisted Games, citing various developer, is report??ing that the Adult Swim Games subsidia?ry of Warner Bros. is ceasing operations and will be delisting games currently published by them within the next 60 days. 

Delisted Games are speculating that this will affect all games under the label and are reporting that WB is refusing to work with affected developers. Matt Kain Lewandowski, one of the developers of 2013’s Fist Puncher, has stated on Steam Discussions, “So far they have said no with the reason being that they made the universal decision not to transfer the games back to the original studios and do not have the resources to do so. No, the transfer process is not complicated. It likely takes about 2 minutes on their end�/p>

Matt also says that the games “will presumably be removed from users' libraries,�but that isn’t how it?’s worked in the past, so I’d be extremely surprised if this was a?ccurate.

Owen Deery, creator of Small Radios Big Televisions, says that WB controls the sale price, so he can’t mark his game down before its delisting. Instead, he has made the game available for free on the developer’s website.

According to the developers, they have been told that the delistings are due to “business changes.�It should be noted that Adult Swim Games hasn’t really been active since at least 2020. However, in their time, they published games such as Double Fine’s Headlander, Duck Game, and Super House of Dead Ninjas. Other games like Rainworld and Jazzpunk have had the publishing righ?ts returned to the developer. Unfortunately, for any developer who didn’t move away from Adult Swim, it seems like it will be difficult to save th??e listing.

WB has been in headlines a lot recently for its anti-creative moves. Not long ago, there was an outcry against the company’s decision to shelve the reportedly complete film Coyote vs. Acme for tax purposes. In recent video game industry news, they made the baffling decision to double-down on live service games despite the relative failure of Suicide Squad. They also recently announced the decision to shutter online video producer Rooster Teeth.

I’m at a bit of a loss for words right now. I already considered WB to be one of the worst publishers, not just in terms of quality but also for game preservation due to their unwillingness to re-release much of the back catalog of Midway/Williams/Atari Games. I never predicted how much worse it would get. In the early �0s when they started publishing alternative games, it seemed like they were on track to be competition for Devolver Digital in terms of quir?ky small-budget style. But I suppose yesterday’s optimism sometimes becomes the devil’s pants.

In the meantime, if you are interested in any of Adult Swim Games�back catalog on Steam, y?ou might want to act now. As mentioned, WB is in control of any discounts, and they don’t seem interested in hosting a last-chance sale. Some developers will be able to make their games available elsewhere or perhaps find a way to relist themselves, but nothing is guaranteed.

Despite its gameplay debut going over as well as Snorlax clearing a high jump, WB Games' and Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League moves on �shattered femurs notwithstanding. And you may be able to try Suicide Squad later this month during a closed alpha playtest you can sign up for now.

The closed Suicide Squad playtest cracks off next week. WB Games sent out the invite earlier today, allowing some a chance to sign up ahead of time. The test starts on November 30 at 6 am PT and ends on December 4 at midnight PT. Warner Bros. states in the invite that the Suicide Squad playtest is comprised of a "smaller, specific section of the campaign" and "will not be representative o?f the full/final experience."

Who can join the Suicide Squad playtest?

According to?? the invite, the technical test is opening for a "limited audience." You can sign up and pick a ??platform, which includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam). But you'll need to sign an NDA to participate, which restricts you from sharing images or screenshots, video, or any impressions. As typical with closed tests, there'll be a watermark superimposed on your gameplay that's meant to shy folks away from sharing anything.

The test is, of course, preparing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for its big launch next year. Rocksteady's next action game was meant to land this last May. It got hit by a massive delay, pushing it to February 2, 2024 (so far).?? The delay notice came out not long after its gameplay trailer reveal during Sony's State of Play. It wasn't fully known if the unenthused reactions caused the delay, but it seemed folks were more cautious over the apparent live-service features of the game.

Eithe??r way, some players will be able to check out the game for the first time in just over a week. Hopefully, the delay will bear some fruit. Personally, I am somewhat interested in trying out the game and seeing what I can do as Captain Boomerang armed with his iconic shotgun.

