As reports of a second season of The Last of Us circulate, there is also word that a native PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2 may be on the way.
The news comes from PlayStation dataminer @PlayStationSize who posted a somewhat cryptic Tweet featuring the Naughty Dog sequel. contacted the account and confirmed that “the tweet refers to The Last of Us Part II as a native version being added to the PlayStation database.”
This seems to align with what game composer Gustavo Santaolalla pre🅺viously hinted at in an interview with BL🌜ENDER. In the interview, he also claimed that in the PS5 version players would be able to interact with his chara💖cter and make him play music.
Naughty Dog hasn’t forgotten about The Last of Us
As fans already know, The Last of Us Part 2 received a free PS5 patch that unlocked 60FPS gameplay and much shorter loading times. A native PS5 version could bring further improvements, including a higher resolution. It could also introduce some of the PS5’s features such as adaptive triggers, the console’s Tempest 3D audio, and some of the accessibility features present in The Last of Us Part 1.
The timing feels intentional, as the game could do a good job of drumming up interest in the franchise in the lead-up to the second season of the television ser𝄹ℱies that is set to air in 2025. If the first game is anything to go by, ther🐻e could also be a PC♏ port on the way.
This isn’t the only The Last of Us project you can look forward to. Fans have been waiting so long for The Last of Us Part 2‘s multiplayer counterpart that many have begun to believe it has been scrapped. Fortunately, has confirmed that work is still being done on the game.
You should remember that the native PS5 version has yet to be officially announced by the studio. With The Game Awards coming up on December 7, there’ll be an opportunity for Naughty Dog to address the gaming world if it wishes to.
