{"id":263974,"date":"2021-02-08T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/yooka-laylees-playtonic-says-it-will-reveal-something-soon\/"},"modified":"2021-02-08T17:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T22:00:00","slug":"yooka-laylees-playtonic-says-it-will-reveal-something-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/yooka-laylees-playtonic-says-it-will-reveal-something-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Yooka-Laylee&#8217;s Playtonic says it will reveal &#8216;something&#8217; soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"we-know-youre-all-wondering-what-we-have-cooking\">&#8216;We know you&#8217;re all wondering what we have cooking&#8217;<\/h2> <p>Playtonic Games has tried to capture the essence of some of our favorite 3D and 2.5D platformers with its own twist, and I can&#8217;t wait to see what&#8217;s next after 2017&#8217;s <em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em> and 2019&#8217;s <em>Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlaytonicGames\/status\/1358784398636818434\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">This morning on Twitter<\/a>, the studio teased the imminent reveal of &#8220;something&#8221; new.<\/p> <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"> <p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#8217;d like to give our community, our friends, a giant hug &eth;&#376;&#8217;&#353;&eth;&#376;&#8217;&#339;<\/p> <p>We know you&#8217;re all wondering what we have cooking, and although we can&#8217;t say just yet, something will be revealed SOON.<\/p> <p>Thank you for being patient with us &eth;&#376;&#8482;&#8218;<\/p> <p>&mdash; Playtonic (@PlaytonicGames) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlaytonicGames\/status\/1358784398636818434?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">February 8, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote> <p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p> <p>That&#8217;s it &ndash; that&#8217;s the post! &ndash; but I&#8217;m so curious to see which direction this team is taking. For what it&#8217;s worth, a recent note to <em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em> Kickstarter backers referenced a secret &#8220;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Logmey92\/status\/1354283176328388608\/photo\/1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rebrand<\/a>&#8221; at Playtonic.<\/p> <p>I feel like the future could easily hold a different genre set in the wider <em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em> universe (it&#8217;s fun to picture these characters in other Playtonic takes on Rare classics), or yeah, a more straightforward sequel could work. Just as well, it could be all-new. Nothing says it has to involve the dynamic duo.<\/p> <p>What are you hoping to see? As popular as this series is, many of us seem to latch onto something slightly different and don&#8217;t have the same priorities. I&#8217;m pretty adamant that <em>Impossible Lair<\/em> is much better-designed, but&#8230; I still want another <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em>-like 3D romp from this team. I&#8217;m easy like that.<\/p> <p>At any rate, it feels like Playtonic is built to last.
