Personally, I spent a lot of it playing arcade games and compilations. Though, I did handle some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/reviews\/review-paper-mario-the-thousand-year-door\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more high-profile reviews<\/a> on Dtoid this year. Of those, the staff at Destructoid has chosen <em>The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom<\/em> as 2024\u2019s Best Switch Game.<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div   id="gqq8s83tkl"    class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <\/iframe> <\/div><\/figure>    <p>A lot of folks have been asking for a <em>Zelda <\/em>game where you play as the titular princess for years. I mean, an <em>official<\/em> <em>Zelda<\/em> game. One that we\u2019d rather not just forget about. With the help of Grezzo, Nintendo finally provided. However, a lot was done to make her feel distinct from series\u2019 mainstay hero, Link. Instead of just slapping a sword into Zelda\u2019s hand, she\u2019s given the power to copy and paste many items and monsters from the world in order to assist her in combat, traversal, and taking a nap.<\/p><\/iframe>    <p>It maybe doesn\u2019t have the <a href=\"https:\/\/jbsgame.com\/reviews\/review-the-legend-of-zelda-echoes-of-wisdom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grandeur of a production<\/a> like <em>The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom<\/em>, but for some, that\u2019s for the better. Not everyone was down with the series diverging from the overworld\/dungeon framework of the earlier games, so getting back to that is something of a relief.<\/p>    <p>There\u2019s no telling where the series will go from here. We\u2019re currently in a position where we\u2019re waiting for Nintendo to finally announce the Switch\u2019s successor, and it could happen any day now (probably not until the new year). How long will we have to wait for a <em>Zelda <\/em>title to land there? What will it look like? Will it be more like <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em> or <em>Echoes of Wisdom<\/em>?<\/p>    <p>Either way, it\u2019s probably why it\u2019s been a quiet year. A lot is probably being held off for the launch of the new platform. 2025 could be a year that absolutely blows us away. We won\u2019t know until Nintendo actually tells us.
