Warframe is a game that’s built specifically on the rule of cool. That’s a tricky thing to balance for a live-service game, but the developer Digital Extremes manages just fine. How? By turning awesome bugs into satisfying 🦄features, of course, as shown with the new Atom🦩icycle spawning bug.
More specifically, the recent release of Warframe: 1999 has cast a retro venee🔜r onto the entire far-future universe of this game. One of the update’s flashiest features by far is the powerful Atomicycle vehicles, which are precisely what they sound like: nuclear-powered motorbikes. They explode if you ram them into enemies, too, which is extra neat. Now, Atomicycles were originally supposed to be limited to Warframe: 1999‘s new location, the city of Hollvania, but players quickly figured out a way to force-spawn them into any old mission. Instead of patching this out real quick, Digital Extremes has now enshrined that bug as a feature.
You can now drive Warframe: 1999’s Atomicycle wherever you want
As per Digital Extremes’ recent announcement on the official Warframe Discord, the ability to summon Atomicycles wherever, whenever is now going to be supported as a feature. This frankly ridiculous development is immediately hailed as a stellar move by just about everyone in the community, and it’s hard to argue with that take.
Granted, some caveats do apply. The Atomicycle is, for example, going to remain the only vehicle available on maps other than the ones it’s been designed for. Archwings, K-Drives, and other various mounts will stay content-exclusive. Instead, only Atomicycles are being given , as Warframe veterans likely🌱 recall. Atomicycles will also no l🍨onger be summonable in dedicated Archwing missions, which does make perfect sense.
The good news is that Digital Extremes has now promised to resolve the spotloading bug that occurs upon summoning an Atomicycle in a regular, non-1999 mission. Furthermore, any game-♐breaking issues that happen due ꦦto this development will be fixed on a per-case basis.
In practical terms, this means that you will now be able to pull out your Atomicycle from your pocket dimension virtually anywhere and for any reason. Since they can be used both to get around really quickly and as rapid-fire explosive devices, there’s merit in lugging one around now. As if we needed any more reasons to grind our way through Warframe: 1999‘s re-envisioning of Dark Sector.
