Ashraf Ismail, the creative director on <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em>, has abandoned the project.<\/p> <p>Ismail has stepped down from leading&nbsp;<em>Valhalla<\/em>&nbsp;a little earlier today with the following tweet:<\/p> <\/p> <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"> <p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am stepping down from my beloved project to properly deal with the personal issues in my life. The lives of my family and my own are shattered. I am deeply sorry to everyone hurt in this.<\/p> <p>&mdash; Ashraf Ismail (@AshrafAIsmail) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AshrafAIsmail\/status\/1275839403211010048?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">June 24, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote> <p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p> <p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AshrafAIsmail\/status\/1275839405144657920?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Ismail adds<\/a> &#8220;<span>There are hundreds of talented, passionate people striving to build an experience for you that do not deserve to be associated with this. I wish them all the best.&#8221;<\/span><\/p> <p>The effect of Ismail&#8217;s departure probably won&#8217;t be felt much in <em>Valhalla<\/em>. It&#8217;s launching this holiday, meaning the creative direction has certainly been locked in place by now. However, Ismail is a longtime <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em>&nbsp;leader, having helmed <em>Black Flag<\/em>&nbsp;and <em>Origins<\/em>. It&#8217;s unclear if he&#8217;s leaving Ubisoft or just taking some time away.
