Life is Strange is a landmark cinematic title that was released earlier than I’d like to admit. After close to a decade, here’s exactly when Life is Strange Max Caulfield began her time-traveling journey.
What is the Life is Strange release date?
Life is Strange‘s first episode was released on January 29, 2015. Yes, this is almost nine years ago; I feel old. The game was released episodically, and each chapter came out a few months after the other. The final part had us emotionally strained on October 20, 2015. I remember sobbing with my sister by the end of it.
If you waited for the full release of Life is Strange physically, Square Enix eventually put the boxed verℱsion🎐 in stores on January 22, 2016.
How was the game received critically?
When the first episode came out, the reviews were fairly positive. “It’s nigh-impossible to not be enamored by the hand-drawn world that Dontnod created,” said Destructoid’s 8.5/10 review. “It has a wonderfully flawed look about it, maybe one that suitably reflects Max as a central character.”
Sister site was a bit more critical, with a 7/10 review. “Max is truly a likable character, while others you just want to smack upside the head,” said the writer. “I did have many ‘feels’ for Chloe, since she’s been through quite a lot of drama, but her attitude when she speaks makes that fade quickly.”
Currently, Life is Strange has a great 85 score. The Nintendo Switch port of the series didn’t fare too well, unfortunately, with only a 66 score.
