{"id":462600,"date":"2024-02-13T11:54:19","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T17:54:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/?p=462600"},"modified":"2024-02-13T11:54:28","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T17:54:28","slug":"are-all-helldivers-2-weapons-unlockable-for-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/are-all-helldivers-2-weapons-unlockable-for-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Are all Helldivers 2 weapons unlockable for free?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve already spoken at some length about <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/helldivers-2-season-pass-explained-how-does-premium-warbond-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Helldivers 2<\/em>&#8216;s implementation of the dreaded season pass<\/a>, only to conclude that it&#8217;s not too bad at all. The whole system is quite fair, but the question that you might still have is whether <em>all<\/em> of the game&#8217;s weapons are free to earn.<\/p>    <p>As <em>Helldivers 2<\/em> takes a fairly different approach to gear unlocking than most other games do, with virtually all of it available <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/helldivers-2-warbonds-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">via Warbonds<\/a>, you might expect that all the guns are technically available for free, too. After all, <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/helldivers-2-currencies-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Helldivers 2<\/em> does let you earn its premium currency<\/a> through regular gameplay. However, some exceptions to this rule do exist, and <em>certain<\/em> pieces of gear &#8211; including a particular weapon &#8211; will seemingly remain inaccessible without throwing some more coin the developers&#8217; way.<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Helldivers-2-Premium-Warbond-Autogun.jpg?w=640&#038;resize=1200%2C675\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-461578\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Helldivers-2-Premium-Warbond-Autogun.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Helldivers-2-Premium-Warbond-Autogun.jpg?w=300 300w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Helldivers-2-Premium-Warbond-Autogun.jpg?w=768 768w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Helldivers-2-Premium-Warbond-Autogun.jpg?w=1024 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot by Destructoid<\/figcaption><\/figure>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-helldivers-2-s-weapon-unlocking-system-has-one-minor-exception\">Helldivers 2&#8217;s weapon unlocking system has one (minor) exception<\/h2>    <p>As the owners of <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/2514130\/HELLDIVERS_2__Upgrade_to_Super_Citizen_Edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Helldivers 2<\/em>&#8216;s Super Citizen Edition<\/a> will attest, one of the game&#8217;s weapons is not available at all without spending extra: the MP-98 Knight sub-machine gun. This fairly competent piece of kit is exclusive to the aforementioned &#8220;deluxe&#8221; version of the game, and since you can still upgrade your <em>Helldivers 2<\/em> license to Super Citizen status, it stands to reason that MP-98 will not be available outside the upgrade.<\/p>    <p>Note, too, that this isn&#8217;t cheap. Upgrading to Super Citizen Edition costs you $20 without any discounts applied, and if you&#8217;ve already purchased the base version of <em>Helldivers 2<\/em> and grinded enough Super Credits to get the Steeled Veterans Warbond, then you may find it hard to justify the spend.<\/p>    <p><em>Helldivers 2<\/em>&#8216;s Super Citizen Edition includes the following goodies:<\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li>Steeled Veterans Premium Warbond<\/li>    <li>MP-98 Knight SMG<\/li>    <li>DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set<\/li>    <li>Super Citizen in-game status<\/li>    <li>Stratagem Hero warship mini-game<\/li>    <li>Will of the People cape<\/li> <\/ul>    <p>It&#8217;s a decent set of goodies, to be sure, but we&#8217;re not fully convinced of its necessity. It&#8217;s fairly easy to get set up with dozens of other, arguably more compelling weapons and armor sets through the free Warbond, making Super Citizen Edition a bit of a hard sell from one point of view.<\/p>    <p>On the other hand, it does have neat exclusives, and the Stratagem Hero mini-game, which is not available through any other means at this time. Naturally, all of this could signify that the developer Arrowhead Studios might release more paid-for exclusives down the road, but this is not the case for the time pass, only to conclude that it's not too bad at all. The whole system is quite fair, but the question that you might still have is whether all of the game's weapons are free to earn. As Helldivers 2 takes a fairly different approach to gear unlocking than most other games do, with virtually all of it available via Warbonds, you might expect that all the guns are technically available for free, too. After all, Helldivers 2 does let you earn its premium currency through regular gameplay. However, some exceptions to this rule do exist, and certain pieces of gear - including a particular weapon - will seemingly remain inaccessible without throwing some more coin the developers' way. Helldivers 2's weapon unlocking system has one (minor) exception As the owners of Helldivers 2's Super Citizen Edition will attest, one of the game's weapons is not available at all without spending extra: the MP-98 Knight sub-machine gun. This fairly competent piece of kit is exclusive to the aforementioned \"deluxe\" version of the game, and since you can still upgrade your Helldivers 2 license to Super Citizen status, it stands to reason that MP-98 will not be available outside the upgrade. Note, too, that this isn't cheap. Upgrading to Super Citizen Edition costs you $20 without any discounts applied, and if you've already purchased the base version of Helldivers 2 and grinded enough Super Credits to get the Steeled Veterans Warbond, then you may find it hard to justify the spend. Helldivers 2's Super Citizen Edition includes the following goodies: Steeled Veterans Premium Warbond MP-98 Knight SMG DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set Super Citizen in-game status Stratagem Hero warship mini-game Will of the People cape It's a decent set of goodies, to be sure, but we're not fully convinced of its necessity. It's fairly easy to get set up with dozens of other, arguably more compelling weapons and armor sets through the free Warbond, making Super Citizen Edition a bit of a hard sell from one point of view. On the other hand, it does have neat exclusives, and the Stratagem Hero mini-game, which is not available through any other means at this time.
