I mean, it\u2019s not impossible, but I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ve ever heard anyone make the claim before. Well, if you\u2019re the exception, then Atari and QUByte <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jR3RDmMOaAI?feature=shared\" target=\"_blank\">have a collection<\/a> of five of the developer\u2019s title coming your way. The collection releases January 30, 2025.<\/p>    <p>I\u2019m not complaining, it\u2019s just unusual. So, to make sure we\u2019re on the same page, here\u2019s what\u2019s coming in the package:<\/p>    <ul> <li><strong>Hardball! &#8211; <\/strong>It\u2019s baseball. Just baseball. Unlicensed baseball. This looks to be the Genesis\/Mega Drive version of Hardball.<\/li>    <li><strong>Hardball II &#8211; <\/strong>It\u2019s more baseball. In case you didn\u2019t get enough baseball the first time.<\/li>    <li><strong>Winter Challenge &#8211; <\/strong>These are the sports you play when it\u2019s cold out. Skiing, bobsledding, biathlon, that sort of thing. There\u2019s a pretty solid assortment to be found (eight events), and it gets pretty ambitious with 3D graphics.<\/li>    <li><strong>Summer Challenge &#8211; <\/strong>Similar to <em>Winter Challenge<\/em>, but for the months where you can wear shorts in Canada. It\u2019s also eight summer-y events and thy manage to throw in some more of that polygonal good stuff.&nbsp;<\/li>    <li><strong>Hoops Shut Up and Jam! &#8211; <\/strong>A classic two-on-two street basketball challenge. This one is maybe the funniest inclusions because the name is familiar, but not quite right. That\u2019s because it was released as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/game\/7102\/barkley-shut-up-and-jam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Barkley Shut Up and Jam<\/a><\/em>, since it featured Charles Barkley. Clearly, re-licensing his appearance is too much for this humble collection, so it was renamed.<\/li> <\/ul><\/iframe>    <figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div   id="gqq8s83tkl"    class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <\/iframe> <\/div><\/figure>    <p>Amusingly, the press material doesn\u2019t even mention the original name of <em>Hoops Shut Up and Jam!<\/em> They\u2019re either assuming you know or that you just don\u2019t know at all. And if you\u2019re the type to just pick up a retro collection of sports games you\u2019ve never heard of, then that\u2019s pretty awesome. You\u2019re my type of person.<\/p>    <p>The games appear to be the Genesis\/Mega Drive version across the board. <em>Hardball 1 <\/em>and <em>2 <\/em>got a PC release last year, but those were the DOS versions. All the games had multiple platforms, normally across home computers, but Bark\u2026 Sorry, <em>Hoops<\/em>, was also on the SNES. It\u2019s a bit of a bummer that the collection doesn\u2019t just provide multiple versions, but also kind of understandable. A collection of old sports titles is always going to be incredibly niche, so it\u2019s hard to go the extra mile within budgetary constraints.<\/p>    <p>Are any of these games great? I\u2019m the wrong person to ask, as I\u2019m not much of a sports kind of person. As far as I\u2019m concerned, a lot of them are very similar. However, from what I understand, they\u2019re decent.<\/p>    <p><em>Accolade Sports Collection<\/em> releases for PC, Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Switch on January 30, This one is maybe the funniest inclusions because the name is familiar, but not quite right. That\u2019s because it was released as Barkley Shut Up and Jam, since it featured Charles Barkley. Clearly, re-licensing his appearance is too much for this humble collection, so it was renamed. Amusingly, the press material doesn\u2019t even mention the original name of Hoops Shut Up and Jam! They\u2019re either assuming you know or that you just don\u2019t know at all. And if you\u2019re the type to just pick up a retro collection of sports games you\u2019ve never heard of, then that\u2019s pretty awesome. You\u2019re my type of person. The games appear to be the Genesis\/Mega Drive version across the board. Hardball 1 and 2 got a PC release last year, but those were the DOS versions. All the games had multiple platforms, normally across home computers, but Bark\u2026 Sorry, Hoops, was also on the SNES. It\u2019s a bit of a bummer that the collection doesn\u2019t just provide multiple versions, but also kind of understandable. A collection of old sports titles is always going to be incredibly niche, so it\u2019s hard to go the extra mile within budgetary constraints. Are any of these games great? I\u2019m the wrong person to ask, as I\u2019m not much of a sports kind of person. As far as I\u2019m concerned, a lot of them are very similar. However, from what I understand, they\u2019re decent.
