It&#8217;s been delayed, lost leads, changed hands, and more. Today, we did get some reassurances that <em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>is still in development, though we may not be seeing the results of that as soon as some would like.<\/p> <p>Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester recently responded to concerned <em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>fans on Twitter. Wester <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheWesterFront\/status\/1548983190324486144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assured<\/a> that\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>is in development, and more will be revealed when they are ready. He reiterated the statement on his timeline, with a follow-up: &#8220;The game is in good hands and we look forward to showing you more when the team and the game is ready.&#8221;<\/p> <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"> <p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Since I get this question on Twitter every now and then, I think this information might be of interest to at least a few of you: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LgZ7oqsa4j\">https:\/\/t.co\/LgZ7oqsa4j<\/a><\/p> <p>&mdash; Fredrik Wester (@TheWesterFront) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheWesterFront\/status\/1549347601421668354?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 19, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote> <p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p> <p>Whose hands those are is still one major question. In February 2021, Paradox announced that it was taking <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-drops-developer-hardsuit-labs-will-no-longer-launch-in-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developer Hardsuit Labs off<\/a>\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2<\/em>, and that it would no longer make its then-planned 2021 launch.<\/p> <p>Prior to that,\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>was <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-gets-announced-at-gdc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced with some excitement<\/a> and original\u00a0<em>Bloodlines\u00a0<\/em>writer and designer Brian Mitsoda on the project. It even showcased almost <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-bleeds-30-minutes-of-gameplay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30 minutes of gameplay<\/a> in 2019. Then the <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-needs-more-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">project was delayed<\/a>, citing the need for more time to deliver a proper\u00a0<em>Bloodlines\u00a0<\/em>successor.<\/p> <p><\/iframe><\/p> <p>Mitsoda <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/brian-mitsoda-suddenly-terminated-as-narrative-lead-on-vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">later left the project<\/a>, alongside creative director Ka&#8217;ai Cluney and senior narrative designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/bloodlines-2-senior-narrative-designer-cara-ellison-has-left-the-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cara Ellison<\/a>. The project was delayed, and after\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>moved out, <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/hardsuit-labs-hit-by-layoffs-following-removal-from-vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hardsuit Labs faced a round of layoffs<\/a>. While development is now proceeding, Paradox is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gBPNft0KQnU&amp;t=2785s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declining to name the studio<\/a> that&#8217;s currently working on it, so they can &#8220;focus fully&#8221; on game development.<\/p> <h2 id=\"the-night-carries-on\">The night carries on<\/h2> <p>After all that, Wester&#8217;s comments indicate\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em>is still in the works. We&#8217;ll have to wait for more details, it seems, and wait a while longer at that. When asked if fans would get a peak at the project during this year&#8217;s PDXCon, which runs September 2 through 3, Wester <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheWesterFront\/status\/1549407327694065665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said not this time<\/a>.<\/p> <p>It&#8217;s nice to know the project&#8217;s still alive, though it seems like it&#8217;s been quite the journey for all involved. In comments made last October, Wester even said that\u00a0<em>Bloodlines 2\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-was-almost-cancelled-paradox-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was almost cancelled<\/a>. But apparently a pitch came in that was convincing enough to keep the\u00a0<em>Vampire\u00a0<\/em>game afloat.
