By the community, Valve’s is coming soon
[Update: Turns out Valve in fact is doing a Halloween event. This is simply the Community-made Halloween event. We’ve updated the post below to reflect this.]
The Halloween update is one of the biggest times of the year for Team Fortress 2. With new themed maps and items, it’s been a big thing for players for the last few years now. This year, Valve decided to do things differently and let the community make their own event⭕ as well.
The result has been a pretty damn huge update called . Gone are the ghosts🌃 and giant floating demon eyeballs of the past, now we’re in for a 1950s B-movie alien invasion. You can watch the trailer up above, and it features the cast being dorks as per usual.
The update includes new maps (including a reworking of TF2 staple 2Fort), new weapons, and new cosmetics. What’s more interesting is that Valve is selling a ticket that will track players throughout the event and give you a shiny in-game coin 💙at the end🦩. The money made from these tickets is going straight back to the community members who made the update, which is neat.
The Invasion event will be running all the way through November 5, which gives you the best part of a month to live out your Men in Black fantasies. There will still be a normal Valve-made𝓀 event coming🉐 later on too.

This year, Valve decided to take a step back and let the community do all the work instead. When this was announced I was cynical that we’d get a d๊ecent update, and that it was the sign of Valve abandoning the game for newer things, but I’ve been proved wrong.
