Hotfixes have been coming steadily since Warframe’s latest big update, and mostly, these include minor balance changes and bug fixes. But has some interesting changes t൲o Koumei, Caliban, and some new rewards, too, that are worth keeping in mind.
The Koumei & the Five Fates update has already brought with it a ton of changes to the game, including a new Warframe, a rework of companions, a major overhaul for Caliban, new Incarnons, QOL, and more. For the latest in what’s happening in Warframe, though, keep reading.
Changes to the newest Warframe, Koumei
The Warframe community’s reception of Koumei has been mixed. Most agree she isn’t a terrible character by any means, but many had hoped she’d be more powerful. Accordingly, some gamers want to see her buffed. This hotfix, to that end, does bring some buffs to the table:
- Koumei’s Omikuji challenges will now count kills made by squadmates if the final killing blow is dealt within two seconds of Koumei dealing damage to the target.
- Reduced the max number of kills (lowest dice roll) required to complete Koumei’s “Kill enemies while Wall Latching” Omikuji challenge from 45 to 30.
These aren’t huge changes, but actually completing Koumei’s decree challenges has been an issue, especially with more frustrating ones, like wall-latch kills. After this update, thankfully, the wall-latch kill challenge will be easier, and challenges, in general, will be easier to complete, particularly in co-op when playing with Warframes that can quickly demolish an entire map.
Buffs to one of Warframe’s strongest characters: Caliban
Caliban was Warframe’s weakest character for a long time, but Koumei & the Five Fates turned a forgettable Warframe into one of the game’s toughest. Surprisingly, this hotfix makes him even stronger, thanks to a few particular bug fixes that are essentially buffs:
- Fixed Caliban’s Lethal Progeny summons not benefitting from certain Ability Strength buffs (ie. Empower, Molt Vigor, Energy Conversion, etc.).
- Fixed Caliban’s Lethal Progeny summons not benefitting from shared buffs granted by other Warframes in the squad (ex: Ember’s Fireball Frenzy, Grendel’s Nourish, etc.)
Caliban’s summons are already quite strong, but now they’ll be even stronger since buffs that should have applied to them (both from Caliban’s build itself as well as from other Warframes) weren’t being applied. Great news for the Calibros out there who run summon-heavy builds.
Plague Star rewards have returned to Warframe
According to Digital Extremes, the Plague Star event was too difficult to fit into the Warframe calendar this year with the launch of Koumei & the Five Fates ♏as well as the upcoming 🌱1999 update, but the developer is still opening up access to the rewards of the event.
Head on over to Deimos, talk to Daughter, and access her ‘Narberus Treats’ offerings to purchase the following rewards formerly from the Plague Star event:
- Plague Akwin Blueprint
- Plague Keewar Blueprint
- Plague Bokwin Blueprint
- Plague Kripath Blueprint
- Exodia Contagion
- Exodia Epidemic
For the unintiated, these are Zaw components. You can use these to build your own custom melee weapons, while the Exodia items are Zaw Arcanes. You can use those to make a Z🎀aw, once built, even stronger. These items are tradeable, but you can only earn them in-game from the event.
