With the 1.6 update recently rolling out for the PC version of Stardew Valley, many of you will have been basking in all that delicious new content.

Actually, I’m surprised anyone is reading this instead of leisurely skipping through Ferngill Republic. If you are here (first of all, thanks), then you’re probably wondering about the mod situation. When the new patch was sent out, there may have been some concerns that any mods you had installed for the game would be immediately rendered non-compatible. I did a story recently about how Nexus Mods was asking content creators to make sure they were prepared for the big 1.6 push, adding that a “considerable chunk of mods will be broken” post-update.

PSA for people who use mods: A ton of mods are already updated for 1.6 (check out https://t.co/RYjYIYjuk7). Also, I've added a public steam branch that will let you stay on version 1.5.6 if you choose. I recommend trying out 1.6 without mods, but it's up to you
— ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) March 18, 2024
