Indie developer celebrates game by releasing new versions, updates and more
from on .
Two years ago in October, Super Crate Box released for PC and effectively destroyed my life for that month. Those dutch bastards at Vlambeer aren’t done with crates by a long shot and have now by declaring that they own October, which is now Super Crate Box month. Please make the necessary adjustments to your calendars.
What possessed them? They have a whole lot of Super Crate Box goodness happening, is what. First off, the PS Vita version of the game released today over PlayStation Mobile, where it sells for $3.49. It’s probably the best version of Super Crate Box to date, as it looks pretty awesome on the bright Vita screen and I know I appreciate score-driven games where everyone 𝄹is on the same pla🐼ying field, controller-wise.
Also now available is a newly arranged version of the Super Crate Box soundtrack (seen in the video above) by Erik “Phlogiston” Surhke, which includes a special copy of the game which replaces the original music with the re-arrangement. I’m listening to the tracks as I write this, cursing myself and the way my hand, even now, aches to move the mouse over the purchase button. It’s pretty fun, runs about fifteen minutes, and I’d encourage you .
The iOS release is also receiving an patch, which resolves a few issues and paves the way for a larger update expected in the future. And the team expects that the Mac version of Super Crate Box on Steam will be rea🦹dy to go live sometime next we🌄ek.
If that were not enough (and, if you’re going to claim an entire month for yourself, it probably isn’t) those maniacs have announced they are working on yet another version of Super Crate Box. Tentatively titled “Super Bread Box,” little more than a few screenshots were delivered and a cryptic suggestion that not many people will even be able to play it.
Bread Box, eh? I won’t spoil what I think the answer to the mystery is for you, but it looks like I’m going to have to drag a cold, beige brick out of my closet. I don’t know whether to be angry or amused.
