Literally. The people behind <em>Phasmophobia<\/em> know this as much as anyone, as, champing at the bit of the Halloween event, Kinetic Games is already doling out the festive scares.<\/p>    <p>When you next log into your platform of choice, you&#8217;ll notice <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">that <em>Phasmophob<\/em><\/span>ia\u00a0has begun updating. This is the Christmas patch \u2013 referred to as &#8220;Winter&#8217;s Jest&#8221; \u2013 which, as with all of these types of updates, comes with some themed content, as well as a promise that &#8220;Karmpus waits.&#8221;<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div   id="gqq8s83tkl"    class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ghost Hunters, the festivities begin.<br><br>Our Winter&#39;s Jest update for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Phasmophobia?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">#Phasmophobia<\/a> is now rolling out across all platforms. \ud835\udcda\ud835\udcfb\ud835\udcea\ud835\udcf6\ud835\udcf9\ud835\udcfe\ud835\udcfc awaits.<br><br>Note: The event itself will be live at 12PM UTC, 12th December 2024.<br><br>Patch notes &gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TmFJrFE3uM\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/TmFJrFE3uM<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1sDBwF3sgG\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/1sDBwF3sgG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Phasmophobia (@PlayPhasmo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayPhasmo\/status\/1867161553948041559?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">December 12, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div><\/figure><\/iframe>    <p>In this case, the developer is taking cues from the Blood Moon event we had just a few weeks ago to challenge players. This event will continue until December 31, 2024, and is available on the PC and console ports of <em>Phasmo<\/em>.<\/p>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-do-we-get-then\">What do we get then?<\/h2>    <p>For a general overview of what the &#8220;Winter&#8217;s Jest&#8221; patch comes with, you can check out the changelog <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kineticgames.co.uk\/blog\/phasmophobia-wintersjestupdate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>. In a nutshell, along with the Christmas event, there are a few bug fixes, including a few that were causing crashes.<\/p>    <p>Of course, this isn&#8217;t about fixing issues. This is about tiding us over until the new year, with scares aplenty. An announcement on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kineticgames.co.uk\/blog\/phasmophobia-wintersjest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Kinetic Games website<\/a> goes into more detail about what we can expect. Here, this should explain things:<\/p>    <blockquote class=\"no-quote-icon wp-block-quote has-quote-icon\"> <p>Continuing on from our Blood Moon event last month, we\u2019ll be tasking Ghost Hunters with working together to achieve a set of shared goals in order to receive rewards. We\u2019ve taken on feedback from the Halloween event and implemented that in to the scoring system, lowering the required scores while increasing the amount earned from completing tasks &#8211; and rewarding bonuses for those playing on higher difficulties. This\u2019ll mean progress will feel quicker and more satisfying throughout this event.<\/p> <\/blockquote>    <p>The Tanglewood Drive, Bleasdale, Maple Lodge Campsite, and Point Hope lighthouse are now covered in snow, replete with festive decorations. There are also community goals, which include hunting down jack-in-the-boxes that will grant points when opened, so that&#8217;s something to look forward to.<\/p>    <p>We&#8217;re also being told these maps are also &#8220;host to something incredibly sinister.&#8221; Given what this recent <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PlayPhasmo\/status\/1867179436296015887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">post on X<\/a> says, it seems likely that we&#8217;re in for a frightful ride.
