Similar to how the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV) mutated humans into an unrecognizable foe, the Troglodyte Degeneration Contagion (TDC) spread throughout Pittsburgh to create feral, deformed humans known as Trogs. Not to be confused with Trogdor the dragon, Trogs are humans degenerated by the TDC which pu⭕ts them somewhere in between feral ghouls and super mutants.
Trogs are an enemy that was first introduced in The Pitt, a Fallout 3 DLC. They’re hairless, crawl on all fours, and share similar attack patterns with feral ghouls. The most disturbing part about a Trog is that they are capable of partial speech. Hearing their voice lines as a pack of them gallop around you can quickly turn Fallout 76 into🌳 a horror game. This guide will help you find Trogs so that you can lay them to rest, either for a weekly challen⭕ge or out of the kindness of your heart.
Where to find Trogs in Fallout 76
Trogs are currently only found in either of the two Expeditions to The Pitt. “From Ashes to Fire” i🐷s an Expedition whꦰere you can find many Trogs throughout your journey in the Trench. This Expedition is best if you’d like to immediately hunt Trogs and respawn the area by leaving and rejoining the session.
The other Expedition to The Pitt known as “Union Dues” brings the Trogs directly to you. Towards the end of the Expedition, waves of Trogs will swarm players, saving you the trouble of hunting them down yourself. But unlike “From Ashes to Fire,” players will only be 🐼🌄able to find Trogs during these waves.
Both of the Expeditions include a high number of Trogs. So even though there are only two sources of the enemy💃 within Fallout 76, 🌳you shouldn’t have trouble knocking out your weekly 50-kill challenge with one to two runs of the Expeditions.
All Trog variants in Fallout 76
Like many creatures in Fallout 76, Trogs have various forms that make every encounter dangerous in their own way. Unlike most types of enemies, these variants aren’t simply higher-level versions with an incre🍸ase of stats.
- Trog: The base variant. While considered weak, they aren’t anything to underestimate when in a pack. They have a ranged attack in the form of a toxic spit, but their swarming tactics make them deadly.
- Trog Devourer: These Trogs are more durable than their normal variant and gain a howl attack which can disorient players. A well-timed howl from a Devourer can spell the end for even the most prepared players.
- Trog Fledgling: Small but not to be underestimated, Fledglings have a toxic spit similar to the other variants but tend to spawn in higher numbers. Their barrage of bile isn’t to be taken lightly.
- Trog Striker: Nearly identical to a devourer, the striker appears if the player finds all four Striker’s Logs in the “Union Dues” Expedition.
- Trog Superior: While not as powerful as a Devourer, the Superior gets its name from being the most dominant variant throughout the Pitt.
- Glowing Trog: It wouldn’t be a Fallout enemy if it didn’t have a Glowing variant. These are only found in the final phase of “From Ashes to Fire” within the Radstorms.
Every Trog is agile and rarely found alone. Consider using flamers or automatic weapons to answer their swarming tactics with a stream of fire and lead. Staying on the move is key to fighting many of the foes in Fallout 76.
