They\u2019ve also released a new trailer that covers the gameplay in better detail.<\/p>    <p>Announced back in April, <em>Yars Rising<\/em> is a gated exploration (Metroidvania) game that bases itself on <em>Yars\u2019 Revenge<\/em>. It\u2019s a weird way to reimagine a fixed-screen shooter from the early days of home games. While the <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/yars-rising-is-coming-this-year-doesnt-look-very-yar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">initial trailer<\/a> didn\u2019t really show much relation to the original beyond some visual references, both the demo and the trailer show a more distinct link. I\u2019m talking about the hacking mini-games that are essentially new configurations of the classic <em>Yars\u2019 Revenge <\/em>gameplay.<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div   id="gqq8s83tkl"    class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <\/iframe> <\/div><\/figure>    <p>It\u2019s a better trailer overall, though I\u2019m still not sold on the aesthetic. I say that as someone who actually likes <em>Yars\u2019 Revenge<\/em>. However, Joseph Luster tried out the demo and came to the same conclusion that he\u2019s curious, but not wild about the game. I\u2019m just not seeing much of a hook here.<\/p>    <p><em>Yars Rising<\/em> still fits into Atari\u2019s business model of adapting old licenses into smaller-budget games. So far, a lot of what I\u2019ve experienced from the initiative is solid but unremarkable. However, with the resurrection of the Infogrames label and Nightdive and Digital Eclipse at their side, they aren\u2019t restricting themselves to one strategy. It\u2019s a lot better than what we had a decade ago when they last tried to resurrect <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/99120\/Yars_Revenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Yars Revenge<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/9970\/Star_Raiders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Star Raiders<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>    <p><em>Yars\u2019 Rising <\/em>will be released for Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC on September 10, 2024.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yars
