Alright, there is apparently an easter egg on the Nuketown map of Call of Duty: Black Ops which is activated when you shoot the heads off all of the mannequins within a certain amount of time. The folks at NextGenTactics put together a team of guys to take on the challenge and what they found can be se🧸en in the video above.

It can also be read about below, but I thought I’d spare anyone who might like the surprise of seeing what happens without me just telling them.

So, the secret is that “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones starts playing through speakers situated throughout the map. It’s kind of a neat thing that ties the game back in a bit with their marketing campaign and, of course, I love the song.

But there may be a deeper significance at work here. I’m not talking about the game itself, but a statement on the games industry and Activision’s place in it. They licensed the rights to one of the biggest songs from one of the biggest rock bands of all-time to use as a throwaway tune requiring far more work to access than most players will bother with. Imagine how much that must have cost. Staggering. [People have pointed out in the comments that the song appears elsewhere in the game, which makes much more sense. The price still must have been astronomical -CZ]
