In case you had forgotten or missed the memo, Harmonix and MTV Games have released a new Rock Band 3 trailer today that focuses on the game’s new instrument: keyboards.
Yes, the upcoming iteration of the music title will let you tickle the ivories, so to speak. Except the ivories will actually be plastic, and you won’t be so much tickling them as you will be playing along to tracks from Huey Lewis and Tears for Fears. One of the game’s designers, Sylvain Dubrofsky, walks us through how the they work in “standard” note mode and it looks fairly “simple.” Then he switches gears to “Pro” mode and my brain shuts off… and I can actually play music on a real piano!
The more time I spend with the game, the more sense it’ll make, I’m sure. I’m not really accustomed to watching and reacting to the lanes and notes shifting like they do in the game. Of course, I’m patiently waiting like everyone else to get my hands on the game, which ships October 26. I’m sure I’ll be killing “Power of Love” on Expert in no time; gimme now, please.
