Many game studios are <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/heres-a-big-gaming-april-fools-day-2022-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">publishing jokes and fake-outs<\/a> of potentially cool ideas that aren&#8217;t happening, but some are actually adding neat ideas. Thankfully, that&#8217;s the case for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/reviews\/review-a-short-hike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>A Short Hike<\/em><\/a>, which has a multiplayer mod out today.<\/p> <p><em>A Short Hike\u00a0<\/em>developer Adam Robinson-Yu <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adamgryu\/status\/1509900196003655708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared the mod on Twitter<\/a> today. Dubbed\u00a0<em>A Short Hike 99<\/em>, this is a PC mod that lets players on Steam, Itch, or GOG set out on their hiking adventure with friends. There is no battling though; &#8220;just vibing.&#8221;<\/p> <p>This being April 1, I booted up my Steam version of\u00a0<em>A Short Hike\u00a0<\/em>and opted in through the Betas tab to make sure it was real. There was something really enjoyable about not just vibing in the gorgeous world, completing the little quests and activities, but doing so with others. Having random encounters with other players and emoting with each other added a little extra joy to it all.<\/p> <p>The instructions for <a href=\"https:\/\/adamgryu.itch.io\/a-short-hike-99-online-mod\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">getting into the mod are here<\/a>, and they&#8217;re pretty easy to follow. While Robinson-Yu says he only plans to keep his own server up for two weeks, others can host their own and even run one in the background.<\/p> <p>He also clarifies it&#8217;s not a beta and it&#8217;s rough.
