{"id":592931,"date":"2024-09-07T09:04:11","date_gmt":"2024-09-07T14:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/?p=592931"},"modified":"2024-09-07T09:04:20","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T14:04:20","slug":"black-myth-wukong-best-staff-stances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/black-myth-wukong-best-staff-stances\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Myth: Wukong Best Staff Stances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stances unlock various heavy attacks in <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/review-in-progress-black-myth-wukong\/\"><em>Black Myth: Wukong<\/em><\/a>, and the game gently encourages you to specialize in one of the three stances on offer.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p>You can be a jack-of-all-trades, of course, but you\u2019ll get the most out of the game\u2019s combat by really drilling into one stance and pairing it with the right <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/best-transformation-spell-in-black-myth-wukong\/\">spells and transformations<\/a>. Luckily, you can respec for free at any shrine in the game, so there\u2019s no penalty for experimenting with your build.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p>Despite all relying on the same light attack combo, the stances in <em>Black Myth: Wukong <\/em>feel very distinct, and it didn\u2019t take me long to find out which I preferred most. All the stances are viable, depending on your approach to combat, but some are much more broadly useful than others.&nbsp;<\/p><\/iframe>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-2.jpg?w=640&#038;resize=640%2C360\" alt=\"Destined One using Smash Stance in Black Myth: Wukong\" class=\"wp-image-592936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-2.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-2.jpg?w=300 300w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-2.jpg?w=768 768w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-2.jpg?w=1024 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot via Destructoid<\/figcaption><\/figure>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-smash-stance\">Smash Stance<\/h2>    <p>This is the first stance you&#8217;ll gain access to, and it was my go-to approach through a good chunk of the game. The heavy attack has you jump into the air and slam your staff straight down into your enemy\u2019s head. It\u2019s a simple move that really doesn\u2019t even require you to pay attention to timing or spacing. If you do put a little effort into perfecting the timing, you can actually use this attack to jump over incoming ground attacks. With an extra skill point, you can unlock a follow-up jump attack that deals massive damage while letting you avoid even more hits. Add onto all that the fact that you can unlock the ability to charge heavy attacks while sprinting, and you\u2019ve got an absolute workhorse of a stance.\u00a0<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-1.jpg?w=640&#038;resize=640%2C360\" alt=\"Destined One using Thrust Stance in Black Myth: Wukong\" class=\"wp-image-592937\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-1.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-1.jpg?w=300 300w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-1.jpg?w=768 768w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-1.jpg?w=1024 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot via Destructoid<\/figcaption><\/figure>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-thrust-stance\">Thrust Stance<\/h2>    <p>Thrust Stance is by far my favorite in <em>Black Myth: Wukong<\/em>, but I found it to be a little less broadly useful than Smash Stance. The heavy attack is, who would have guessed, a thrust that has a truly ridiculous range, but this stance also unlocks another move. By interrupting a light attack combo with the heavy attack button, you can jump backward to avoid an enemy\u2019s attack. The jump doesn\u2019t use up any Focus, but immediately after jumping back, you can spend a Focus point to do a heavy thrust attack. The process of actually managing the spacing and timing the jump and thrust was really fun, but when a boss got me into a tight corner, or I needed to use Focus points quickly to restore some of my health, I\u2019d always default back to Smash Stance.&nbsp;<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-3.jpg?w=640&#038;resize=640%2C360\" alt=\"Destined One using Pillar Stance in Black Myth: Wukong\" class=\"wp-image-592935\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-3.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-3.jpg?w=300 300w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-3.jpg?w=768 768w, https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/stances-wukong-3.jpg?w=1024 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot via Destructoid<\/figcaption><\/figure>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pillar-stance\">Pillar Stance<\/h2>    <p>Pillar Stance has by far the coolest looking, most cinematic heavy attack. Using your staff as a pivot point, you spin around and kick all the enemies surrounding you, which can come in handy if you run into a crowd while exploring. The downside to this stance is that charging it requires you to remain stationary because your character sits on top of the staff during the charge. This can be great for avoiding ground attacks \u2013 and it\u2019s basically mandatory for <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/how-to-beat-captain-wise-voice-in-black-myth-wukong\/\">bosses like Captain Wise-Voice<\/a> \u2013 but it\u2019s a noticeable limitation with only niche uses.