Xbox has announced that Gotham Knights' Game Pass debut will occur on October 3, and those of you who don't want to pay for it can check out the game after its mediocre critical response. Party Animals, Cocoon, and PayDay 3 also join the Xbox Game Pass lineup over the next few?? weeks.

Xbox Game Pass will ??be adding f?ive new games to its service, which include:

• Party Animals (September 20)
• PayDay 3 (September 21)
• Cocoon (September 29)
• Gotham Knights (October 3)
• The Lamplighters League (October 3)

Gotham Knights will be available to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers as it launches for the service on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud. Each of these games will be available on the Cloud, except Cocoon.

Perhaps Gotham Knights will find an audience within the Xbox Game Pass community. The current Steam player base at the time of writing is at 199, according to SteamCharts, so this news coul??d give a good boost to WB Games' multiplayer title.

Destructoid gave Gotham Knights a mediocre 5/10 review score. "After playing Gotham Knights, I couldn’t shake the feeling that a lot of it had the air of an Arkham-verse fan game," says our review. "While there is something there, you can almost reach out and touch the design-by-committee elements and witness the soul??s of some of the developers leaving their bodies."

Despite a slew of awesome games coming to Xbox Game Pass, there are plenty that are leaving the service on September 30, says Xbox Wire. They include:

Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay will not be coming to the game during its launch. WB Games?? has confirme?d Wednesday over Twitter that it will arrive later via a patch.

"Launch is just around the corner and we can’t wait for everyone to sink their teeth into Mortal Kombat 1," says the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account. "Regarding Kross-Play, it will not be available at launch, but know we are hard at work at implementing the feature ??into the game and it will be kom?ing post launch."

So, to put it all in one sentence: you won't be able to play Mortal Kombat 1 ??with fighters on platforms other than your own on da??y one.

Neither WB Games nor the developer NetherRealm has provided a release date or window for Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay.

Other replies ask if the game will support cross-save between PC and consoles. ??There has been no response from WB Games or the developer.

WB Games has confirmed that rollback netcode is used in Mortal Kombat 1. It's a popular connection tool that lets pla??yers have more stable matches.

Mortal Kombat 1 is releasing on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Ni?ntendo Switch. You'll be able to preload the game a few days early. You can also get Shang Tsung as a playable preorder character ??bonus.

In an era that's still filled with previous-and-current-gen simul-releases, Gotham Knights bucked the trend with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusive?? console release. No??w, it might be coming to the Switch, roughly a year since the original's debut.

This is according to a new ESRB rating that po?pped up, which added Switch as a platform to ??its listin?g. Note that ESRB ratings don't usually apply to Switch cloud-based games, so in all likelihood, this is a legitimate port. We've reached out to WB for clarification.

Even if Gotham Knights doesn't come to Switch, you're not missing much

As a remi??nder, here's the ESRB rating reasoning itself, which is a hoot:

"This is an action role-playing game in which players control one of four Batman Family members through missions around Gotham City. ??Players explore open-world environments while investigating crime scenes and fighting criminals/villains. Players mostly engage in melee-style combat using punches, kicks, and takedowns to defeat enemies. Combat is highlighted by impact sounds, cries of pain, occasional gunfire, and explosions. Stealth attacks and takedowns result in brief cutscenes: characters slamming enemies' heads into floors/walls; kicks/knees to the head; close-range gunshots to enemies' torsos. Time for Kombat!

Fans will be able to get a headstart on the gory glory with NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat 1 Stress Test soo?n. However, it won't be available to all-komers, nor will you won't be able to download it straight away.

How to gain access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Stress Test

Interested parties cannot sign up for the Stress Test via their PlayStation or Xbox consoles. Instead, you'll need to go to WB Games' website on your PC to perform this task. Log i??n to your WB Games Account or create a new one. After signing in, you'll be given the opportunity to select an Xbox Series X/S or PS5 code. If you're selected, a code should be emailed to you.

