Where to find Grafton Monsters in Fallout 76

They ought to be called Charleston Monsters instead.

Fallout 76 contains many hostile beings that are found throughout the entire franchise such as radscorpions and Supermutants. Unique to Fallout 76 are cryptids and creatures that a🐻re inspired by the local (West Virginian) folklore. The Grafton Monster is one of these cryptids and is hard to miss. Its hulking figure makes it one of the largest non-boss creatures in the game.

The best Grafton Monster spawn locations in Fallout 76

Grafton Monsters are quite rare with few spawn locations and only a single creature per spawn. If you’re looking to slay or take a picture of one to complete a Seasonal Challenge, then you need to know the most reliable locations to find them. Here are all the guaranteed spawn locations of Grafton Monsters:

  • Charleston Trainyard: One is found roaming the dried river bed on the northern end of the trainyard.
  • Charleston Capital Building: From the fast-travel point, take a couple of steps and look along the ditch. A Grafton Monster patrols the ditch between the Capital and the Dam.
  • Hemlock Holes: South of the fast-travel point there is a Grafton Monster in the glowing wasteland area.

How to take a picture of a Grafton Monster in Fallout 76

Now that you know where to find a Grafton Monster, you’ll need to take a picture of them to complete the Seasonal Challenge. The in-game text doesn’t point it out, but you’ll need to use the ProSnap Deluxe Camera to take the picture, not Photomode. For the Seasonal Challenge to be completed, you’ll have to equip the camera and move close enough to the Grafton Monster so that its name is shown in the top-right section of the screen. Once its name shows up, press your primary fire button and the quest should be completed.

If you’re worried about sneaking up to the gargantuan creature, you can choose to kill it first. Taking a picture of the corpse counts towards the completion of the quest, just make sure you snap the pic before the corpse disappears.
