Not only has the rat-a-tat-tat sequel beat out the <em>Call of Duty<\/em> franchise&#8217;s own launch record \u2014 previously held by 2011&#8217;s <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3<\/em> \u2014 but <em>MWII<\/em> has also surpassed the <em>combined<\/em> opening box office revenue of blockbuster movies<em> Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> and<em> Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.<\/em><\/p> <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"> <p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To our community &#8211; THANK YOU for making <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ModernWarfare2?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ModernWarfare2<\/a> the #1 Call of Duty launch of all-time! These impressive numbers will most certainly be welcomed by the money men at Activision Blizzard, given that 2021&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/reviews\/review-call-of-duty-vanguard-ps4-version\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Call of Duty: Vanguard<\/em><\/a> was one of the franchise&#8217;s most underperforming releases \u2014 Though, obviously, &#8220;underperforming&#8221; in a CoD sense just means &#8220;mega-millions&#8221; instead of &#8220;ultra-millions&#8221;.<\/p> <p>As always, however, the new release has not been without its fair share of controversy. Some players were bewildered by a sequence in the <em>Modern Warfare II<\/em> campaign in which the player points guns at unarmed civilians in order to &#8220;de-escalate&#8221; a situation. Additionally, a real-life hotel situated in Amsterdam <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/this-amsterdam-hotel-is-not-pleased-theyre-featured-in-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is considering legal action<\/a> after their resort was allegedly featured in a violent action sequence without the company&#8217;s consent.<\/p> <p>A<em> Call of Duty<\/em> title <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/call-of-duty-loyal-samoyed-dog-head-skin-dlc-plagiarism-cod\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asking for forgiveness instead of permission<\/a>?
