In a very timely bit of marketing, retro-fans Hamster have released classic scrolling brawler The Ninja Warriors on Nintendo Switch, just one week before the launch of re-remake The Ninja Saviors, which hits Switch July 25.

Released in arcades in 1987, before being ported to numerous home consoles and computers, Taito’s The Ninja Warriors saw one or two players control the characters of “Kunoichi” and “Ninja” (come on, guys) two android martial arts who are sent to take down the government after a corrupt President instigates martial law.

Kunoichi and Ninja must battle through six stages of side-scrolling action, facing off against the might of the military en route to taking down the totalitarian regime and freeing the nation. The Ninja Warriors big gimmick was a unique display setup which combined one monitor with two projections, creating a “triple-wide” screen with which to display the shuriken-tossing action.

The Ninja Warriors is available to download now on PS4 in Japan and Nintendo Switch worldwide. The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors launches on July 25.