Yes, the beta will not be available on PC o??r the Nintendo Switch. It makes sense as both of these versions are being developed by separate studios QLOC, Shiver Entertainment, and Saber Interactive. Thankfully, you won't need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to take part in the test.

Is the Mortal Kombat 1 Stress Test a beta?

Publisher WB Games has said this stress test shouldn't be considered a beta. "The purpose is to deliberately stress our online infrastructure and identify potential issues ahead of the game’s launch," said WB Games in an official Q&A. "The test is also unrelated to the Mortal Kombat 1 Pr??e-Order Beta that has been? announced for August 2023."

If you don't want to play Mortal Kombat 1 until it's fully released, you'll have to wait until September 19. You can test your might on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). A PS4 and Xbox One release is not currently scheduled. If you want to get back into Mortal Kombat earlier than that, the prior entry is available on Xbox Game Pass

The studio is moving on to the next big thing

Turtle Rock Studios is looking ahead towards its next project. And because of that, it'll be leaving Back 4 Blood as it is, right now.

In a short update, Turtle Rock Studios confirms it's not working on any more Back 4 Blood content. Mostly, ?it's beca?use the studio is working on its next game.

"Turtle Rock Studios is actually pretty small? for a studio making AAA games. We don’t have quite enough folks to continue working on Back 4 Blood content while we spin up another game �yes, another game! Given this, it’s time for us to put our heads down, get back i??n the lab, and get to work on the next big thing."

This doesn't mean the game is shutting down, though. Back 4 Blood will stay online, and available on both Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Plus extra ti?ers. The developers also say they will continue hanging around in places the community congregat?es, like the subreddit and Discord, to keep interacting. The team may be "quieter in the short term," but promises to be back.

Don't look Back in anger

Back 4 Blood hit back in October 2021, as a continuation of Turtle Rock's legacy of co-op zombie FPS development. As the name suggests, it follows in the footsteps of Turtle Rock's work on Left 4 Dead. And though it didn't mark the same historic highs, I did enjoy my time with the new deckbuilding ideas and characters that Turtle Rock created for Back 4 Blood.

The Turtle Rock crew rolled out a pretty decent amount of expansions for Back 4 Blood, and now it gets to move on to something new. At the very least, it's a neat and clean conclusion, and it's staying online. Considering how many online game closures we've seen in the last week alone,?? that's a good win?? for the Cleaners who want to keep running these levels.

A late start to the new term

The start to a new year at Hogwarts will be slightly delayed. Open-world magic RPG Hogwarts Legacy has ??hit a new delay, and is now aiming for a February 10, 2023 launch.

It's the latest 2022 game to get hit with a delay into next year, and it comes with an addendum too. While the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions of Hogwarts Legacy are set for February 10, 2023, the Nintendo Switch version has no date. News about the Switch's date will be revealed soon, the Hogwarts team says.

It's the latest delay for Avalanche Software's game, which had already been pushed out of 2021 and into this year. We did get a gameplay deep dive earlier this year, where we saw a bit of what wizards and witches can get up to in the wizarding world. But it looks like play??ers will be waiting a bit longer to get their owl.

Back to school

The delay isn't totally out of the ordinary, as several major 2022 games have been moving out and into later dates. Earlier this week, Firaxis and 2K confirmed that Marvel's Midnight Suns has been delayed out of its?? October date, only specifying that it?? will launch sometime before the end of March '23.

Even Metal Slug Tactics is taking a little extra time. Only a few, like God of War Ragnarok, are standing firm in this coming holiday window.

A little extra time will hopefully at least be good for the team, in helping them deliver the experience they want to. I'm admittedly not too keen on Hogwarts Legacy, especially as it's based on a series whose author seems determined to keep chipping away at any goodwill the books garnered. WB Games did note in 2020 that Rowling isn't directly involved in the game. But hey. There's always Witchbrook.
